GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old.

I am 18 years old turing 19. Its been 3 years and my period doesnt come without pills. I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good.
I would suggest that you contact your doctor and your pharmacist in order to find out the difference between the 2 different medications. I would also discuss your concerns about the high blood sugars with your doctor to see what can be done to lower your blood sugars.
Well now they have found out that my thryroid is not working and put me on 100mcg of levothyroxine and 500 mgs of glucophage twice a day. i take 150 mg effexor xr in the morning. now the sweating is embarassing. i live in texas and i refuse to go shoppping or anywhere else unless i have to. my head sweats until my hair is soaking wet. i MUST have all of these medications. my question is : is there anything...herbal or otherwise that i can do or take to help with this.
I have hypothryoid disease ( all new to me ) and my doctor has perscribed glucophage to me to helped with irreglar menstral cycles.
Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).
T NEED MORE INSULIN AND TO PREVENT ME FROM GAINING WEIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT GLUCOPHAGE WORKS ON YOUR LIVER AND PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING GLYCOGEN-WOULDN'T THAT BE DANGEROUS FOR ME IF I NEEDED THE GLYCOGEN DURING A POTENTIALLY BAD EPSIODE OF HYPOGLYCEMIA? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR. TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED IT AND TO DISCONTINUE ANY ACE INHIBITORS.
Since I started seeing my family doctor (an MD) it has been determined that I may have polycystic ovarian syndrome based on my symptoms even though the pelvic ultrasound showed no cystic ovaries and even though my menstrual cycle is regular. They had started treatment with glucophage XR and obviously I could not be treated with BCP because of my history of pulmonary emboli.
She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.
my husband has recently started glucophage he is having abdominal pain and sweats and headaches and nervous spells throughout the day. He is not having huge spike in his blood sugars. Should his body adjust to the medicine?
u might have polycystic ovaries thats y u have a hairy face. consult ur doc and take glucophage .
what happen for me im obese before then I lost weight and become normal bmi 23 I take glucophage and birth control pills vit e and vit c for 6 month then following month I stop glucophage and birth control pills I get normal menstrual cycle for six month only I take vit e and vit c continue exercise normal bmi after 6month I notice that my period are starting to delay in a days or a week now 4month I never used any vitamin or any medicine.

I was diagnosed with PCOS early this year and started taking Glucophage in January of February. Like you, I started on 500mg once daily, and quickly increased it to 500mg twice daily. I had a period within a couple of months, but by July of August I had become more regular than ever. I now have a period every 5 weeks without fail. I hope that answers your question!

My first with my daughter I had nausea/vomiting, sore breasts and fatigue. My second I had BAD fatigue and nausea/vomiting--this is the one I lost. They 'claim' that nausea/vomiting indicates a strong pregnancy and this is untrue.
I've seen many women with every symptom on the planet and lose it, while others with none go full term. Ignore it and enjoy your pregnancy. Many women would love to be symptom free--I know I would have given anything to not vomit everyday for 9 months.
Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Ive been on glucophage and femara and ttc for 12 months with no luck. My period was due 4 days ago but instead I had a reddish/brown light discharge The day my period was due . This lasted a day or so and now have a very light creamish discharge for last 2 days. No sign of my period. I haven't done a test this month as I really don't want to be looking at another negative.
After two weeks the prednisone should have worn off. Don't be too distressed. Ebverything will eventually come back to what it was.
