What was your risk ? When was your last risk? Generally, if the Diflucan or Nystatin does NOT work on your thrush, it's NOT thrush. Oral thrush is fairly common in many HIV negative individuals. Thrush does NOT equal HIV. HIV can NOT be diagnosed by ANY symptoms or lack of. You need to test 3 months after your LAST possible exposure ( unprotected anal/vaginal sex, IV drug use). Antibiotics are known to worsen oral thrush.

I took the Diflucan. Day 5 i got my period. What do i do now?? And can i re-fill my Diflucan to take when i am thru with the antibiotic?? And really no tampons?? at all??

I got a CBC, thyroid, blood sugar, mono and strep test- all results fine. My doctor wants me to go to the ENT next. I had my annual in April and hiv test was negative...

I know HIV is not only related to Oral Thrush, and I realize I need those tests done but any other information as to why the medication wouldn't be working would be great.

t white off, its most likely not thrush and something else. Have you considered going to a dentist or an oral surgeon to get a biopsy of the tissue to see what it may be under a microscope? You might want to look into that.

I was on nystatin for 6 weeks and then took diflucan for a week and even did an oral nystatin for 7 days. I have just been to my regular doc and wondering if a dentist would be more helpful with this. Are there any over the counter remedies I can do too? Thanks!!

What else can I take for resistant thrush if that is what it is? I take a high probiotic count, and I am suspicious i am allergic to diary ever since I had C. Diff (I get blotchy skin on my stomach when i consume dairy now) otherwise I would down Kefir like no tomorrow. Please help! I want this yeast to stay away, but it appears to be extremely resistant.

My son had to take the nystatin for like 10 days before we saw any relief. I also had to apply it to my nipples as well to make sure we weren't passing the infection back and forth. Thrush can be very difficult to treat...be consistent with the medication and if after a week + you still don't see any relief, they do make diflucan in an oral suspension that babies can take. Diflucan is a stronger yeast killer.

Does this sound like thyroid to you and do you know why i would keep getting oral thrush? I have been treated many times with diflucan for vaginal yeast but the oral didn't devlop until after 7 months of flagyl, 2 steroid shots, ashtama inhlaer and bactrium treatment. Now it won't go away with diflucan treatment.

Hi Kathlene-did you get rid of fungus?my-you have troubles.I feel chronic illness too.I am sure I suffer from fungal prob-yrs of it- i cured myself 8 yrs ago naturally when i felt deathly ill and couldnt eat without a reaction..but now I eat like normal people do-and I suffer for it.I cant get a dx of it-as its a normal thing to have apparently unless it looks like a mouth full of it.Diflucan was prescribed back then-so 1 dr did let me try it.it didnt work at all-.

Hi....I am prone to getting yeast infections and I get them from taking oral antibiotics....every time I need to take time I ask for Diflucan to kill the yeast....talk to ur dr regarding this med to help u. U may want to talk to a pharmacist to be sure nothing u r taking could be adding to ur thrush. U may also want to try a mouth wash rise every night to help with this.

Karen I just had to come back and tell you I know how you feel and I am so very sorry, it is so hard to go through this tx and since all symptoms are different it is very difficult.

I am on my third round of nystatin oral mouth wash swish and spit and the oral thrush just keeps coming back. It was been 2 months with this now. I can't swallow the meds because I am pregnant. Is this recurrent oral thrush because I'm pregnant making me immunosuppressed or are my HiV results false negatives? (Each test was the HIV1 HIV2 combo Ab/Ag test). I am sorry I am so neurotic, just pregnancy has my nerves in overdrive.

When it failed to clear, I went to my doctor who examined me and prescribed more thrush treatment. After three lots of thrush treatment, I was terrified that I had an STD and went to a private clinic and was tested for several STD's as well as thrush. The results were clear. The pain seemed to start to clear, although after a weekend away with the other man, it returned almost immediately after sleeping with my long term partner.

Right now, following 10 days of antibiotics for a UTI (Cipro) I have very bad thrush and am now on my 3rd bottle of Nystatin swish and swallow and have seen NO improvement at all. I am going to ask my dr for the mycelex troches when I see him this week. Good Luck to you.

They are never terrible, but they were bad enough for me to get prescribed Diflucan. I had a pill left over and took that yesterday with the onset of this new infection. I am on birth control, but have been since I started dating him. While we took a break (about 2 months), I was infection free! The problem must lie with him- either the oral sex itself, or his dental hygiene. Can not-so-great dental hygiene from my partner lead to yeast infections?

Dameon just turned a month old yesterday, and I've noticed some small white rings on his lips, and they will NOT come off with wiping, or washing off with a washcloth, I'm just curious if this could be thrush?? About 3 weeks later my wife got a thrush infection and a week after that I got some read spots on head of penis and under foreskin. These disappeared in a few days but then I noticed a purulent discharge and so went to GU clinic. Diagnosed as NSU and over next three months it kept recurring despite abstaining from sex and being treated with Azithromycin 1 dose, Doxycycline 1 week, Erythromycin + Metronidazole 1 week, and lastly Azithromycin again for 5 days.

Hi there, You have what is called thrush in your mouth. You can go to your general practicioner for this. Basically it's a yeast infection in your mouth from too much antibiotics. An oral dose of Diflucan or any other oral meds to treat yeast infections will work.

I have been getting oral thrush off and on for maybe 10/15 years. I was recently diagnosed with c-diff. Is there a possibility that these two things are associated with each other ? The c-diff has already progressed to colitis. Okay I was in hospital for cdiff an week later I got oral thrush now one of my tonsil swollen..when I swollow it irritates my ear ...and I have itchy throat..I been taking diflucan and using peroxide...feel like under my chin might be swollen I only feel it when I hold my head up...I'm so scared my partner donates ever month so he's clean but i have more than pne partner my papillae is also swollen at the back.. ...I'm having anxiety attacks I'm so scared...

I have had it twice during my pregnancy and I do all the same things as you. I actually used Canestan 6 day treatment and would use the cream for the outside every day for a little bit after symptoms were gone just to make sure. They can be pesky and reoccur or even be tough to get rid of simply because of hormones. What also helped me was just a nice cold cloth before bed and treatment! It's pretty soothing!
