Difference between lumigan and latisse

Common Questions and Answers about Difference between lumigan and latisse

lumigan

Avatar m tn There is two different brands that say they have the same effect as Latisse but they cost much less than Latisse. They are Lumigan, and Bimatoprost. My question is do they actually have the same effect like Latisse? what is the diffrence??
Avatar m tn regarding Lumigan and others like it, have people experienced growth of eyebrows and hair elsewhere as well like scalp hair? or is there good understanding of the active ingredients, that they can also help brows and scalp hair too? I am not only thinning fair eyelashes, but also fair hair and eyebrows and in my 40s with only slight graying. so has lumigan been studied long enough to know if fair skinned/hair people get similar darkening and lenghtening benefits?
757137 tn?1347196453 t harm the eye or vision but side effects include redness and irritation on the eye and dark pigmentation around the edge of the lids. Plus the stuff is extremely expensive expect to pay about $120 per bottle. If you stop the meds they stop growning It works on most people, we've used it for years as lumigan for glaucoma. as with any medicine it doesn't work on everyone.
Avatar f tn org The glaucoma drops Xalatan, Lumigan and Travitan Z grown eyelashes in about 70% of the people that use them. The FDA has just approved a formulation of lumigan called Latisse for use to grow eyelashes.
Avatar n tn One of the drops in this family of glaucoma medicines (Lumigan) is sold in a different form (Latisse) by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for eye lash growth.
Avatar m tn I have had that too and noticed it the past couple of years...I'm 56 and not using Latisse or anything else. It does irritate my eye sometimes, and I have pulled them in the past. Don't know if it's normal, but I never was concerned either. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
Avatar n tn t find thick eye mucus anywhere listed as a symptom for Ocular Rosacea. I have recently started using Latisse and it seems to be helping with the swelling of the upper eyelid, but not with the itching and mucus. Could this be Ocular Rosacea? Is Latisse used for treatment of Ocular Rosacea?
Avatar n tn Hi Emsed. I posted a similar thread in the Derm Community under "Eyelashes-fell-out-and-not-growing-back-w-Latisse". I had a clump of mine just fall out for no apparant reason (the curling iron might've been the culprit, but I'd been curling my lashes for almost 12 years so it's doubtful). I'd also been using Latisse for years (under Revitalash when it wasn'y yet FDA approved and the product was available), so my lashes were always super long and lush.
Avatar f tn ve been using Latisse now for about 3 months and have really nice, long, lush lashes, aside from the patch that fell out. I have no idea how it happened, except maybe I was rubbing too hard to remove my makeup. I've continued using Latisse every night since and have seen no growth whatsoever in the lash "blad spot". I don't even see the follicles where the hair should be coming from. I've had to wear eyeliner constantly because it's extremely noticeable.
1775444 tn?1319258310 My eyelashes are short and sparse(want them to be really long, curly and strong). To make matters worse, they fall out, which drives me insane!!! I've big eyes but I 'd kill for beautiful, long, curly and attractive lashes that 'll make the guys crazy for me! I am 16. Do you think I can make my lashes grow long and beautiful?(I 'd hate "no" for an answer but please be honest!) If yes, how? HELP!!!
Avatar f tn I have optimalized my condition but so far I still have little eyebrows left.
Avatar n tn Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
Avatar f tn she told me I should be a -4.25 r and l, and that everything else about my eyes looked totally healthy and normal. she said that with the lower prescription, i should find that my eyes feel better. well, it's been almost a week since i was given the lower prescription, and i'm having the same problems- trouble focusing (like my eyes are constantly tired), and i have a low grade headache and nausea. I'm not sure what I should do next?
Avatar f tn hi am a trich sufferer. can i use normal lumigan eyedrops on my eyebrows, scalp and eyelashes? i dont have access to latisse.or is there any other medication that grows hair fast? can i use folligen? what are the adverse effects of using lumigan on eyes and eyebrows?
Avatar f tn I have been suffering dizziness for 2 months now. My doctor has done all kind of test and a CT and found nothing. I'm slightly love in iron but not iron difficient. I'm slightly low in B1. I'm currently taking supplement for iron and B1 for a week. The dizziness and nausea is constantly there, low grade but I had 3 attacks at 3 different times and it seemed to relate to my eyes somehow. I noticed my eyes are extremely dry lately, for the last few months.
Avatar n tn First the use of Lumigan. I really dislike Lumigan and try and never use it in my practice. It is notorious for causing red, irritated, inflammed eyes, permanent dark circles around the eyes and atrophy of the fat in the sockets causing sunk in looking eyes and droopy eye lids.
Avatar m tn Also beta blocker eye drops are not as strong, or as long lasting as lumigan and beta blockers do not work at night whereas lumigan does. If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar n tn OK, help. I'm 45, doc verified post-menopausal (yes, very very early) and the last couple of years I have significant darkening of my sclera (whites of my eyes). I have had hypothyroidism since I was about 20 and I take levothyroxine. I had my doc run a full blood / urine panel to ensure it wasn't thyroid/kidney/liver related (nope). I went to my Opthomologist and he said he agreed they were dark but could see nothing medically wrong with my eyes.
Avatar m tn Heart arrhythmia including PVCs is not likely due to Lumigan or the two other medications in that family (Travatan-Z and latanoprost). They are not listed in the drug prescribing literature. I have several thousand patients on these medication and only have one patient in many years that complained of heart beat problems HOWEVER when we changed to a different type of medication (different class of glaucoma medications at present there are 4 classes) the problem stopped.
Avatar n tn However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr. Stated Alphagan P was the best he could do with MEDS, and it did not do a thing so wants to do SLT which he says may not work or can make pressure worse. So if SLT does not work are my only options more riskier surgeries! Visual field gave been perfect for last 8 years, do not know if this hemorrhage has caused defects as yet!
Avatar f tn Hair loss is not a problem with glaucoma drops and in fact one group of drops (prostaglandin antilogs-Xalatan, Lumigan, Travitan-Z) actually grown hair. About 70% of people on these medications exhibit thicker longer lashes. The makers of Lumigan recently started to market the very same drops under the name Latisse for eyelash growth. I understand that they also looked into using it as a treatment for baldness but its too expensive to cover a large area like the scalp.
12845664 tn?1427483649 I am using Lumigan (bimatoprost) 0.01% nightly. Cost under my Medicare coverage is pretty high (deductible plus copay). Bimatoprost 0.03% is now available as a generic. What potential problems am I inviting by asking my ophthalmologist to switch prescriptions and start using the 0.03%?
Avatar f tn Importantly, differences between subtype 1a and 1b (by far the most frequently encountered genotype 1 subtypes in clinical practice) include different efficacies of antiviral drugs and different resistance profiles to such drugs. Indeed, several HCV inhibitors appear to have selective activity against different HCV genotype 1 subtypes, both in vitro and in vivo....
Avatar m tn what is the difference between addiction and dependence? I was reading another post and someone mentioned that he/she thought someone was dependent not addicted.. I'm just curious. Thanks in advance for any responses.
