Diflucan and nystatin

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan and nystatin

diflucan

Avatar n tn I have been prescribed Nystatin rinse with little or no effect, and Diflucan 200mg first day and 100mg for six following days. All no resolution. I have had three HIV tests August 11, 2008, August 29, 2008 and October 10, 2008 all negative. I did take a course of antibiotics for three weeks in mid-August to early September including Doxycycline. Two questions, is it typical for oral candidiasis to be tough to clear up?
Avatar n tn yeah nystatin is actually not as effective...BUUUT much safer since it's not absorbed into the blood barrier so..your doctor will probably have no problem letting you try nystatin or nystatin WITH diflucan. I've heard you can take high amounts of that pill with little risk. Good luck with that... my doctor looked at me stupid when I asked about Candida.. I know lots of doctors discount it but i'm glad you have a diagnosis.
674021 tn?1295489762 My daughter had thrush when she was a newborn as well, and dr. also prescribed Nystatin. It worked, but took a while. I also had to apply some topically to my bbs, because I was breastfeeding. You can keep passing it back and forth!
Avatar f tn I've had diabetes for almost 40 years, I'm IN my 40's, a female married to same man (thus one sexual partner) for over 25yrs. My GP recently dx'd me w/double ear infection & put me on Omnicef (I am an SJS survivor so antibiotics are a dangerous area for me as I developed SJS after taking Bactrim.. for an ear infection, no less!
1763947 tn?1334055319 I have had a year of cyclical break outs on my tongue of very painful flesh colored bumps on both sides of my tongue and my LLMD thinks it is yeast so I have been taking diflucan for 6 weeks and the bumps went and way and have not come back....until tonight. One has popped up and usually more follow the next day or two. Has anyone had anything like this or can someone make a suggestion of another pill for yeast that would cure this for me?
1369218 tn?1282423884 I was on nystatin for 6 weeks and then took diflucan for a week and even did an oral nystatin for 7 days. I have just been to my regular doc and wondering if a dentist would be more helpful with this. Are there any over the counter remedies I can do too? Thanks!!
Avatar f tn I had requested a prescription of Nystatin 1 million units and Diflucan 200mg for some skin fungus. I only took the meds for 1 month. After the month on the anti-fungals my husband noticed I no longer had my nightly episodes of sleep apnea. It's been 14 months with no re-occurance. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar m tn If you felt terrible after a Nystatin pill, then I would venture to say that yes, you have a yeast problem. Yeast Cleanse is the only supplement that has kept my yeast in check. Three or four others did nothing for me. It's important to keep the yeast in check as it can block treatment.
1423392 tn?1286590390 I have to use a cane and I hate it but with the neuro Lyme, I never know how my balance will be. I hate using it but after falling om my butt one time I have learned to be humble.
20797525 tn?1510602613 Every visit ending the same with a prescription for Diflucan, topical nystatin and steroid cream or drying powders. NOTHING WORKS. The snowball doesn't stop there. About three to four months ago, let's say August, is when I started having vaginal yeast, BV, UTI's, infection after infection. I have tried every single medication under the sun with not a day of relief. Every doctor I go to looks me over, does some tests, and ALWAYS sends me home with Diflucan or another treatment.
1070570 tn?1283436213 I believe there may be a connection with yeast overgrowth and FM. I plan to test out the nystatin and diflucan and see if I feel better after killing the yeast. I am nervous about the die off effects. The whole yeast diet it basically avoiding all sugars, candies, and white bread/flours, and caffeine, and lots of other things should be avoided. I guess it just depends on what you can do. I can tell I'm going to have a hard time with the diet!
Avatar f tn the above or Nystatin? After reaction to Diflucan am afraid to try again. Is there any other remedy. Of late cream doesn't seem to work but maybe I am not being diligent enough caring for the area. Sometimes I lay gauze in area to absorb the seeping & moisture. Is that wise? Last of all, is there any danger that this could turn into something more serious? I have never gone to dermatologist for this...should I?
Avatar n tn When symptoms worsened, I was told to take another one. Same story. Was next prescribed Nystatin swish and swallow. Same story (took for 5 days). Was next prescribed antifungal lozenges but decided that a yeast test was necessary after about 3 of them. No yeast showed up. I still have a terrible, chronic bitter taste in my mouth. Could this be the result of so many anti-fungals in three weeks time?
Avatar f tn The main thing I am wanting to know is what was used, for how long, in what dosage and what the die-off effects were. We are looking at S. Boulardi, Nystatin, Diflucan as our main options. Thank you for any help.
Avatar f tn s been on Oraxim and azithromycin for almost 2 years, has been getting more and more tired and unwell over the last few months and we are trying to figure out if his lyme is worsening, or if he could be getting grotty effects from the antibiotics. Personally I think it's probably the lyme and maybe he has developed resistance to these abx. But my husband wants it to be the antibiotics instead, he cannot face the idea that the disease may actually have worsened again.
Avatar n tn I also have this problem along with bad sinus swelling and white stuff on my toungue and a vaginal yeast infection. I've had the cream, oral nystatin and diflucan and none helped at all! I'm also ver gassy bloated and constipated all the tim and tired. Dloes is sound like systematic candida?? My doctors think I'm nuts!
Avatar n tn I went to my gyno with severe irritation on my genitals, and burning urination. Initial diagnosis was a yeast infection as well as a bladder infection. She prescribed me diflucan, an antibiotic, and nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide cream. I wasn't able to immediately pick up the medications, and didn't begin treatment for another 10 hours or so. The next day I was still in moderate pain with extremely painful urination. I continued with the antibiotic and triamcinolone cream.
Avatar m tn Can feel better in 2-3 weeks with meds (cipro with and without diflucan) or without meds, but ejaculating during this makes it last longer (had sex and masturbated twice during current "flare", going on 7 weeks of length). Occasional minor discomfort after urinating, especially when it is more concentrated. No discharge or itching. Dull ache and occasional sharper pain when touched around the opening, around the backside of head, and sometimes a bit down the shaft.

