Avatar f tn -( My Lyme doc has refused to prescribe either matronidazole or Levaquin as he says they are too heavy on the liver and have to many potential side effects. Yet I keep reading they are great for treating bart as well as lyme. I wonder if I should insist a bit more and keep on at him. What do you think?
Avatar m tn Other risks he said were not valid with no apparent viral sores on mouth of partner. Took the Flagyl and 4 days of Levaquin and resumed contact with normal monogomous partner. Partner later developed what GYN called a bladder infection with horrible back pains and frequent urination / urgency. She rcvd, Nitrofuran mono 100mg and took several days...did not work. Went to PCP and he gave her 6 days of Levaquin 500 mg and 5 days of Flagyl 250 mg 3 per day. That seemed to clear her up.
Avatar f tn Ciprofloxacin, Avelox, Levaquin, norefloxacin, etc) cause, instead of choosing to diagnose each symptom individually?
Avatar m tn I was prescribed six 500mg Levaquin tablets to treat Strep Throat and a potential sinus infection. I only took 4 of the 6 pills since the side effects were getting to much to handle. I started on 3/12/2010 to 3/15/2010. Here were the side effects: -nausea -no appetite -headaches -dizziness -diarrhea -anxiety attacks -confusion, like you don't feel like yourself After I stopped taking it, my nausea and appetite returned gradually in the following two days.
Avatar m tn Handsfield I understand that Chlamydia is not transmitted orally so my fears were primarily GC since the Levaquin is a fluoroquinolone. After the Avelox, Flagy and 4 days of the Levaquin I resumed sex with my partner. She had the Bladder infection not long after that and was treated with Nitofuran, Flagyl, 750 mg per day x 6 days and Levaquin, 500 mg per day for 6 days...at the same time I was still on the Levaquin...
1994720 tn?1352742233 I just wanted to update that the tendon issues and every other weird symptom under the sun is from fluoroquinolone toxicity from Levaquin. I was given IV Levaquin and steroids for my bout with sepsis and this is the result. I still have tendon issues, horrible neuropathy, and met several others with consistently high b12 and other b vitamin levels with FQ toxicity.

798555 tn?1292787551 The FDA announced on August 15, 2013, that fluoroquinolone drugs such as Levaquin, Cipro and Avelox will be required to change packaging inserts to contain a warning for severe, permanent and disabling peripheral neuropathy. The FDA states that the damage may occur very soon into the administration of the drugs and the damage may be permanent.
Avatar n tn READ ABOUT CIPRO AND YOU'LL STOP TAKING IT. IT'S A FLUROQUINOLONE, SAME AS LEVAQUIN, AVELOX ETC. IT'S POISON.
1994720 tn?1352742233 I now wonder if my problem is medication-related. I did an interaction checker and side effect checker for the meds I'm on and a few cause dry mucous membranes and urinary retention. I wonder if this is why I got this raging yeast infection and the reason I can't get rid of it? Could vaginal dryness (which can cause vaginal wall thinning) do this?
215164 tn?1269466240 I also have sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy. I got this because I took the antibiotic Cipro. Everything started while I was taking this drug. I only took it for 3 1/2 days and I could not even do a calf raise after 2 or 3 weeks. Cipro belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoruquinolones. They also include Levaquin, Avelox and many others. They usually have a 'flox' in the chemical name (ex. Ciprofloxacin). Have you taken any of these antibiotics.
Avatar m tn I have a deviated septum that doesnt help and should be repaired...the avelox and levaquin are like poison to me know and still feel their side effects weeks and weeks later after stopping it...
Avatar f tn When diagnosed with Bart....my test for lym came back negative...but doc said he's not sure about that. I keep questioning in my mind if I really have Bart. But doc seems to think that I do...he is a lym specialist...so I guess I have to trust. Whats hard for me is I am on doxy (antibiotic) and other naturalpathic stuff. I feel like my symptoms are more constant and elevated...here's a list...twitching muscles...a lot in feet...heels hurt...eyes get dry (new symptom) foggy..
Avatar f tn I found a post that said that medications from the fluoroquinolone antibiotics (such as Cipro, Levaquin, Tequin, Avelox or Floxin) can cause these symptoms...I took Cipro and Levaquinn about 7 years ago, for a few short days each and my doctor switched the medication saying I was allergic. Now I am wondering if all my symptoms that have gone undiagnosed could be a side effect of those medications. Anyone else able to tie the two together? If so, what can you do to make it better?
Avatar n tn During or after your surgery did the doctor use in the IV or prescribe levaquin, cipro, or avelox. These are fluoroquinolones and are know to cause neuropathy. A coworker's father was given levaquin for pneumonia and now has neuropathy.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I think as I have gotten older its has gotten worse and might now need that new ballon procedure for the sinus...avelox and levaquin are like poison to me after being on them for so many weeks,,,anxiety,fatigue...insomnia...restlessness stomach upset...elevated heart rate...floroquines are bad...I still feel effects weeks after stopping them...I hope thats all it is...thanks Doctor...
Avatar f tn Hey all, I've run the gamut of all the specialists I can find, and I'm hoping maybe I can find some answers here. I've been on a 6 month journey trying to nail down a diagnosis, and I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with how frustrating that can be! My initial symptoms presented back in January--extreme fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, pins and needles in my hands & feet, some IBS, headaches, and shooting pains throughout my body.
Avatar n tn Sure, there are lots of antibiotics. If you're allergic to azithromycin, you also probably can't take clarithromycin and erythromycin. And if doxycycline doesn't work, there's probably no used in taking tetracycline. So that does eliminate a lot of them. If the doxycycline isn't working, either your tests are consistently false positives, or you have a resistant strain. It's not typical, but it does happen.
Avatar f tn I know this is a late comment, but did you take an antibiotic for your sinus infection? There are several that cause the side effects you've described. They are Cipro, Levaquin, and Avelox. This is known as fluoroquinolone toxicity syndrome because this class of drugs is known as fluoroquinolones. There's a film called Certain Adverse Events that describes the stories of people in similar situations. And there are several online support groups. I wish you good health and healing.
Avatar m tn Checked my sinus and said it still a bit inflamed and prescribed doxocycline antibiotic to finish the dose for sinuses that was originally started by my ent who gave me those awful avelox and levaquin meds..He wants to switch me to celexa from valium for my health anxiety too.I am still sore a little under my arms but so are my shoulders from all the physical work I have done over the years.Still stressed but I guess I have to go with what the doctor tells me.Thanks.
Avatar n tn For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
Avatar f tn Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
Avatar f tn s since this all started and it never helped. What is the difference between Flonase and Nasonex?
