Diflucan didn't work

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan didn't work

diflucan

After Nystatin, that didn't work the doctor gave me one pill of Diflucan for my candida. The situation instead of improving is getting worst. I have more candida then before and i also got mild fever, weakness, joint aches and liver pain. As i see in the posts many had problem with candida. Did someone already cured the candida with those drugs and did they have the same symptoms? I don't know anymore how to get out of this problem and doctors too as far as i see.
I read somewhere that you shouldn't take Diflucan while preg. I have a YI right now and the doctor prescribed an internal cream. Although I read to not take Diflucan, I'm sure he would not have prescribed it unless it was safe. Are you past the first trimester? If so, maybe it is more safe.
Mouse74 - if the diflucan isn't working then you either need another antifungal or it's not thrush. You may want to go to the doctor and get a swab done. Diflucan normally takes a couple of days to work. You can now get the tablet and a small tube of cream packaged together as you can use the cream externally and feel better (and often get instant relief) while you are waiting for the tablet to work.
I'm also concerned that the Diflucan didn't seem to work at all, which makes me wonder whether the initial dx of yeast infection was even correct or whether the medication has triggered something else.
I'm sleeping, however I'm finding the interuptions happening as they did before and now when I awake I don't feel as refreshed as i was getting before the die off stage started. I'm feeling a lot more pain and fatigue during the day and feel like we've got to hit this thing hard now. Still require pain medication in order to manage days and even nights as well. There was some improvement and now I feel I'm right back where I started from.
I tried the monistat and it didn't work, so I called the doc and he prescribed me the one dose of diflucan. That knocked it out right away. Now I'm 32 weeks pregnant, just went to the doc today because I thought I had another yeast infection. Sure enough, I do. He gave me the diflucan again, but this time in 2 doses, 1 to take today and the other in 72 hours. I have total trust in my doc that he is doing the right thing.
I only gave my experience, but as I've said here before, we are all different in how we respond to the treatments, so what works for one, may not work for another, but your news is great. Wishing you all the best. hugs...Helen..
My Doctor prescribed Diflucan once a week for four weeks. It's the third week now. It didn't seem getting any better. Does it suppose to works? 3. I have been taking herbal diet pills and lost 14 lbs in about 6 months. Is it possible the reason my skin infection developed?
I notice no change as of today Sunday. He also prescribed diflucan 100mg for 14 days if medrol didn't help. I'm just not sure how much time I should give the medrol shot before realizing it is or isn't helping. I am desperate for some relief any help is appreciated.
Nystatin didn't work on my daughter. Diflucan was much more effective. Also, he could have had an allergy to the antibiotic, and may not have yeast at all. Have you tried some sort of cream like benadryl or hydrocortisone? Ask his Dr. 1st on those.
They have put me on Diflucan, then Terazol when that didn't work. I got tested again last week and they are prescribing Diflucan again? Would it work this time if it didn't last? (The original visit I was cultured and it came back resistant to Diflucan, thus the Terazol applicator). As a side note, my most recent check also came back bv along with yeast! Help please! This is not a fun way to live, let alone have a happy sex life!!!
during pregnancy, but they told me to put it one file. They wanted me to try monistat first, the monistat worked great, and I didn't have to fill the diflucan. If you do go with monistat it has to be the 3 day or the 7 day, not the 1 day (they gave me a reason, but I don't remember). I'm sure the diflucan is safe, they aren't going to give you anything that they think will hurt the baby, so try not to worry. Also there is a web site that tells you about safe meds...it at: www.safefetus.
The next few days I purchased it again only because the store didn't have the 7 day cream. It still didn't work. I finally found the 7 day cream, tried it, it didn't work. After so many attempts to get rid if whatever it it OTC, I broke down and went to the dr. She didn't do an exam just asked questions . She said maybe it was diabetes and drew blood for that, but gave me Diflucan and another for the next week if symptoms persist. I used both and still nothing.
I used some old MetroGel that I had (which i didn't realize isn't for yeast). It didn't work, so then I used the 1 day Monistat. After 24 hours I douched to get all that Monistat stuff out of my body. A day later, the infection was back again. I went to the dr. Sunday and he gave me diflucan. I have used it before, but this time, i was so nauseated and all day Monday i had a pain on my left side. Last night my body was really achey.
I tried garlic clove suppositories- they didn't work. I tried Monistat 3 day treatment- it didn't work. I got tested for systemic candidiasis- results: negative. I tried 3 days of Diflucan WHILE doing a 7 day treatment of Tercanzole (sp). On the 6th day of Tercanzole (today), I visited a different doctor because I still had some mild itching.
