Avatar n tn Be sure that you apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30 when staying outdoors when using tretinoin. Do not pick on the red spots and try to observe if these spots appear to worsen with tretinoin use. If itching and scaling over the areas occur , then you may need to have this assessed by your physician prescriber.
1335691 tn?1275733267 Bacteria on the skin feed off this excess oil (sebum) blocking the pores and resulting in spots. The standard treatment for acne is a course of oral antibiotics such as oxytetracycline and a topical retinoid like Differin. Get a prescription for these from your doctor. Elevated androgen levels are common during adolesence and early 20s. They would exist whether or not you masturbated. Best Wishes, Eloise.
Avatar n tn no results Abt two months ago, I was prescribed Solodyn, I use neutrogena creamy wash, Retin-A and some hydroquinone for the dark spots. The solodyn make me break out in a HEAP of HIVES !! so I stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago and now I have been prescribe Bactrim? It seems that antibiotics are the ONLY thing that cure my acne since I have really oily skin. The topicals dry it out in the beginning, and I only apply a little, but then my sebaceous glands quickly make up for the lack of oil.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how to get rid of age spots? Can't afford expensive surgery so need something I can do at home. Yes, they are AGE SPOTS not cancer - I checked with my family MD. But she didn't give me any tips on how to get rid of them (I forgot to ask). They're on my face, small but what can I say... vanity!
Avatar n tn Dermatologists have found that the best prescription acne gel is Differin. Differin is especially effective when used in conjunction with oral treatment such as antibiotics or anti-androgens (for females only).
Avatar m tn I started using Differin in May, but I now realize Differin also contains Adapalene. Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun. I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.

Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar n tn Discuss ways to control your acne with your dermatologist. If you are looking for a topical treatment, Differin is very effective and generally well tolerated. If your skin reacts easily to topical treatments, an oral medication such as Oxytetracycline may be better for you. Discuss the features and benefits of these with your dermatologist.
Avatar m tn have you tried differin its a topical medicine, but its the only thing that did work for me. the doctor perscribed it for me.. and it really works.. the eating healthy thing doesnt work. im really active and eat healthy, but i sweat pretty bad and i get pimples anyways. the natural sometimes wont work. you can also go to walmart and get the face wash called seabreeze. i think thats how its spelled but its the best kind of acne medicine and its the most natural.
Avatar f tn "Age spots" are normal, yes, but so is skin cancer. Benign age spots generally don't sting. You should have it checked out - but meanwhile, look up images online for "actinic keratosis" (a common precancerous lesion), basal cell skin cancer, and squamous cell skin cancer.
Avatar m tn Do not pop spots or blackheads. This seldom improves their appearance and will spread the bacteria under the skin causing future breakouts. There are many scrubs and masks on the market which can improve the appearance of blackheads. If they are of limited benefit to you, ask your doctor about Differin gel. This is a topical retinoid which contains Adapalene 0.1%. It works deep into your pores and is effective at clearing both acne and blackheads. Eloise.
Avatar m tn he said since i been taking minocycline 100 mg daily for 2 years and using the retin a micro 0.1% for 2 years and im still breaking out i should try something new like it may be wearing off....he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.
Avatar n tn I got Differin from the doctor and used it for 6 months with no results. Is he to young to start to serious ritual? He is adopted and his birth mom has very serious acne. He is very worried about all these pimples. He started getting them at nine. The doctor told me they aren't really acne but I forgot what he called them so I could look them up.
Avatar f tn s a risk that tetracyclines may lessen the contraceptive properties of the pill. Useful prescription topical lotions for acne include Duac gel, Differin and Dalacin-T. For more information check out my advice on The Acne Forum.
Avatar n tn This keeps my skin clean but has not spotted spots. What I think the mian cause for my spots are the final stages of puberty, like I am very skinny still and am not as build as my friends and I reckon my spots will clear up by themselves when I am fully grown and finshed turning into a man? Could my theory be right? Because I have read about girls gettign breakouts during their menstral cycle when at this time their bodies change, and I think this is the same for me but with puberty?
Avatar n tn Hi. See your doctor for a topical retinoid called Differin (adapalene 0.1%). This is very good at dealing with blackheads and acne. Do not try to remove the blackheads by squeezing as this can spread bacteria under the skin causing more breakouts. It can also delay healing and lead to secondary infection. A good face wash for oily skin is Estee Lauder's Sparkling Clean. Washing alone will not heal acne or blackheads so do ask your doctor about Differin.
Avatar m tn He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale. The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually. Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away. Please help.
Avatar n tn The only way to prevent age spots is to use liberal amounts of sunscreen before the age of forty, avoid the sun, and wear protective clothing. The newest treatment for age spots is an alpha hydroxy acid gel or beta hydroxy acid gel. Retin-A cream, alpha hydroxyacid peels, and liquid nitrogen therapy are other options. If still the symptoms do not improve then pls get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist as without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough. I hope that helps.
Avatar n tn They stung a little at first but are now alot more sensative and when i wear pants it stings badly from the rubbing against the material. I went to my GP who referred me to a Dermatologist and she told me that they were age spots eventhough i am only 38 years old, she said you can get them over the ages of 21.

I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production, which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
Avatar m tn Since I turned 25, I started getting pimples here and there. The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
