difference between invega and risperdal

How does one switch from Risperdal Consta (50mg Q2wks) to Invega Sustenna??

The longer you take it the less you will care if you ever have sex again. I am obsessive about sex and my dr had to take me off of it so I went to Risperdal. It was a nice alternative after the transfer period. It kept the voices from getting me nuts. I'm on Invega now because the Risperdal ruined my blood pressure and sugar levels. Being diabetic sux rox but I'll live with it if I don't have to hear them telling me I'm scum all the time.

That is a big problem for me considering I have an obsession with sex. It made me borderline diabetic and between it and the Risperdal that my new shrink put me on, I am now totally diabetic. I've been on psych meds since I was 23, now 37. I don't advocate this drug to anybody because in my personal opinion, it's a very dangerous drug. All psych meds have risks but this one was the worst I was ever on.

I am eating next to nothing and have lost over 10% of my body weight due to this. Thank you for your input. My level is 165. Also would this elevation be causing nausea?

There is a big difference between temporary movement disorders such as akathesia and dystonia which can be treated with a side effect pill and tardive dyskinesia and its variants. If you are concerned speak to your psychiatrist and have them do a movement disorders test which most psychiatrists do from time to time anyway. They could tell you for sure but there is a big difference between the two and what they look like but a psychiatrist would know for sure.

I did some cross referencing and discovered that it has the same active ingredient as Risperdal. Also, I researched if it is safe during pregnancy and came to find that it increases the risk of having a still born baby. The past year or so though hes been showing signs of ADD or ADHD. His Dr has prescribed him Risperdal because and medication isnt something she just randomly hands out so I know he needs it. I just have a few questions that wont be answered until he sees another Dr which I am waiting for a referral to. My questions are: Whats the difference between ADD/ADHD? How will I be able to tell if the Risperdal is having a positive effect or a negative effect and how soon will I know of either?

i was on invega for 3 years at 8 mg a day and i was wondering if invega can cause you to gain weight and have blood clots in your legs

I take Invega Sustenna. While my oxygen level is normal, I seem to have reduced po2 and oxyhgb, which is indicators of poor oxygen status. A doctor said this might be felt as dizziness. I want to make these tests again, but because of my diagnosis of schizophrenia, they usually attribute my dizziness to anxiety or side effects. Its been on going for 3 months, but recently got better as I took less Invega. Then it got a little worse again, and I cant say if my sleeping problems is the cause.

Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.

m a 37 yo female and have been diagnosed as schizoaffective with bipolar features, and in May was started on Invega 224 mg injectable and 12 mg oral once daily along side Topomax 10mg once daily. But since being prescribed the Invega in May I've gained significant weight (30 lbs) being the heaviest I've ever been in my life. My hair is growing in darker and coarser, and I've been battling extreme depression. Usually an active person I cant seem to motivate myself to do anything.

the other 3 I cant remember but it made me feel so doped up I switched docs and and she put me on 2 celexa and zyprexa and they have worked wonderful for me. No dopey drugged feeling. Just nice stable everyday normal living. Its seems to me that alot of docs tend to overprescribe when all is need for bi polar is a good mood stabilizer and a good anti depressant I could be wrong since I am not a doc . I am just a bi polar (in remission lol)who has been on alot of meds.

We have used Risperdal with our 12 year old son in the past, 2nd and 3rd grade, but due to weight gain he had to be taken off it. We had major problems with sleep so when he went off the meds he went back to not sleeping. Then we found Melatonin, it is a god sent. It is a natural supplement that has helped a lot of children with atuism and other disorders that effect sleeping. As for the agression we have tried behavioral programs that help with it. I was put on Risperdal 1/2 mg in sept 13 08,recently (last week stopped it ) had to me slighty taper,Im wondering if yoou really neeed to taper,Im not bipolar I have depression and anxiety and was put on Risperdal for racing thoughts,Does any one or has anyone ever just stopped Risperdal without tapering,,my pharmisist said its not nesa sarry byt i dont realy know for sure,i think sometimes he just tells me what he thinks i want to hear,,,,THanks

I am not convinced that there is a connection between Risperdal and genital shrinkage. In any case, if there is, then things should return to normal once the drug is discontinued.

OMG! I lost everything I just wrote to you. Oh well, it was kind of long winded anyway. I mainly wanted to tell you that I have to take medication for facial tightness because I take Abilify. It started as a twitch which then turned into major tightness in my entire face with the worst being in my mouth. My lips felt like they were being pulled together by a draw string and made me look like I was pissed off all the time.

I would like to know what would be a good allergy medicine that can be taken with risperdal. I have given my son benadryal in the past and he would become calm but since the risperdal he gets very hyper and stays up all night. My son has seasonal allergies. I was on risperdal as well and still take it for agitation if i find myself getting out of control (with the doctors permission of course) it usually does knock me off my feet. I think of it as re-booting my system. i was on lamectal as well and it didn't seem to make me so tired.. abilify was always my favorite though (as if taking a medicine and calling it a favorite is a good thing haha) but i felt like it gave me an energy boost and made me not so monotone.

I was there everyday(twice a day) for him and I could see the difference in him after they increased the Risperdal. He must have suffered a stroke and the Doctor kept feeding him the Meds for app. 5 or 6 days until I finally told him something is wrong with him. 3 weeks later he was gone. He never recovered and he was a "strong" man. His only illness was dementia and to this day I believe the Risperdal killed him. Any info would be appreciated.
