Both Allegra and Zyrtec are 24 hour medications in my area. I have known several people who took 3 Zyrtec in one day, and my allergist says that you can't really OD on antihistimines. You should be sure to drink PLENTY of water and watch for signs of constipation and dehydration. You should make sure that your dr is well aware of how much of these meds you are taking to make sure that they are ok with any other medications you maybe taking.

I would call your doctor. I know plain Zyrtec is fine to take, but I'm not clear on Zyrtec-D. I believe the only difference is that it has Pseudoephedrine in it, but I'm not 100% and your doctor would be the safest to ask. You should just be able to call and ask and find out over the phone.

Thanks, Selma. I do take the zyrtec at night, but I guess it is not enough. Last time I was at the doctor he told me to take claritin-D in the morning and zyrtec at night. I really didn't want to try the claritin-D because it is a decongestant and they make me feel crazy and just seem to drain everything into my chest. Maybe I can ask about taking regular claritin in the morning and zyrtec at night. May I ask what you are and were taking?

Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). Hi FM. I don't know anything about giving allergy pills, but it sounds like you're making the right decision and I wouldn't EVEN follow your vets advice about the long term use of a steriod. I seem to have acquired allergies myself and this year has been especially bad so I hear you there. IMO, I'd give the pills to Akira when the season is at it's worst which naturally, is right now.

t know of any problem with taking Zyrtec-D with Plavix. You can also read your medication leaflets with the medications to check or check with your pharmacist. If you are being treated for high blood pressure or heart disease/vascular problem, I would NOT recommend taking the Zyrtec-D WITHOUT discussing this with your physician.

Unfortunately it will start back up but you will find that the time becomes longer and longer between pills until your life is back in your hands no more itching. I only had to take 21 Hydroxyzine's out of the 30 pills it took about 45 days. Good Luck hopefully it will cure you. I went thru hell I understand.

Without the Zyrtec, my hives are not only unbearable but they also start to present in my throat, mouth and on my lips, so going without it is not really an option for me.

I have used patanol in the past but the eye Dr is now recommending patasol which is very expensive. I want to try Zyrtec d instead of Zyrtec which gives me some releif. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

I cm chemically sensitive and find many creams irritating. I searched on-line to find out the ingredients in pramasone and eletone and could find nothing. I received samples of these from a dermatologist and without the ingredients. I am unable to find them on the web. Is there a site open to the public that lists ingredients? I was also advised to take Zyrtec and wondered if Zyrtec had any more benefit for skin reactions thank Claritin. Claritin didn't help at all.

Zyrtec can cause side effects like skin nodules, rash, pruritis (itching), acne, urticaria, photosensitivity reactions and eczema. So, the itchy red cheeks could be due to Zyrtec. I have been feeling much better on my vitamin D and zyrtec regiment. Here we are 2 years down the road and I woke up in the middle of the night with the left side of my cheek swollen up. I went to urgent care center in the morning and took 2 Benadryl before I went. 2 hours had passed and the swelling didn't change so the doctor thought that it was a infection in my mouth or an irritation from a tooth. He put me on a Zpak and sent me home.

I was told by my doctor that you can take just about anything but to stay away from the d. Take Claritin but not Claritin D, etc... Look for that d word on any sinus or allergy meds.

My doctor was OK with me taking zyrtec. You just have to make sure to drink lots and lots of water.

I am a major allergy sufferer! Clarifying and Zyrtec are safe to take. However! Do not get the ones with the "D" added onto them (claritin d) because that is either not studied enough yet or not recommended. I take claritin as needed. I take prilosec every day and my doctor says its fine. I would get off the zyrtec D and start the 24 hour zyrtec liquigels. You only take it once a day. You don't need the decongestant in the zyrtec D. You may be stuffy for a few days until you ween yourself off the decongestant but you will be okay. If you have that much diarrhea try taking some iron pills. I take 324 mg b/c of low iron. It makes you go a couple of times a day and regulates you and your stool.

THANK YOU!!! Yes this is sooo helpful! I will def have to go out and get this Zyrtec or claratin. I didn't know you could give them these things, all I knew is that benadryl was safe and I gave him the children's kind so it wouldn't have alcohol in it. Pills are a pain but I'd rather give him pills now then deal with this itching. I feel so bad for him and I have a 10 month old who crawls all over and is covered in hair that's been shed.
