whats the difference between xanax and ativan? Drs. refuse to give me xanax because they say its addicting. But the ativan only helps if i take it b4 ed as prescribed. I still have panic attacks during the day. The xanax was most helpful. But then i dnt want to get addicted to them. my panic attacks are bad. i feel like my head is going to erupt, explode. i feel like i'm going to get n a car wreck. i always feel like im goin ti die n the most horrible way.
and if so what helps you? How long does Zoloft take to actually start making a difference. Also, i have Xanax for emergencies.
What is the difference between all the benzodiazepines? I mean, why does a doctor prescribe Xanax to one person, Ativan to another, Klonopin to someone else? I know they're all "anxiolytic" (the ones I mentioned) but what makes one better than another? The reason I'm asking is because I take Ativan occasionally but it really knocks me for a loop (which isn't always a bad thing).
Clonazepam (Klonipin) and diazepam (Valium) are longer acting benzos than the alp. and loraz. (i.e. Xanax and Ativan). Doctors will usually prescribe the longer acting ones for longer periods of time while the others are usually prescribed on an as needed, short term basis. In my opinion, all are pretty good at what they are designed to do.
ADs like SSRIs are the most commonly prescribed...examples are Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, Celexa, etc....
I'm a 24 year old grad student. When I was 16, I was diagnosed with depression and, after some trial and error with different meds/dosages, have been functioning really well on 150mg/daily of Zoloft. Sometime last October (possibly September, I don't really remember), I asked my doc to switch me to something else to curb the Zoloft side effects that I couldn't deal with anymore.
My dr has advised me to up my dose of zoloft, im currently taking 50mg and he fills cause im still suffering from anxiety pretty bad that an increase would be beneficial to me. He has said i can split a 25mg in half to start out cause im scared to get side effects all over again. I do also take xanax 0.5 mg three times a day too. I would just like to know if its likely i will feel side effects all over again ???
I too notice a difference in how I feel taking Zoloft vs. Sertraline. I like Sertraline better though because I don't feel as numbed out and my sex drive is not affected.
due to anxiety issues I was taking xanax for 3 weeks then switched to klonopin for 3 weeks, also 2 weeks ago i started taking zoloft. The xanax was .5 mg 4 times a day and the klonopin is 1mg morning .5 lunch, .5 dinner and 1mg bedtime. zoloft started last week at 25mg and now is 50 mg. I built a tolerance for the xanax and now it seems them sames is happening with klonopin. I have a lack of appettite and anxiety.

As for the difference between Xanax and valium, valium lasts longer in the body, though not as long as klonopin, but how well any drug will work is, again, dependent on you individually, so no one can tell you how it will feel. We have different brains and we experience drugs differently. Lots of people get tired when a benzo wears off, it's just the way it is. Many get tired while it's working. Others don't.
I am now completing my second week on Zoloft. I have been three weeks off of xanax and still my panic symptoms persist. I have taken leave from work and am on my third week away. It seems that panic I experienced while driving which was akin to near fainting/black out has given me a phobia towards driving. As some of you may know.. I have been clean 14 days from hydrocodone.. and my doctor put me on Zoloft for anxiety (helps A LOT). I was recently upped to 150mg of zoloft. I had my first every anxiety attack ever and then became very depressed. My doctor put me on 30mg of lexapro for six weeks and I seemed to be getting worse. He had me switch to 100mg of zoloft for a week and then increase to 150mg. Since I've been at 150mg, I have felt very tired and more anxious at the same time. It has been causing me to take xanax again after almost stopping. I was down to less than 0.5mg per day. Now I'm back to 1.
Can anyone tell me what the difference between Xanax and Niravam, my doc put me on Niravam telling me that it stays in my system longer and is no addictive. Everything I have seen states they are exactly the same other than brand name. I know Xanax is cheaper so if they are the same I want to go with it. I am trying to figure out if it is worth keep bringing up. Please help.
i also tried others before zoloft that made me reallyreally bad. zoloft after the first week or so has made me a lot better. i see a significant difference with this medicine. i would say maybe ask your dr if you can cut them in half pr just give it another go for a little bit longer. good luck to you. and if you need to talk you know where to find me lol.

Started taking Zoloft like 2 weeks ago. Isn't really helping my depression so the doctor is going to switch me to Lexapro. Anyway, today, I have noticed a lot of physical symptoms: I CANNOT concentrate for the life of me, really groggy feeling, feel like I am going to throw up. Since I started taking it, my boyfriend finds me to be impossible to deal with (I turn everything into an argument, I twist everything he says around, etc.).
he might put you on an antidepressant to help with the panic. theres a difference between anti anxiety meds such as effexor that is mainly used to target the panic disorder and Zoloft is an antidepressant which im sure you know but is safer for pregnant woman to take ..it targets mainly depression but is suppose to help with the attacks. Never worked well for me though. Youll be ok :) just feet up..
I had been on Xanax, taking three 0.25 mg. tablets a day. I was tapered off this slowly and prescribed Klonopin, at one 0.5 mg. a day, which I was told would be better because it lasts longer. From my experience, the Xanax was much more effective. Has anyone else experienced this difference?
