Avatar m tn A ran to my gynecologist and asked for an STD test, however due to lack of discharge he only checked me for chlamydia and he did a general swab. I was given azithromycin for 6 days, ciprofloxacin for 5 days and flagyl ovules. I felt fine after the treatment and my doctor told me i did not have chlamydia. My life went on, i only was experiencing a mild yellowish discharge but i didn't really bother about that (too bad, my mistake).

Avatar n tn Most uncomplicated UTIs can be treated with oral antibiotics such as trimethoprim, cephalosporins, nitrofurantoin, or a fluoroquinolone (e.g., ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin). Trimethoprim is probably the most widely used antibiotic for UTIs and is usually taken for 7 days. It is often recommended that trimethoprim be taken at night to ensure maximal urinary concentrations and increase its effectiveness.
Avatar m tn Penicillin, ampicillin, cefotaxime are a similar drug class Cephaloporins and penicillin type drugs, and levofloxacin and cipro are also in their own drug class (quinolones) while vancomycin is a diffierent drug class. Let me know what I can help you with. Or if I answered your question.
Avatar m tn The reactivity of 13 quinolones (levofloxacin, ofloxacin, pefloxacin, enoxacin, moxifloxacin, gatifloxacin, trovafloxacin, sparfloxacin, lomefloxacin, ciprofloxacin, clinafloxacin, norfloxacin, and nalidixic acid) was tested in 5 commercial opiate screening assays from September 1998 to March 1999. In 6 healthy volunteers, we confirmed the cross-reactivity of levofloxacin or ofloxacin with these opiate screening assays.
Avatar m tn Few weeks later i got a uninary tract infection . for 3 weeks I have and still been under antibiotics (levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, doxycycline and cefuroxime ) i went for an Hiv test 6 weeks after exposure and was negative. I once had extreme fatigue for a whole day during this medication.. My question is could these antibiotics delay immune response to Hiv and thus delay antibody production???
Avatar m tn She was also menstruating at the time. I was treated and the symptoms have since gone away. I contacted female A and urged her to get tested as well. She claims to have had no other sexual intercourse, at least in the past several years. Still, she went to be tested. She had a vaginal swab taken for analysis, as well as a visual check on the internal portion of her vagina. About 6 days later, the lab results were in, and the doctor informed her that she did not have Chlamydia.

197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Then on the 2nd of January 2012, i went to the GP, and the doc gave me ciprofloxacin, says it might be bacteria.. then Asked me to do a stool sample, and i did, it was clear(no bacteria in stool) But My diarrhea stopped around 2 weeks... I went back to see the doctor, he said Your gut takes time to settle (might take weeks or months) He gave me buscopan... i took for 3 days but to no effect, then i reached out to my gastro specialist back home, he told me why buscopan?
Avatar m tn When that happened I ifgured it must be an STD and went and got tested and everything was negative Ive taken Azithromycin, metroNIDAZOLE, Doxycyline hyclate, ciprofloxacin hcl, and levofloxacin, these all supressed the systoms but it always comes back has been like this for about a year now.
Avatar n tn Be sure to be off of antibiotics for 3 weeks, and test your first void urine only. Also, if you have taken ciprofloxacin of levofloxacin, you can still take Moxifloxacin and have a decent shot of curing the infection, if it’s indeed MG.
Avatar m tn We have searched for lots of information and found that between 3 weeks and 8 weeks, the fetus is indeed very fragile to certain drugs. We have found one article that suggests that the US FDA apparently classifies Sparfloxacin as category X during the 1st trimester and then as category C during the 2nd and 3rd trimester. All other information that we have found just suggests that the effects are unknown. Is this information correct? What should we be considering?
Avatar n tn Does anyone know the differences and effectiveness between US and UK treatments? Most importantly however, is there a guide on the pain-easing timescales (peeing broken glass versus the urge to pee isnt a dilema im enjoying right now).

Avatar m tn Thank you HowardH, for your response. I don't seem to have any ars symptoms, but I could have had a mild fever for 1-5 days before taking levofloxacin. I'm not sure because I never used a thermometer, and now I wish I did. But if I did, I was functioning relatively well for a fever. This answers my question, but in case anyone else wants more information, I'd like to respond to nursegirl's comments too.
Avatar m tn Then I went to the urologyst again , who took my Stamey Test - samples of urine and prostate liquid , and sperm analysys. Surprise! Avatar n tn I have a question though, i was going through my old prescriptions and i remember taking levofloxacin for 7 days for strep throat during my window period for testing.... on the description it says that : Levofloxacin is a synthetic" chemotherapeutic" antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class... Don't chemotherapeutic affect the outcome of an hiv test.... Just a question i have...
Avatar m tn Thanks for the input, Grace. Epididymitis is often caused by strains of chlamydia and gonorrhea, or by coliform bacteria in homosexual men. I posted here because I was curious if anyone knew about fluoroquinolone resistance in C. Trachomatis (levofloxacin vs. ciprofloxacin, bacteriostatic or bactericidal effects), or anything along those lines.
