Difference between percocet and oxycodone

Common Questions and Answers about Difference between percocet and oxycodone

percocet

Just curious, does anyone know the difference? Is a 10 mg hydrocodone the same as a 10 mg percocet (oxycodone)? Reason I'm asking is I can break my hydrocodone pills in fourths a lot easier than my percocets.
and am just now coming off the pain pills and am going nuts. I'm sure its the percocet but am alittle confused about the difference between Percocet and the oxycontin as they both have said....OXYCODONE... on the label is the oxy just a time release percocet?
Actually the molecule difference between oxycontin and heroin is 3, not so similar with percacet .......... and how you use i.e orally snorting smoking oxycontin has a huge impact on your addiction and the tolerance and the effects on your body. There is a difference between these drugs.
also, what is the difference between hydrocodone and codein? I really have NOCLUE!
what is the difference between ic dydrocodone tablmck and ic hydrocodon acetaminophen
What is the exact difference between hydrocodone/Vicodin/ loratab and oxycodone/ Percocet? I know Percocet is supposed to be lil stronger but what is the real difference? Does one work better on other pains? What's the difference btw hydro and oxy? Thanks!!
I was on Oxycodone 10-325 and didn't have any problems. And have been on pain management and on Oxycodone since 2011 and never had any problems on them. They have to be made with different components?
I have used (and abused) both Oxycodone and Hydrocodone. I prefer Oxycodone, but it is much harder to get. I however have used them interchangelably for years with just about the same effect. I would have a problem if I interchanged oxy and hydro for codeine or demerol.
Generics compared with brand names are equal, and generics compared with other generics are equal- period. Percocet 10mg is Percocet 10mg, no matter who makes it or what it looks like, the amounts are the exact same in any pill- by law." I'll bet that this will be the response- in fact, I'll post on here and tell you what he/she said.
I have been taking percocet (oxycodone acetaminophen) 5/325 1 pill 3 times a day. That was a great system that worked for me. Recently I was prescribed oxycodone minus the acetaminophen. I understand the risks of liver damage. However, I have had NO relief since I began this new drug. I'm confused because it is the same drug minus the Tylenol. Anyone else experiencing this? Would taking a higher dose of the oxycodone (not Percocet which is oxy with acetaminophen) help me better?
whats the difference between Lorcet plus and Percocet. the one pharmacist said lorcet plus was stronger only cause in had more pain medication and less tylenol than percocet. can someone tell me if this is true cause I've heard different things....i have back problems also, and my pain is real bad sometimes. i am just curious, which is better for the pain....thank you....
So now I am cold turkey for 7 more days and feeling pretty bad. Does anyone know the difference between vicodin and percocet?
Sweetie, Absolutely there is a difference between physical dependence and substance abuse. I take it from your post that you recently moved to AZ. and your new doc doesn't want to treat you with narcotics like your prior doctor. That's his perogative I guess (probably got his MD in a third world country b/c no informed doc would just drop you cold turkey from vicodin with your physical ailments.....
there is a pretty big difference between the two. Percocet (oxycodone) is a schedule II narcotic, that requires a written rx w/ no refills by law and is closely monitored (i believe it is the same thing as oxycotin less the tylenol) vicodin (hydrocodone) is a schedule III narcotic and can be called or faxed in by a doctor and can have refills on it. Darvocet is a lower narcotic than both of these, though i'm not sure what schedule it is. they dont work well for me personally for pain.
I had 10/325 oxy that did nothing but give me a headache. I told my Dr and he gave me a script for name brand percocet. What a huge difference. I just had to call my CVS and tell them that I would have a new script and they would order them in. No pharmacy seems to carry name brand anymore. But all generic drugs are not created equal. And that's a fact !!!
What is the difference between Oxycontin and percocet? I mean, I know Oxycontin is slow release, but percocet is Oxycodone and how is that different from the Oxycontin? I thought they were the same only, one was slow release and one was not, but there must be another difference... Right?
Percocet is Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. Percocet is a brand name and there is no liquid Percocet. There is a liquid version of Oxycodone and Acetaminophen called Roxicet, however. It's not necessarily measured in mg's though. It's measured in ml's in which 5ml contaings 5mg of Oxycodone and 325mg of Acetaminophen. Now that I've written all of that...I have to ask..why do you ask?
It should last up to 12 hrs. opposed to 4-6 hrs. with the Oxycodone. I don'rt feel that there is any difference between the two as far as pain management goes. Why do you ask?
The only difference between percocet and oxycontin is that oxycontin is oxycodone ER (which means extended release) schedule II's are the most addictive, second to Schedule I's which are analagesics (pain relievers) with no theraputic benifit. such as heroin. Norco- is basically lortab with less tylenol. Norco is hydrocodone with 325mg of tylenol and Lortab is hydrocodone with 500mg of tylenol.
Can someone please tell me the difference between oxycodone, ie percocet and hydrocodone, ie loratab? Is one "better" for you....or "safer" to use? What about addictive....is one less addictive than the other? Thanks a ton for all the support....I have decided to taper and at 20 mg a week should be done in 3 weeks.....wish me luck!!
ROXICODONE, generic name: oxycodone hydrochloride, available 5mg, 15mg and 30mg. OXYCODONE, generic name: oxycodone hydrochloride, available 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, and 30mg. The Only Difference Between These Two Medications that I see is the: inactive ingredients. Small Example: (Oxycodone) contains: magnesium stearate, microcrystaline cellulose, silicon dioxide and stearic acid, and numerous D&C, FD&C colors.
Roxicodone and Percocet have the same narcotic - oxycodone. The difference between the Roxi and Perc is the Tylenol, which is found in the Percocet. Will the Perc work better? That depends on the person, honestly. They say coupling Tylenol with Oxy (or Hydrocodone) increases the effectiveness of the narcotic. Pharmacologically, I'm sure there is a valid reason to couple the two, but the reality is that i probably depends on the person using them. So your Perc 7.5/325 is 7.
For pain relied I think Oxycodon in Percocet is 1.5 time as effertive as Hydrocodon. so 1 and a half Norco 10/325's = 1 10/325 Percocet for pain relief. I think Codein is 30mg = 10mg of percocet for pain relief. Don't quote me as I am going from memory but you get the idea and the ball park ratio.
Does hardly anything to quell the enormous back pain I have. Can crushing it and drinking it with apple juice make a difference? Will it work faster?
