Avatar n tn i had my surgery in may and i am hungry within 20 minutes of eating, even over eating and my stomach is growling all the time like i haven't had anything to eat in days. does this ever go away? 'cause i'm gaining weight like a water balloon.
Avatar f tn I am not discrediting the idea of there being an ulcer, I mean the signs match with what I have been feeling. I was worried that the ulcer was a side effect of the surgery I had less than a year ago. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
1072053 tn?1255438362 I'm 22, and the job I'm with doesn't provide health insurance just yet as I just started it. I went to the ER and they took blood and stool sample, however, found no H. Pylori in either. Now, I'm no doctor, but H.Pylori would not be in my blood stream right, it would only be within the area of the stomach where heavy acids are, because that's where it harbors.
270554 tn?1289511647 I been having major problems with acid reflux...now several months after surgery I have severe pressure pain where the gallbladder was with massive air bubbles...actually pressing there sometimes you can move them...this is the right upper abdomin... Eating certain foods even cause moderate to severe pain there bilariy tree I suppose its called... Can this be sphincter of oddi dysfunction?
Avatar f tn Exactly seven days later I had a perforated duodenal ulcer and emergency surgery. Afterwards I was put on pantoprazole 40mg, once a day. I was on this for three months then my prescription was over. During my time off of pantoprazole I noticed sharp abdominal pains, nausea, bloating, and a general unwell feeling. I saw a GI who didn’t offer much insight but scheduled a colonoscopy/endoscopy and put me back on pantoprazole 40mg.
351846 tn?1273615544 t keep weight on even with my J-tube. Try to go on a diet with out the sugars, high carb, similar to the diabetic diet, eat 5-6 times a day small amounts.
Avatar f tn m now being told that surgery is the only hopeful solution...... Has anyone had such surgery? I need to know if the situation may re-occur after the surgery. Did they too take a portion of your stomach and small intestine out? I currently have 7 ulcers. Thanks This discussion is related to Length of time to heal Ulcers or stomach irratation.
1139187 tn?1355706647 that requires antibiotic treatment and the majority of ulcers come from that...or if this is an ulcer caused by poor diet/alchohol/smoking then you need a good dose of acid reducers (the prescription kind..) I think the common name is opremazole (I know I totally butchered the name of that drug...but acidphex or protonix or...purple pill...can't think of the name...will do..take 30-45 min before eating a meal..) On the food question..it s-u-c-k-s...
Avatar n tn Many people have issues with bile 'dumping' following GB surgery. Is she on a low fat diet? Have the docs tried using any form of bile-binding resin to see if that would change the issue? Any food intolerance issues in her family? Is there any correlation between what she eats and the frequency of bowel habits? Any rashes? Any severe/unusual fatigue after eating?
Avatar n tn I HAD ATTEMPTED TO TRY THE OPTIFAST DIET AND THE EPIGASTRIC DISCOMFORT AND SIDE ACHES GOT WORSE. AFTER HAVING AN EGD, WHICH WAS NEGATIVE FOR AN ULCER AND HAVING A HIDA SCAN WHICH REVEALED MY GALLBLADDER WAS ONLY FUNCTIONING AT 6%. I DECIDED TO HAVE MY GALL BLADDER REMOVED LAPROSCOPICALLY ON DEC. 4 2008. IT WENT VERY WELL. I WAS TOLD I DID NOT HAVE TO STRICTLY ADHERE TO LOW FAT DIET.
Avatar f tn I had back surgery about 6 1/2 years ago and I have taken a good amount of medication due to the back pain; is it possible there is a problem with my stomach lining? Could it be an ulcer?
Avatar f tn For almost a year now I have been having problems with abdominal bloating and pain. I had gall bladder surgery 4 months ago and it seemed a little better at first. I have consistent bouts of diarrhea where I go 5-10 times a day. When I go to the bathroom, I cannot get it to stop even though it feels like I do not need to go anymore. I have seepage that constantly comes out for about 5 minutes after each bowel movement. I also have sharp pains in my lower right abdomen.
Avatar f tn s just an ulcer..but yeah def. could be gallbladder disease. In the meantime follow that diet..super low in fats/oils...if it's ulcer use some tums but you're looking at more testing if you don't feel better soon :S sorry. Try not to stress..you'll end up having panick attacks not sleeping and being a royal wreck like Matthew.
Avatar n tn I've never heard of pain medication being prescribed for an ulcer. Some people suffer from ulcers throughout their entire lives and learn to function normally by eating the right foods and taking care of the issue.
148354 tn?1211233906 Hello! hoping for some insight. My 11 yr old male cat came sick out of nowhere, weak, fatique, weight loss (anorexic) bony, refuses to eat, vomiting, and seems to be mentally declining,as if in a "brain fog".
Avatar n tn The risk of vomiting can be prevented by following the proper diet guidelines right after the surgery. The patient should follow the different stages of the diet phase and should also avoid any of the food groups that can further cause problems for their condition.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your advice! I have noticed that coffee makes it worse by giving me anxiety so I have stopped drinking that. I will try eating only fish and no soda too. Thanks again!
Avatar m tn you might have started eating meat to soon, my surgeon told me not to eat it for the first month and then to ease it back into my diet...
Avatar f tn My question is do you believe that this is indeed a stomach ulcer? If it is a stomach ulcer then how long would it take for a PPI such as Dexilant to help alleviate the symptoms? Thank you for your time and sorry for the long post.
Avatar f tn Pax, I agree with you about the diet! Over 45 years ago I had an acute duodenal ulcer. I was burning all the way up to my throat. my cousin an MD wanted to put me on some medication but I changed my diet instead and it took about a year and everything healed and never had a problem again. I love spicy foods and use spice on just about everything.
Avatar m tn Figuring it to be exhaustion I put up with it for a week. When the symptoms persisted I called the doc. His review was a peptic ulcer and prescribed 30mg of Prevacid along with 1g of Amoxil and Biaxin (not sure of amount). Since then, I have nausea in the morning upon waking even after eating and taking the pills. In the afternoon I start to cough and get a taste of mucus or bile. I am too young to have these problems. Please help or advise anyway you can.
469934 tn?1333135282 Since Feb 3rd when I found out I had gallstones and needed surgery I have been put on that crazy diet where you can barley eat anything. I too am without insurance. Filled out all my paperwork and just sitting here waiting for them to say GO! I have lost alot of weight, which I didn't need to do in the 1st place. Lets not mention when I went and met with the surgeon the ER recommended he gave me Toradol for pain.
Avatar n tn What else is there I can do. I have changed my diet and am taking Zofran for the nausea. It is not getting better at all. Spend half of my day laying down because of the dizziness and weakness after eating. Can't go anywhere because of the diarhea. I am normally very active and a busy person. Any advice or suggestion. I don't want to loose any more weight. I am now told I am malnourished and nothing is helping. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Last week, during a general cleaning my dentist took pictures. Before surgery, the ulcer was 5 cm. It is now 8 cm. It has a white ring around the ulcer. It is not really painful, but it does bother me. My dentist took several pictures and showed them to two oral surgeons. They advised me to return to the ENT doctor. He is well thought of in our community. I have an appointment on Monday, However, I am concerned.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a pepcid ulcer and reflux a little over a week ago and was put on a once-daily dose of 40mg Protonix. Ever since then I have been experiencing uncomfortable constipation with full relief coming only once. As you can imagine, it's not only uncomfortable but embarrassing to be bloated and gassy almost every day. How long should I be on the Protonix, and should I be taking anything else to help ease the constipation?