Avatar m tn Perfect. Everyone is different, but diflucan is the only thing that works on yeast infections for me. I hope you get relief soon.
Avatar f tn I'm 8 weeks and my nipples really itch all the time what can I use to relieve the itch?
569479 tn?1247244001 Also, ask for nystatin cream and extra steroid cream. Take the diflucan and use the nystatin + steroid cream and it will go away. The doctor will tell you nystatin already has steroids in it. But ask for additional steroid cream or it will come back over and over again. It is like a mutant yeast that takes multiple visits to get rid of. I’m a diabetic and that is a monthly thing for me. I went through two years of it. Needed eight of the diucan and almost three weeks of nystatin.
Avatar f tn Yes, yeast can and does cause a rash and itching/burning sensation. Typically the areas affected are the groin area and under the breasts. Sometimes under the belly if there is a bit of extra "fluff". Nystatin powder of Tegretol shampoo can work very well in these areas. Diflucan is a great drug for treating yeast that's "everywhere". Colonoscopy won't cause yeast or GI problems, but is often done because of pre-existing GI problems. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn i then started having anal burning and ithing and went back to the doctor which they beleived i had an allergic reaction to the flaygl (im allergic to diflucan as well). still having symptoms and they said it was yeast and gave me nystatin for the anal area and terconazol for vaginal. the itching and burning is not inside the anus but more perianal and is more irritated after bowel movements. i know i cant test for herpes for 3 months but would the symptoms last this long!
1654058 tn?1407159066 So sorry to hear about the sores, corner of mouth in the mouth., I had them too and at first tried the nystatin but then someone said monostat and that worked. Man what a trip this tx is. Also as OH said probiotics are good I took them as well as ate yogurt every day.
Avatar n tn Right now, following 10 days of antibiotics for a UTI (Cipro) I have very bad thrush and am now on my 3rd bottle of Nystatin swish and swallow and have seen NO improvement at all. I am going to ask my dr for the mycelex troches when I see him this week. Good Luck to you.
