Common Questions and Answers about Difference between fluconazole and diflucan

diflucan

Avatar f tn was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Avatar m tn They gave her two diflucan pills 150mg each. Do you think i should try taking diflucan just in case we are passing it back and fourth between each other.
Avatar f tn C albicans can be resistant to drugs ending in azole. Diflucan is Fluconazole. They can give you Amphotericin B but it has bad side effects. I would the infectious doctor.
Avatar f tn Yes it's safe after 12 weeks. I am on round 2 of my dose. I am a rare case and I get VERY bad yeast and BV infections which cause bladder retention and usually have to get catherized for a week. I've had a cath 4 times this pregnancy and i'm only 16 weeks! I just took diflucan again yesterday and have another dose I will be taking in 3-5 days if the symptoms are still here. When I'm not pregnant I use oil of oregano orally for yeast.
4928337 tn?1362751166 I have just gotten it for a yeast infection. Creams do not work and its been so persistent he prescribed me this pill. You take it once. I have never had yeast.
20797525 tn?1510602613 I have had candida for a little over a year now. It all started with strep throat that I required penicillin to combat. Penicillin helped but never fully eliminated the problem. I began to notice a lot of itching underneath my left arm. A few times I would put deodorant on and it would sting to high heaven. Then I noticed that classic yeast smell. I tried all types of treatments with no result, relief or answers.
525485 tn?1314361301 I know that you cant take diflucan (fluconazole ~generic for diflucan) but I was wondering if there was anything else. My doctors office is not open yet so I will be calling them when they are available, but was wondering if any of you ladies knew anything about this. Any help would be much appreciated!
Avatar m tn The pill my doctor gives me is Diflucan. She only gives it to me when I have one. I get one whenever I have to take antibiotics.. It does not matter how much freaken yogart I eat. I think the diet goes for when you start getting them and I did not get a yeast infection ever until I had sex as well. So I am thinking that it could help. Although since I only get them when I take antibiotics I never paid attention to looking for the diet again.
Avatar f tn i just finished the treatment 2 days ago....and i still have it!!!!! In the past the only thing that worked for me was Diflucan.....is it safe to use at this point in my pregnancy? Or..what should i use??? I'm desperate!!! Please Help!!!! Thank You!!

Avatar m tn After 6 months unprotected vaginal , i had 2 test , and both are negative , i have painful rash on groin since 3 months that do not go , and doctor gave me Diflucan tablets whivh i found it is for hiv patients ,.
Avatar f tn My doc usually calls me in terconazole goo, he said the diflucan or fluconazole pill isnt allowed during pregnancy which ***** because having a yeast infection isnt bad enough, add dealing with the goo treatment to it.
Avatar m tn I already visit two doctors, Doctor #1 told me that the redness has nothing to do with the herpes that what I have is something call Red Scrotum syndrome, Doctor # 2, Also thinks that has nothing to do with the herpes and gave a powder call NYSTOP 2 weeks later and did nothing, Now he gave a pill call FLUCONAZOLE now he thinks is fungal, But no red scrotum syndrome. The tingling also comes and goes and it could be on my face, legs, arms, back anywhere. I was diag.
Avatar f tn I think she mentioned that she could prescribe a cream. Is there a difference between over the counter creams vs prescription creams prescribed by a doctor?
Avatar f tn ve had 4 different doctors look at my penis and they all say it looks normal and suggested I had a mild yeast infection on the glans of my penis due to the cracking and some patches that appeared. I was prescribed Diflucan (fluconazole) and also applied anti fungal cream for a week. After a week, it didn't really do much. I feel as if the brown color of my penis makes it easy for dermotologists and the doctors to overlook what i KNOW i see.
Avatar f tn No pronounced itching or burning, but some slight redness. After I took the medicine, I became extremely sore, swollen, and itchy and the discharge began seeping out. Today, I am somewhat itchy but now have a thick, creamy pale yellow/white discharge that just seems to seep out and irritates my labia. Is this normal for a 3 day treatment? Should I see a doctor?
Avatar m tn t even seem to have ever heard about Fluconazole), and he seemed to be enjoying entertaining the idea that my irritation and the fact that my partner seemed to have had a similar irritation are coincidental and not relevant at all.
Avatar n tn Cetirizine (Zyrtec) 10mg 1 tab a day for a month for allergic reactions; Fluconazole (Diflucan) 100mg 1 tab immediately for Fungal infection; and Prednisone (Deltasone) 20 mg 1 tab a day for 3 days; which he wants me to use only if the others don't work due to the steroid nature. He also recommended Ammonium Lactate (Amlactin) 12% lotion. I tried it but it seemed to redden the skin and increase swelling so I went to the Vaseline Intensive Care lotion I always use. I will see how it works.
Avatar f tn I’m a 20 year old female, and I have been dealing with tinea versicolor for going on 7 months. I’ve tried the shampoos and my doctor has prescribed me multiple rounds of fluconazole (spaced out between rounds) the rash went away after awhile, but I was not using the shampoo (I was using a natural soap on Amazon for tinea versicolor). Sadly, the rash came back after a month or so. I never stopped using that exact same soap, and I would shower normally 2-3 times a day (because I work out).
Avatar m tn I've had this irritation in the area under my foreskin for over a year now. A fungal cream seems to keep it at bay and I've even taken Diflucan/Fluconazole (200 mg daily) for a week. They seem to help but yet it comes back. It's manageable and I can masturbate (with some temporary redness and slight burning sensation).
Avatar n tn You can get something like a cream (Canesten, Monistat) or you can get fluconazole (Diflucan) which is a tablet. The tablet takes a little longer to work as it needs to get into your bloodstream first. The cream gives you relief faster.
Avatar f tn t need to go to the doctor. You can get a once only tablet (fluconazole - Diflucan) or you can use a cream or pessary such as canesten (clotrimazole). It is very common to get thrush after antibiotics as they kill off all the good bacteria and allow there to be an overgrowth of Candida (the yeast that causes thrush).
