Do not use any alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin and Tazorac) and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 72 hours after the treatment. Also any scarubbing or acne soaps should be avoided for atleast 1 week after the miscrodermabrasion procedure.
A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine.
About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
ve really started to spread. We just went to a dermatologist and he suggested Tazorac. Everything I have read about the topical solution does not seem good! It makes the area inflamed, red, itchy and it does not clear the warts. I'm very concerned for my son and don't want him to be embarrassed at this young age. What should I do?????
Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it).
he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
For as long as I can remember I have had small red bumps, almost pimple like, on my thighs and upper arms. I don't hardly ever shave my thighs, and I don't shave my arms, so it can't be that. I have been sitting in the sun for a few days and have a slight tan on my arms etc, and it's still there so sun isn't getting rid of it.
I went to the doctors and all they said was that it was lack of vitimans - which I doubt is true since my eating habits haven't changed....
He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale.The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually.Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away.Please help.
Yea, unfortunately it is extremely irritating and drying. You're not suppose to put it on "healing" skin although up until recently I never understood how the body healed and how long it actually took. Unfortunately, I always think of questions after my appointment :p. Anyways, thanks for your input and help. I think this time I'm going to try to let my skin heal naturally and gently. I've used tazorac previous times and the bump just grew back.
i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production,which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
Since I turned 25, I started getting pimples here and there. The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
I messed with it a little bit, and the next day it had swollen up and was warm, like an infection. Since then, I have been using Abreva and Differin on it. The Differin makes the largest difference – it reduces the size significantly.

Hi I've recently been using differin gel, but about a week ago I started breaking out bad and decided to take a week long break from the gel to heal my skin. I was wondering if taking a week long break was a good idea or not?
I got Differin from the doctor and used it for 6 months with no results. Is he to young to start to serious ritual? He is adopted and his birth mom has very serious acne. Hi, I have been using differin every alternate nights for 3 months without problems. But just last sun, I rubbed some onto my eyelids and facial rashes started to explode. They were not itchy at first but started to spread and becoming very itchy. My Gp said its contact dermatitis. But how could it be as I have been using it for 3 months? I put hydrocortisone cream on them but nothing seems to subside. Now my whole face is covered with itchy swell rashes. What should I do?
well it did not happen, the next day it became a blister and all of them look twice as big and it was crusting...by the next day it was crusting and oozing out honey colored liquid and forming a very dark scab and really swollen.and my lower lip closest to the acne is very itchy and had small little blister infact my whole lower lip was very itchy so i decided to go to ER... to my horror the Dr. on duty told me that i have facial impetigo..... Yesterday night both the bottom of my legs gots very itchy. I did itch and then applied benedryl lotion on them. I also noticed that my hair stubles had all of a sudden grown out and that I have some dark reddish to blackish(maybe extremely dark brown) type of scab like marks on my legs. I had actually noticed them a few minutes after the itch attack. The spots are tiny pinprick size and do feel just a little raised. A scab from iching cannot form that quickly.
I also have a strange type of Graves disease and am a breast cancer survivor. I developed this red and itchy rash around the base of my neck about a year ago. It is burning sometimes. My dermatologist is stumped. It went away once but recently came back. Tonight it is bothering me so much I am frantically looking on the internet to see if I can find out anything. I recently (1 month maybe) got this interesting patch of small bumps and redness just under the outer corner of my left eye. It's about the size of a dime, and pretty much came from nowhere. It is not painful, and doesn't ooze or anything. I thought perhaps they were small clogged pores, but when pressed on, nothing came out.
They have also spread to one of my legs and a few on one of my hands. I have been to the dermatologist multiple times and have tried many things; many forms of Tazorac, salicylic acid (moisturizers, cleansers, toners), all kinds of anti-aging medications (i mean ALL kinds), apple cider vinegar, no make-up, aloe vera, ect ect ect. I've tried everything and anything other than surgery. I still have all of them and more.
