Avatar f tn What is the exact difference between hydrocodone/Vicodin/ loratab and oxycodone/ Percocet? I know Percocet is supposed to be lil stronger but what is the real difference? Does one work better on other pains? What's the difference btw hydro and oxy? Thanks!!
Avatar f tn t have any problems. And have been on pain management and on Oxycodone since 2011 and never had any problems on them. They have to be made with different components?
Avatar m tn I have a question about the difference between oxy and vicodin are these two drugs seperate addictions for instance I am on day 7 (yippee) without and oxy's I have been taking some small doses of vicodin for the last 7 days to keep myself from going completely off the deep end although there have been many many times where I thought I was going to absolutly lose it, I have been through this once before my main issue with detox is anxiety is by far is my worst symptom I can deal with the lack
1686743 tn?1306005451 For the last year I have been taking15 mg Morphine2 times a day, and 5mg Oxycodone HCI For pain in back and hips, and knee. At this dosage I have been getting some relief.Could one say that I'm chemically dependent. I'm 6 ft tall and 172 lbs. What is the suggested dosage for 61 yr old? I just had surgery in my chest and the pain level is 10 by times 10. they increased the oxy to 10 mg every 4 hrs and the Morphine 3 times a day 30 mg a day. with little effect.
699217 tn?1323438700 I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab. Although they are all narcotics, vicodin and lortab are lesser strength than the oxy's and morphine.
Avatar f tn Hi Mimisipoo, Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post....but sorry to hear that you have had long term pain. My guess is Oxycodone would be an easier withdrawal, though none are "easy." I'm basing my opinion on reports of our members and the half life difference between the two drugs. Some years ago I withdrew from a small doses of oxycodone with no major symptoms.
Avatar f tn If the oxy stopped working as well, i switched to morphine at the same strength and vice versa. I have been only on MSContin and Dilaudid for 5 years now. I lowered my pain medications drastically over a matter of about 10 years.
Avatar f tn And morphine is actually less powerful than oxycodone. Oxycodone is 1.5-2 times stronger than morphine. The shape of a pill and whether the pill is a tablet or capsule does not tell you if it is extended release or immediate release. Avinza is extended release morphine than comes in capsules versus tablets. It sounds like you are having intolerable side effects from oxycodone. That means no oxycodone, whether it is a tablet, a capsule, immediate release or extended release Oxycontin.
Avatar m tn i had knee surgery at end of Dec. and am just now coming off the pain pills and am going nuts. I'm sure its the percocet but am alittle confused about the difference between Percocet and the oxycontin as they both have said....OXYCODONE... on the label is the oxy just a time release percocet?
Avatar f tn Took an awful long time to figure that I was SENSITIVE to morphine/codeine. After operations I went nuts with nausea and ITCHING...that dang oxygen thing up my nose!! I told them FINALLY about this that I finally had to figure out on my own and got on different anesthesia. WOW. What a difference!! Allergies imply something altogether different and one CAN develop an allergy to drugs such as morphine and THAT YOU don't want happening.
Avatar f tn I did some research and some of the top side-effects with the Morphine are Headaches and Drowsiness and dizziness and being light-headed. There are many more than that but those are the ones that were at the top. I don't know if that helped you or not BUT I hope that it did. I really think you might want to consider talking to your NP about switching your BT meds.
1325672 tn?1290084214 Most PM use morphine based drugs for chronic pain in my area (NC) and use the oxycodone for breakthrough... every doctor and patient are different. Good luck.
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
Avatar f tn Have you ever tried Oxycodone HCL (immediate release) 15mg, or 30mg tablets for breakthrough pain? I am on Morphine Sulfate and use the Oxycodone for breakthrough and it works well... until your body adapts to the oxycodone and you require an increase in the dose... that's my only hurdle with it.... good luck....
Avatar m tn The only difference between oxycodone and oxycontin is one is a time release and the other is not. Oxycontin is sopose to last 12 hours. Oxycodone is soposed to be taken every 4-6 hours. There are many myths between these 2 drugs. Just google "Difference beteeen Oxycodone and Oxycontin " and a heap of stuff comes up.
Avatar n tn First Tramadol and then vicodin, and now morphine and percocet. I continue to do a great job and produce fantastic products. My managers know about my chronic pain and are very accepting of the pain medications I take as they don't affect my job performance and they know that I am responsible with my meds. I am on 60 mg of morphine and 20-30 mg of oxycodone within percocet. I honestly think that you shouldn't bring up your pain meds at an interview unless asked.
541953 tn?1262586226 And my doctor changed my meds from the morphine to Opana Er 20 mgs twice a day. what is the difference? does anyone know? I tried to google and got nothing. I was just wondering if this is just a different brand name for morphine but stronger? thanks in advance for your help.
413886 tn?1203607351 I know there is never a perfect time but I have soooo much going on between work and music and my 4 year old son.....I know just excuses! This just snuck up on me again! I swore that I'd never do this again but look what happened! They don't really do anything for pain anymore, I take them so I won't be sick! I just want to be normal again!!!!! This is a great place! Thanks all!
Avatar n tn Morphine 15mg, Oxycodone 10/325mg, Xanax .25 mg, and Zoloft 100mg. I have been taking the Morphine and Oxy 3xs/day, 8am, 2pm and 8pm. I take my Zoloft at 8am and my Xanax at 8pm. I also take a stool softener for constipation and have to take Tylenol now and then when I get the Morphine headache. Now that I have read several questions and answers, I will no longer take the Morphine and Oxy together, I didn't realize that they are the same thing basically.
Avatar m tn I didnt think anything of my urine test i took yesterday because (H) would show up as an opiate and i am prescribed opiates, BUT i found out that the doctor is sending the test to get the levels of opiate and oxycodone etc. i kno for sure that its going to show up higher than it should. Is there anyting that i can say i took that raised my levels so high like morphine or i ate three times my dose of dialated?
Avatar n tn However, with each passing symptom I have become more in pain and prescribed more and more meds till I am now having to take morphine 480mg a day, oxycodone, muscles relaxers and some other meds to help me cope with my pain.
558096 tn?1255887002 Actually the molecule difference between oxycontin and heroin is 3, not so similar with percacet .......... and how you use i.e orally snorting smoking oxycontin has a huge impact on your addiction and the tolerance and the effects on your body. There is a difference between these drugs.
Avatar m tn ve seen three with that title and the difference between each one is unbelievable - not just in personality but in attitude and knowledge. I don't believe in recommending a specific medication as we are all very different - and our pain is different. A good PMP should be able to make adjustments in your medications. Do you have nerve pain? I wasn't aware of how much nerve pain was a component of my pain until a PMP prescribed a medication to treat nerve pain.
Avatar m tn It's sad that doctor's seem to be behind the studies and truth on pain meds prescribed to those actually in pain. Thing is, those who take long acting meds for actual pain almost never ever abuse, nor get addicted. You may get dependent, but not like someone snorting and taking them for fun and the high. A lot of doctors balk at Oxycontin simply because people abuse them. There's a difference between people in pain not getting high, and people taking them illegally to get high.
Avatar m tn Well, as one could imagine over the years my doses have turned from viodic, to oxycodone to fentanyl patches and oxycodone. Now I have beeen taking 15 patches of 100 mcg of the patch and 300 5mg tabs of oxycodone because of supposed arthritis in my back.. Now I am wanting off of these meds for good, My back pain still feels very real as I am now day 6 into my last patch and ocycodone pill. I went to the ER two nights ago because I feet so bad coming off of those drugs. What can I do.
