Common Questions and Answers about Difference between fluconazole and diflucan

This is soooooooo aggravating and frustrating and painful and itchy and I really don't know what to do. I am taking fluconazole (150mg) and I have a 1% Hydrocortisone Canestan cream...sound right? Thanks for any info and insight!
moinstat, which I used once or twice a year when I had yeast infections since I was about 20. It stung everything and the diflucan fixed nothing. I went back and asked for an std test, i have been seeing 2 guys for the last 2 months, since my soon to be ex husband is out of the pic. clamidia and gonorhea both negative, but the Dr had given me a Zithromax pack just in case and some more potent yeast infection cream. The cream hurt bad and the Zpack did nothing.
I had a tear almost probably about an 1/2 long right between my vagina and anus. It burns sooo bad to wipe, pee, if I move and stretch the area in that skin. It happens after sex with my boyfriend, probably because sometimes we are rough, and there isn't enough lubrication. I have to wait a few days until it has healed to have sex again. The doctor isn't much help, she was hell-bent on thinking it was herpes.
I was so annoyed when he said there is no proven connection between allergies and dizziness. He's now ordered an MRI and additional balance tests and has started talking about ruling out tumors, etc. Thanks for sharing your stories. It always surprises me how many non-allergist MD's don't understand how allergies can affect the body.
xmlFilePath=journals/ijanp/vol6n1/vaginosis.xml It goes over several similar issues and how to tell the difference between them. Hope you find an answer soon!
I just have a another couple questions. Is there a difference between an over the counter fluconzole such as diflucan and a prescribed fluconzole? Are there any major side effects to an oral anti fungal? and lastly is it abnormal that it takes this long to treat a fungal/yeast infection and having to use different kinds of products?
) I used to feel a rawness under the clitoris hood and between the inner labia a lot, but I haven't felt this as much sense I’ve been going to the acupuncturist. It's very rare that I feel any itchiness. My acupuncturist and the specialist seem to think these symptoms are a result from having bladder infections in the past (I have a sensitive bladder), DOES ANYONE THAT HAS A SENSITIVE BLADDER, or have had many bladder infections in the past, and HAVE SIMILAR symptoms as me?
I am a virgin, so that rules out STDs. No difference in looks, No swelling, No discoloration, No bumps, or any (seeable) physical change. No Pain during urination or ejaculation. No masturbation for months for the third or fourth major time Urinalysis after Urinalysis came back blank. >>>No Infection<<< No change in stress level. No change in work. No change in friends. No change in interest.
he diagnosed balanitis and perscribes ketoconazole and said it would be gone in two to three weeks - early march there was no difference in condition....went back and he perscribed hydrocortisone 2.5%....again said it would be gone in two more weeks - conditions improved extremely slightly, but with any masturbation or sexual intercourse immediately returned - early april went to specialist...urology...again said it was balanitus and perscribed nystatin/triamcinolone combo cream...
I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of. All CT scans, MRI of brain and blood work keep coming back clean and ok. Nothing I try seems to work. There was a period of time about 3 and a half years ago that the symptoms lifted for about 4 months and then it returned full force.
It sounds like s/he is unaware of the newer available tests, which clearly can tell the difference between HSV-1 and HSV-2. If you cannot convince him or her otherwise, find another provider. An ObG with special expertise in infectious diseases would be a good place to start; or an actual infectious diseases specialist. Both kinds of specialists can be found in large metropoltian areas.
I went to a GP, who, upon noticing cottage cheese discharge that I did't know was there, said I had a yeast infection and gave me diflucan. She swabbed the bump and it came back negative for herpes and other stds like chlamidia and bacteria. However, a test for yeast also came back negative. I went to an obgyn who did a wet mount and found multinucleated cells from a swab of my vagina/cervix. This lead him to believe I had herpes.
I came to the doctor after approx 2 months of symptoms and was symptom free for only 2 weeks after taking diflucan and doxycycline. The second infection was a quick recurrence and I think KY might have been the offending agent because the infection was bad a few days after KY. This infection did not get better until I ended up taking 3 antibiotics in a row (doxy, zithro, and flagyl) and diflucan.
In a year I used 6 flucanazole (diflucan) and 3 times Monistat (1 day doze and 3 day doze are not good. 7 day was ok), met 2 doctors, did all kinds of lab tests (a warning against tests- one gyn visit lab tests cost $3000, I was in shock. Fortunately, I have insurance and paid $300. The doctor seems to be not concerned and just prescribe diflucan. I have not other sickness than Candida Albicans. But the problem it comes back nearly ever month before my period. I did so much research on yeast.
