Diflucan didn't work

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan didn't work

After Nystatin, that didn't work the doctor gave me one pill of Diflucan for my candida. The situation instead of improving is getting worst. I have more candida then before and i also got mild fever, weakness, joint aches and liver pain. As i see in the posts many had problem with candida. Did someone already cured the candida with those drugs and did they have the same symptoms? I don't know anymore how to get out of this problem and doctors too as far as i see.
I'm also concerned that the Diflucan didn't seem to work at all, which makes me wonder whether the initial dx of yeast infection was even correct or whether the medication has triggered something else.
Mouse74 - if the diflucan isn't working then you either need another antifungal or it's not thrush. You may want to go to the doctor and get a swab done. Diflucan normally takes a couple of days to work. You can now get the tablet and a small tube of cream packaged together as you can use the cream externally and feel better (and often get instant relief) while you are waiting for the tablet to work.
I also took diflucan and didn't know I was pregnant. I took 150mg and then another 150mg 2 days later. I was about 1 week past conception when I took it. My doctor said I shouldn't worry about it but I'm having a hard time! When every website says not to take it I can't help but worry that it could have an effect on my baby.
I'm sleeping, however I'm finding the interuptions happening as they did before and now when I awake I don't feel as refreshed as i was getting before the die off stage started. I'm feeling a lot more pain and fatigue during the day and feel like we've got to hit this thing hard now. Still require pain medication in order to manage days and even nights as well. There was some improvement and now I feel I'm right back where I started from.
I notice no change as of today Sunday. He also prescribed diflucan 100mg for 14 days if medrol didn't help. I'm just not sure how much time I should give the medrol shot before realizing it is or isn't helping. I am desperate for some relief any help is appreciated.
OTC vagisil yeast tx-3 day didn't work and left me with no sleep because of perineum itching. One day OTC diflucan tx didn't work either. Wondering if this has kept my uterus from being fertile ground? And adding acidopholis to regimen. INSANE itching on perineum, espec @ night and when area is damp. Have had it for about a year...she thinks it's due to lots of regular sex....come ON!!!
They have put me on Diflucan, then Terazol when that didn't work. I got tested again last week and they are prescribing Diflucan again? Would it work this time if it didn't last? (The original visit I was cultured and it came back resistant to Diflucan, thus the Terazol applicator). As a side note, my most recent check also came back bv along with yeast! Help please! This is not a fun way to live, let alone have a happy sex life!!!
My GI gave me a one week prescription of diflucan basically because he didn't know what else to do. After taking 100 mg for 3 days, I noticed less bloating, could eat more normal foods without discomfort, and more energy/less brain fog. 2 days after stopping this, boom, symptoms come back along with blood in my urine after jogging. My doc is reluctant to put me on diflucan long term, but each time I end a short prescription, I ALWAYS have blood in my urine again, and the same stomach issues.
So I had the doc call in a prescription. I tookd that last Friday (6 days ago), it didn't work so I called the doc (weekend) and they told me to try an over the counter. I did that, nothin. I explained that I had just been on anti biotics 1-2 weeks ago. (that can result in a bad yeast infections right?) They just called in 2 more diflucan for me and i just took them yesterday. I am freaking. I just don't know if i'm impatient or..... Any suggestions??
My experience with diflucan is that it can take a few days to work. I think it's odd though that they didn't test you for a yeast infection. if your symptoms don't clear up within a few days i'd go back to the doctor or go to a different one and tell them you want to be tested to make sure it is indeed a yeast infection. I made the mistake 2 weeks ago of thinking i had a yeast infection only to find out it was a bad UTI.
when that didn't work I was given 2 Diflucan pills taken 3 days apart. That didn't work so I went back to the Dr. who looked under the microscope & said it looked like definately yeast. I have had cultures & STD testing done, all fine. So I was given a 7 day treatment of Terazol & 2 more Diflucan pills (take 5 days apart) to take at the same time as using the Terazol. So far, I'm still irritated & burning.
Did you get the week long rx for it? I was prescribed this after find out I had a yeast infection (5 years undiagnosed). I was given a week long rx, and yes the symptoms did get worse while I was on the treatment. It is the meds cleaning everything out, for me the entire canal was plugged with cottage cheese (it was so gross!). I did have a few more infections after that which i then treated with o/n meds along with a pill called Azo yeast.
He tried salt water but it didn't work and now its just getting worse and so is mine...what do i do?? Can someone help please. Should I use diflucan again?
