Common Questions and Answers about Differin and microdermabrasion

differin

Avatar n tn Hello, Do not use any alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin and Tazorac) and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 72 hours after the treatment. Also any scarubbing or acne soaps should be avoided for atleast 1 week after the miscrodermabrasion procedure.
1632818 tn?1299941302 She told me to buy some cetaphil cleanser and gave me a sample, and then she prescribed me differin which she said was for my "acne". I found this strange since I only had one pimple on my chin, and that's about as bad as it ever gets (and I wasn't bothered by having a pimple). I clarified that my problem was that my skin was sensitive, sore and feels like its burning after washing, and asked if differin would dry out my skin.
2086855 tn?1332781293 Some say its not good and others say its okay and wont affect your baby. Ive been wanting to do one and still undecided, im really in need of one. A facial wont hurt so i guess ill do that first im almost done with pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Large pores can be easily dealt with proper cleansing and frequent toning and moisturizing of the skin. Other treatments to consider include microdermabrasion, skin resurfacing lasers and chemical skin peels. In my opinion you should discuss these treatment options with a cosmetologist/dermatologist. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn Is it normal to have such a reaction and if so, how can I help this heal, and how long will it probably take? By the way, I stopped applying the Differin when I got the reaction. Thanks.
Avatar f tn i heard many good thing for snail cream espesially for acne and scars and i will try it for my scars and me... you can try it... you can also try a microdermabrasion,,, i suggest you epidermx II from internet. i went to dermatologist many times... the same and the same... i will try this 2 i said to you...
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it).
Avatar m tn he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar m tn i know they are not wrinkles, as i am not old enough to have wrinkles (still in twenties) and they are not bags because they are too low on my face to be bags (at least i think so) and i know for sure that they are not scars or anything like that.
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale. The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually. Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away. Please help.
Avatar n tn she used a stronger chemical peel than my first time so my skin was much more sensitive for the microdermabrasion.. Nonetheless, due to the microdermabrasion there are small areas of my skin now that look completely raw- Last time I had this same procedure done my skin was a little dry, but not raw. I'm slightly concerned because I have prom this saturday and I have absolutely no idea how to treat raw skin! I have 3 days...
Avatar f tn I am almost 50 years old, have dry skin, brown spots on my face from early years using tanning beds and the sun and am showing little wrinkles between the brows, smile line and crows feet by the eyes. I did go to a Aesthetician for some regiment to use on my face since I have really never used skin care products. The product that was recommended for my face and the issues I mentioned was Obagi System by NU-Derm.
Avatar f tn They are extremely noticable, they told me they will go away with time and microdermabrasion. It has been some time and I have received about 8 microdermabrasion treatments. They have not gone away, will it take more time or have I doomed my face :/ Thanks so much for your time. I am so stressed out about this situation.
Avatar m tn i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. Avatar n tn I am a fair-skinned 57 yearold woman who has been on Retinoids since I was thirty due to adult female acne. I was on Renova for a few years, then Tazarotene, but now am on generic Retin-A 0.01% for cost reasons. My other meds are for mood, allergy, hypothyrhoid, cholesterol, and hormone-replacement therapy. My skin is lovely except for enlarged pores on my nose and flakes around my nostrils. I can pull them off one at a time with tweezers, but it's very time consuming.
Avatar m tn Since I turned 25, I started getting pimples here and there. The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
Avatar f tn I have been plucking my upper lip hair for about 8 years now and over the last 2 years my upper lip is always very dry and sensitive and peels. Its very embarrassing and noticable and its usually a shade darker than my skin and now my hair seems to grow alot more and much noticable under the skin, also the roots of the hairs like little black dots under my skin show all the time. My hair grows like everyday and its such a pain to take care of now. Would laser hair removal help?
384150 tn?1399904816 Hi Lisa, I'd be interested in knowing the answer to that myself...I have a microdermabrasion kit from Oil of Olay, and I wanted to do it a couple days ago, but didn't know if I should. I know it penetrates the skin and causes mild tingling, that's why I was concerned...I'd go shopping instead too!
Avatar m tn I messed with it a little bit, and the next day it had swollen up and was warm, like an infection. Since then, I have been using Abreva and Differin on it. The Differin makes the largest difference – it reduces the size significantly. When it first showed up, it looked a lot like this picture: http://www.adamjbc.f2s.com/dlc/test/Photo-0171.jpg. It no longer has a white tip, and there are two small bumps (neither red nor painful) below it.