We are NOT having sex. Laura, what is the difference between regular yeast and this candida? I just thought they were the same. I will perform that test tonight, thank you. Please pray for my wife.
I have had them before and would just get monostat and it would go away - not this time. I went to the doctors and she took a swab and prescribed diflucan. I had two prescriptions and the cream. Still didn't work. I was also eating plain yogurt and applying it down there which helped at the time but then the itching would come back - and I was so sore and swollen. I called the doctor again and they told me to get boric acid at the pharmacy.
I have been to the doc's dozens of times, it got to the point that the area between my vagina and anus and the crack between my rear end cheeks was so irritated and raw that I had open sores and skin cracks. (this was after being to my doc 3 times that it progressed this far). I saw different doc's in the practice and it wasn't until I called one day crying because it hurt so bad that I saw a PA who made a difference.
A study published in the Journal of Family Practice in February of 2005 showed that there was no difference between the patients who received an antibiotic and the patients who received a placebo. That’s just one study, but it does cast doubt on the effectiveness of short-term antibiotic treatment for mild acute sinusitis. Taking antibiotics also increases the chance that you can develop a drug-resistance strain of bacteria living in your upper respiratory tract.
I went to the doctor 8/15/07 complaining of itching, swelling, burning, redness, and a small red dot between my vagina opening and my anus. They tested me for a yeast infection and it came back positive...ive never had one of these...they gave me 1 pill --fluconazole 150MG and a creme for all of the other things (redness, itching, etc.
It had a refill on it so I called that in and just took that.
Went to my doctor and and she told me I was allergic to monistat, gave me hydrocortisone cream and a diflucan. I took the previous poster's advice and douched several times with summer's eve with vinegar (vinegar is known to restore the pH balance, which a yeastie throws out of whack). I IMMEDIATELY felt so much better. That was around 11am, now, at 5, the swelling is down considerably and the burning/itching is almost completely gone. Stay away from monistat ladies!!
I had a recurrent balanitis for 1.5 years and everything started after a yeast infection. I took fluconazole and used ointments and nothing helped me, the red spots were still there. Finally I went to another Urologyst and he suggested me to circumsice my penis and after thinking so much about it I went for it. The redness cleared right after the surgery, More than a year since the operation and my penis still looks very healthy without any rash.
Sit down on a bench or chair, put your head between your legs, and force yourself to breathe in deeply, and breathe out deeply. It's when the breathing gets to short and quick that the panic gets worse. At first you might feel like you can't do it, but with practice, you can. If you wear correctional glasses, take them off. For some reason sight plays into some peoples anxiety problems. Ok, now for when you are in an actual panic attack.
well I just wanted to update on here since my last post, So I have been positive with this strep b for over 3 months and the itching and discharge are crazy, But as of last friday they started me on another antibiotic since the augmentin and levaquin didnt work, this one is called dicloxcillin 500mg and im takin it with diflucan 200mg, the dicloxcillin im takin it 4 times a day and i feel so much better!! the itching and discharge has STOPPED! for the first time in 3 months......
when I have taken the amoxicillin in the past, so You would think if they were bacterial, that 2000mg of antibiotic would definitely get rid of whatever was causing it. There is no correlation between the cuts healing and the antibiotic. and I was never one to get yeast infections (even from that much antibiotic at once), so at least for me, that's not it either. Hope we find an answer soon. Until then, good luck ladies.
If I scratch at all I wind up causing small cuts in the skin, which only serve to further irritate the issue. The skin between my vaginal opening and anus stays cracked and irritated which causes it to burn during urination. I am on a low hormone birth control pill, which doesnt seem to affect the problem either way, an I have done my best to avoid eating/drinking very much sugar, in the event that it could possibly be blood sugar related to no avail.
This time it was thought to be a fungal infection. fluconazole tabs and Nystatin swish and swallow for 7 days. Tongue coloration developed two days after the mouth soreness. Soreness is gone, but tongue coloration persists. Been taking the anti-fungal meds for four days... Common thread seems to be related to antibiotics. Are there fungal cultures that can put a name to this tongue over growth? Are fluconazole and Nystatin wide spectrum enough to kill any oral fungal infection?
It's not huge but there is def a difference between my left and right lip. Ugh it just seems so closely related to what some people feel who have herpes, also the inside of my vaginal lips are red again, and I have slight burning! I've been on antibiotics and pills for yeast for a couple of days now and have no relief!!! Could I have PID??? That's the only other thought I have that it could be. I dont see a OBGYN until Monday!!! Ugh this us driving me crazy!!!!
