Difference between valtrex and zovirax

Common Questions and Answers about Difference between valtrex and zovirax

valtrex

There is only a 12 hour healing time difference between the prescription zovirax cream ( it's listed as $141/tube on drugstore.com without insurance ) and a $3 moisturizer. I can not in good faith recommend using something that expensive for little to no value when there are other options. I am glad that it helps you but it's really not worth the expense which is why we don't recommend it here on the board.
Acyclovir (Zovirax) and famciclovir (Famvir) are similarly nontoxic. The official prescribing information for valacyclovir indicates a 1% chance of minor abnormalities of liver function in people taking valacyclovir, which was slightly higher than 0.5% for placebo. That difference was not statistically significant and there is no suggestion even for routine liver tests in people taking the drug.
Thanks.....have been reading up here on the difference between the Herpes tests and will ask for the specific HSV test instead.. It was an STD testing clinic I went to and the DR happened to be an infectious disease specialist. Am not happy with the way he left me not really any the wiser. Years ago I used to be troubled with recurrent yeast infections, they were just constant, but since then I had managed to avoid antibiotics and it's only since been on the prednisone that I have had trouble.
Should I take valtrex? I have been reading a lot of information and I've been trying to keep myself calm but it was so close to an outbreak it really scares me that I could have given him something and I havent said anything to him because I dont want to scare him.
I have seen a couple doctors and they have prescribed me with zovirax cream, valtrex pills for a week, lots of different things, but not one thing has made a slight difference. They are now saying they cant help me unless i get a full out outbreak. Any ideas here? Thanks in advance for any advice.
She can soak in the tubby with epsom salts for comfort and use the topical anesthetic for pain control as needed. The valtrex will take a few days until she starts seeing a difference since this is a newly acquired infection for her. is her pain with urination from the urine running over open sores or is it pain while urinating like a uti? If it's pain from urine running over sores, she can put her hand in a baggie and physically cover the lesions while urinating.
Well for some reason my Doc prescribed me Zovirax 800mg 3x/day for 7 days. He initially prescribed Valtrex but I do not have insurance so that was going to cost me $200 compared to the $25 for the Zovirax. With HSV1 genitally how many outbreaks would you estimate I could have a year? This initial outbreak is pretty serious. I've experienced the itching, burning, small bumps that turned into small blisters, leg pain, swollen lymph nodes in the groin, slight lower back pain, slight body aches.
I don't even have any of the other symptoms. The doctor did a scrape culture and sent me to get tested for HSV 1 and 2. Today I went again and my results said HSV 2 >5. Is there any way that this was a false positive? I have been married for 3 yrs without any sign of this disease and neither has my husband. The last time I had unprotected sex with a man was more than 6 yrs ago other than my husband. Is it possible that it was dormant all this time?
The culture test they sent off can tell the difference between hsv and zoster. It detected hsv1. Not quite sure why your provider keeps insisting it's wrong and is zoster.
I still use Lysine and H-Balm if I get an outbreak (but they are very rare and few and far between and weak that it doesn't take much). I hope this helps...
He said it would be too early to be detected on a blood test, and to have one done in about a month. I received two scripts - Valtrex and Zovirax. While I was getting them filled at the pharmacy and trying to keep it together AND break the news to my fiance, I felt the diagnosis was wrong in my gut. Perhaps denial. I asked my fiance if he was aware of any possibility of being exposed or having Herpes, and he said it was not possible.
Almost 4 years later I still take it and after running out and it being on back order, I could tell a difference in the level of pain...and it went down when I got back on it.
honestly, your friends are morons to actually dedicate a conversation to speculate "what is the worst thing to get". I bet my paycheck they don't even know the difference between hsv1 and hsv2 or anything regarding genital herpes at all.
using the carmex balm instead of tube). I have an office job and between typing out e-mails, I gnaw on my nails. Gross, but probably what's causing it for me. I cut my upper lit a tiny bit with my pinky nail yesterday, and woke up with this today. It's already spread from my top lip to a tiny bit on my bottom lip, and I'm keeping my hands away from my mouth now. I've also recently had a cold and was blowing my nose a TON, so it might even be related to the kleenex?
when I have taken the amoxicillin in the past, so You would think if they were bacterial, that 2000mg of antibiotic would definitely get rid of whatever was causing it. There is no correlation between the cuts healing and the antibiotic. AND I was never one to get yeast infections (even from that much antibiotic at once), so at least for me, that's not it either. Hope we find an answer soon. Until then, good luck ladies.
and never on the back of the hand, only just to the joint where the finger meets the hand (MCP joint). They measure between ~2mm and ~8mm in size (usually 3-4mm), are red and slightly raised, and aren't filled with fluid. Clumping around the joints is more likely than on the shaft of the phalanges. They're painful (well... uncomfortable) to touch or rub, and usually disappear within a couple of weeks. I've had perhaps up to 20 episodes of this happening in the last 7-8 years.
I've been suffering from an inflammed and irritated meatus for just over seven weeks now and I'm really confused as to what's causing it or how to fix it. I'm in a foreign country at the moment so access to healthcare and consequently explaining my problem in a foreign language hasn't been the easiest. For that reason, I'm writing here to see if anyone could lend some advice. I suppose all of this started in late December when I received a sort of rough unprotected handjob from a sex worker.
an itch between my labia minora and majora. I am on birth control but have been on it for years and this is the first time I have had this problem. I also get same "chapped lips" or rather, cuts. Anti-itch cream is a life saver! But I do not want to depend on it. I do not want to suffer through the Dr if she is going to be as unhelpful as everyone has said. I have changed soaps as well but that does not seem to be related.
Remember "mdmystery" from the last PATM message board, who was cured after only drinking a small glass of red wine each night and doing a lemon/lime enema every 3 days? I was looking for a connection between the red wine and our problems. This is what I found: "Resveratrol and red wine extracts inhibit the growth of CagA+ strains of Helicobacter pylori in vitro." http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1489755 http://lib.bioinfo.pl/pmid:17230601 Hmmm...