when that didn't work I was given 2 Diflucan pills taken 3 days apart. That didn't work so I went back to the Dr. who looked under the microscope & said it looked like definately yeast. I have had cultures & STD testing done, all fine. So I was given a 7 day treatment of Terazol & 2 more Diflucan pills (take 5 days apart) to take at the same time as using the Terazol. So far, I'm still irritated & burning.
1) Why Travocort/Travogen didn't work at all but only Kenacomb work? They are both antifungal. 2) Is that any other cream without steroid but have similiar component as Kenacomb? 3) Except applying cream, is there any other surgery like laser treatment removing the fungus? 4) The O&G said I can apply the cream only if it is itchy, then will it cause resistance of the fungus if I only apply when necessary? Thx for reading and looking forward to some advice.
Did you get the week long rx for it? I was prescribed this after find out I had a yeast infection (5 years undiagnosed). I was given a week long rx, and yes the symptoms did get worse while I was on the treatment. It is the meds cleaning everything out, for me the entire canal was plugged with cottage cheese (it was so gross!). I did have a few more infections after that which i then treated with o/n meds along with a pill called Azo yeast.
Usually I use some warm salt water and it goes away for a while but it comes back...so I used DIFLUCAN only once and it worked great, I hadn't gotten the infection in over 2 weeks, things were great but then I had sex in the shower and i don't know if it was the water or if soap got in there but it came back...mildly. Then I had sex with my partner after and NOW HE HAS A TERRIBLE RASH on his penis..and some little bumps around the top of his shaft and Im so embarrassed.
I went and bought the over the counter stuff again and like before, it didn't work. I went to the Dr. (a new one because I have moved) and she did a yeast test. She gave me diflucan (two 150 mg tablets to be taken a week apart) and said she would call with the results. I took the first pill and received a call the next day and was told it is negative for yeast and for std.. After taking the first dose, the symptoms seemed to get better but after a week or so, they started up again.
well, maybe you didn't have a yeast infection? but yes! you can be allergic to it. i actually used a monistat 1 kit for my yeast infection earlier today. when i first inserted the ovule insert and applied the itch cream, it stung/burnt horribly. but i forced myself to fall asleep, and when i woke up a few hours later, it was A LOT better.
She doesn't seem bothered by the 2 nd yeast infection...and didn't say anything about the blood work but the lab didn't mark it as abnormal for some reason, even though it is... I checked my last 2 blood results from past physicals and they were: 11/14 /07 absolute lymph- 1008 % was 16.8 12/16/07 absolute lymph- 1198 % was 18.4 I had 2 blood tests in 2 months because with the first one he was doing it as part of my physical, the lab misplaced my results, so I came in for a repeat...
Then, if that didn't work, or only partially worked, I would encourage you to have your mom bring you in to see me. Sometimes a yeast infection--especially one that has been going on for awhile--needs stronger medications to clear it up. One that I particularly like is Diflucan--it comes in pills or oral suspension. Don't continue being miserable! Good luck!
Good luck and fingers crossed you don't get it because I did and it was sooo painful! The nystatin didn't work for me, I had to get diflucan and I've been on it for like 4 weeks! Still have one more pill to take this week!
Doesn't sound like fungus or yeast to me, especially if treatment for that didn't work. Much more likely is irritation, from skin rubbing against skin. I suggest you try over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone twice a day. If that fails, see a doc for a somewhat stronger preparation. This condition may recir, but it isn't catchy. And by the way, it happens quite often in folks who aren't overweight. Best. Dr.
Another possibility is that the Monistat 1 didn't work and the yeast infection just got worse. Still, I would see your doctor, and if it is in fact yeast, maybe he/she can give you Diflucan. Anyway - my friends and I have found that one-dose treatment of yeast infections isn't very effective. Don't know why... I'm sure plenty of others swear by them. But I've never had much luck with those and always go for the three-day or five-day treatment.
I went to the er and they diagnosed me w a yeast infection. I took 2 days of diflucan and it didn't work. I went back to the doc to get a sterioid cream to help with the burning and it hing and it has helped a bit. Noe I'm noticing these cuts on my vagina. like raw scars. bright red. and I'm still m having this burning sensation when I urinate. does this mean it could b something else. I'm worrying myself to death.
I made a mistake and had scatched down there during one night and ever since I have been feeling a itchy and burning sensation. I took Monastat 1 and Diflucan but that didn't seem to work. I'm still having discomfort. I started to get dry and then it was tissue like discharge. My menstrual cycle was very weird as well. Currently my vagina has been feeling better but I'm still getting burning sensation around the buttocks area.
He likes his food hot and spicy, and normally I do too, but you can imagine what tons of pepper feels like on a tongue with thrush. YOWZA! The diflucan didn't help much, so I started taking acidopholus supplements on my doctor's advice. They actually worked, and I don't take antibiotics at all without also taking acidopholus. You might want to ask your pharmacist about that one too. Congrats on the new baby!