I used some old MetroGel that I had (which i didn't realize isn't for yeast). It didn't work, so then I used the 1 day Monistat. After 24 hours I douched to get all that Monistat stuff out of my body. A day later, the infection was back again. I went to the dr. Sunday and he gave me diflucan. I have used it before, but this time, i was so nauseated and all day Monday i had a pain on my left side. Last night my body was really achey.
Just wait it out and let the diflucan work? Is this just a stubborn yeast especially since I waited so long to get treatment for it? I would just like some other womans opinion.
I tried another dose of Diflucan- it didn't work. The boyfriend went to the doctor and confirmed that he did not have an infection. I tried garlic clove suppositories- they didn't work. I tried Monistat 3 day treatment- it didn't work. I got tested for systemic candidiasis- results: negative. I tried 3 days of Diflucan WHILE doing a 7 day treatment of Tercanzole (sp). On the 6th day of Tercanzole (today), I visited a different doctor because I still had some mild itching.
diflucan is fluconazole, another anti-fungal. so if the terconazole didn't work, i don't know if the fluconazole will. and they both are category C during pregnancy. it's safer to use anti-fungals in cream or suppository form as they would then not enter the blood stream and carry the potential to cross the placental barrier. But i don't know... I would ask my doc if he thinks the diflucan will work, given that the terconazole didn't.
The next few days I purchased it again only because the store didn't have the 7 day cream. It still didn't work. I finally found the 7 day cream, tried it, it didn't work. After so many attempts to get rid if whatever it it OTC, I broke down and went to the dr. She didn't do an exam just asked questions . She said maybe it was diabetes and drew blood for that, but gave me Diflucan and another for the next week if symptoms persist. I used both and still nothing.
The results didn't really show yeast but the doctor gave me the standard treatment of diflucan because of my symptoms. The problem cleared up a bit but before long it was back. I went back in. The doctor tested again and said it's not yeast. Over the period of a little over a year I had this problem and went in about 6 different times. They tested for STD's with negative results. They at one point told me that I tested positive for a vaginal strep infection??
30 am I woke up with SEVERE stinging and cried for an hour. I took a bath to try and soothe it but that did not work. I also used an ice pack but that did nothing. I finally took some benadryl so that I could fall asleep. I had to call in sick to work today and go to urgent care. The doc gave me three dosages of diflucan. Am I allergic to Monistat? I heard there is alchohol in it....
I took my antibiotics and this time I tried to eat yogurt so I could advoid another yeast infection, but I guess it didn't work. I don't think I can use the monistat cream while being pregnant.
I was treated with Diflucan, no response, then a Bacterial antibiotic, no response, then three types of Mouth rinses, Magic Mouthwash, Lidocaine, and something else containing an antibiotic, didn't work. what workED, was baking soda prescribed by a Ears nose and throat specialist at a local ER I went to. I got so sick, i could no longer swallow and I couldn't take the pain. I don't know if you have the same thing but if it doesn't rub off its not thrush.
I have had a year of cyclical break outs on my tongue of very painful flesh colored bumps on both sides of my tongue and my LLMD thinks it is yeast so I have been taking diflucan for 6 weeks and the bumps went and way and have not come back....until tonight. One has popped up and usually more follow the next day or two. Has anyone had anything like this or can someone make a suggestion of another pill for yeast that would cure this for me?
Good luck and fingers crossed you don't get it because I did and it was sooo painful! The nystatin didn't work for me, I had to get diflucan and I've been on it for like 4 weeks! Still have one more pill to take this week!
pap smear and all clear no problems June yeast infection My doctor gave me diflucan that didn't work ended up having to go and buy monistat 3. My problem is the hard lumps and itchy bumps with paper cut like scratches in my vaginal area. what can I do to stop this madness?
So it might be worth it to get it identified. Terbinifine (Lamisil) seems to work better than Diflucan if you can get it for your purpose. You may need a prescription for it. So I don't know if you want to go through having to go to the office to get the culture done and it may be C. albicans anyway. But maybe your doctor can tell you if they have Terbinifine (Laimisil) cream for thrush that he can have sent to the pharmacy.
I went back time after time, and she prescribed me the cream once again... (which I thought was a little redundant considering it didn't work the first time) STILL didn't work. I cut out bread, anything with starch, or yeast in my diet. Started to eat more greens, but still relied on a bit of sugar.
