Avatar f tn t go away for improve for that matter so I went back and was prescribed with Famotidine which proved to reduce the frequency of my reflux. When I was on Omeprazole, I was experiencing reflux a few times a day. But Famotidine and a very, small lunch helped reduce that to mild reflux once after dinner daily. I continued taking Famotidine for 2mths until my scheduled Gastroscopy which was performed 2 days ago. I've just started on Pariet (Rabeprazol Sodium 20mg), once daily.
709686 tn?1277432159 Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way. You could try a small amount and see. There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer). Those probably don't work as well.
Avatar f tn Hi All and Happy Holidays. I hope all are enjoying family or a little peace and quiet and a nice nap! My question is about acid controlling drugs (Prilosec), etc., and digestive enzymes while taking Harvoni. My doctor told me that I couldn't take any drugs to control acid. Really, it's the only thing I can find which is contraindicated. I have an ulcer and it can be a bit painful at times. Well, really painful at times. I'm wondering if any of you have faced a similar situation.
Avatar f tn I know I was told about Vagus Nerve 10 years ago for other referred ear pains and that was in the summary I took to the ENT. What kind of doctor would I need to see? What kind of testing?
Avatar f tn I have the same problem which I, too, thought might be caused by Omeprazole. I did find, like CalGal, a link between Omeprazole and a cough, and it was also causing itchy skin down my spine area. Changing my PPI to Lansoprazole recently has not made the slightest difference, and I continue to cough all day and all night, a dry, irritating cough. I also have gastritis, oesophagitis, a Hiatus hernia, none of which had been symptomatic other than nausea, and a lack of desire to eat.
Avatar m tn My problems have going on for about five years they started with trapped gas in my stomach and it would not come out for I would say two days and then after that I’ve been having chronic diarrhea , constipation, burning in my stomach, stomach aches and severe fatigue. I also pass gas and burp all day long. I’m bloated all the time. Especially after I eat. I Didn’t realize it was a real problem until around two years ago.
Avatar m tn I am going to have to wait another 2 weeks for results and am back taking the omeprazole but my stomach is constanlty bloating up after eating. Is this a side effect of the tablets?? i have been taking these tablets 6 weeks in total but i am stil suffering severly with bloating and my stomach is constanlty rumbling. Does this sound like h pylori or does anyone else suffer sever bloating from these omeprazole tablets.
Avatar n tn Nothing works, have tried omeprazole, famotidine, reglan, antacids, ranitidine, and others. My lower throat feels like it cramps and I can't breathe, then the blood and oxygen rushing to deal with that makes my heart start pounding. I am wondering: is there anything I can suggest to my doctors to look at next, or another drug I can try since the only thing that gives me relief is sublingual nitroglycerin and I go through 100 of those a month ? Thanks for ANY suggestions, I am desperate.
Avatar f tn Smoothies by tums are the only thing I tolerate. And lemonade. It's so strange. Lol but it works for me.

Avatar m tn And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.
Avatar m tn I'm a 32 year old male, 6'5", 225 lbs and in decent shape. For the past month and a half I've had this pressure in my head and behind my eyes, made worse by drinking caffeine, and it's become very painful/irritating to stare at a computer or phone screen for too long. It's like this expanding pressure in the center of my head and behind my eyes. I'm not dizzy, and it's not exactly "pain", but aspirin/motrin/tylenol don't seem to help it.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I take omeprazole and it works wonderful!! and its generic so not that expensive at all. I used to take protonix and it worked just as well as the omeprazole.. good luck!
Avatar m tn Was given endoscopy and prescribed omeprazole (40mg) until next endoscopy in one year. Was told the pain should go away in about a month. It's been about 2 months and the pain is still just as bad. Could I not have a hernia or ulcer and could this have been overlooked somehow in the endoscopy?
Avatar f tn I take 150mg zantac and its the only thing that works for me. I have heartburn and gerd. Had it before I got pregnant. Got worse when I got pregnant. So I have to take 2 a day. One in the morning and one at night. Try not to eat and then lay down. Wait about two hours after eating to lay down. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn You will need to take a combination of medications like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into and a combination antibiotic tried. Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals.
Avatar f tn Famotidine is Pepcid which works in the same way that Zantac works...I didn't have much luck on Zantac so now I'm on Prilosec and it works wonderfully...but famotidine is considered safer for pregnancy then prilosec...

Avatar m tn Famotidine blocks the action of histamine on stomach cells, and reduces stomach acid production. Famotidine is useful in promoting the healing of stomach and duodenal ulcers and in reducing ulcer pain. Famotidine has been effective in preventing recurrence of ulcers when given in low doses for prolonged periods of time.
1534233 tn?1523388856 Last week the pain comes in my right shoulder also and across my back between the shoulder blades. I suffer from ventricular bigeminy and when this happens my shoulder seems to hurt too. My doctor insists my heart is fine, I've had a lot of tests and all are normal apart from event monitor which showed up the ahrythmia. As soon as I got up today the burning between my shoulders was there across my back. I went to a walk in centre and was examined.
Avatar m tn Overall, people taking acid-suppressing drugs were between 22 percent and 27 percent more likely to get pneumonia than people not taking these treatments. The researchers estimated that for every 200 people taking one of these drugs, one extra person would develop pneumonia. They also found that the risk of pneumonia seemed to rise with higher doses. And the risk was highest when people first started taking these drugs.
Avatar m tn Compared to the rest of the patients, those who received famotidine (the active ingredient in Pepcid) had a greater than 2-fold decreased risk of either dying or being intubated," according to a statement by authors of the study at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. You can read about the trial here. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/09/health/famotidine-covid-19-correlation-study/index.
Avatar f tn Importantly, differences between subtype 1a and 1b (by far the most frequently encountered genotype 1 subtypes in clinical practice) include different efficacies of antiviral drugs and different resistance profiles to such drugs. Indeed, several HCV inhibitors appear to have selective activity against different HCV genotype 1 subtypes, both in vitro and in vivo....
