My goal is to eliminate the blood pressure and fluid meds and the acid reflux med.... all of which are caused from my weight. really don't think I can change the hormones, but it losing weight will help me feel better overall... and who knows maybe the hormones will correct themselves...
Avatar f tn So, I've been overweight my whole life and I started making changes for the last two years but I haven't totally idk given up my fat mind state. It's like because I've never been a healthy weight, I feel it's impossible for me to be that person. I get mad at myself because I know I can do it but I over think it and then start doubting myself because my real goal is so big about 80lbs. So, I haven't lost any weight because I stop myself, wow that's a real wake up call.
1286779 tn?1400012806 I ALSO JUST ORDER THE BOOK THYROID SOLOUTION. I KNOW ITS CRAZY BUT I WANT TO TRY TO BE MY OLD SELF. I AM OPEN TO ANY OPIONION YOU GUYS HAVE WITH ANYTHING TO TRY.
Avatar f tn What I did find made a big change was when my thyroid hormone levels went back to normal. My thyroid was effected by my treatment from the very beginning of treatment. I have keep all my blood work and see that how I feel and my thyroid levels go hand in hand. So because it took 10 months for my thyroid to return to normal ...it only since last week I feel the effects of treatment are finally leaving. Hepatitis C treatment effects every part of your body.
Avatar f tn Last visit, I was told based on my labs that they wanted to increase my Synthroid from 100 to 112. I was already experiencing heart palpitations, sleep issues and weight gain. I did some research and did not like the fact that I was getting an increase in Synthroid when my T3 was low. TSH: 3.4 (0.5-4.7 range) FT4: 1.07 (.73-1.95 range) FT3: 1.9 (2.3-4.
500923 tn?1210168927 I would definately stay away from the soy bean products as all the reading I have done says it is not good for people with thyroid disorders. Iodine is a funny one. I think that would depend on if you have a thyroid disorder due to low iodine levels, etc. I agree with Stella on a good diet limiting sugar, no artificial sweetners, no msg. I think the best nuts to snack on are almonds. I think some of the complex carbs are important in moderation. Good protein and lots of veggies.
Avatar f tn The next month, I am so totally exhausted I can not get up blood work shows hypothyroidism, so I am still waiting to get into the specialist so another blood test the next month shows that my thyroid levels are normal, I finally get into the specialist early due to a cancellation. He tells me it is probably good that I got in early because with what my thyroid was doing I was probably going to crash anyday. I am given levothyroxin to take for 6 months, with blood work to be done every 2 months.
Avatar f tn m pretty sure I was being over-medicated anyway)...So...If I can stimulate my thyroid to kick into gear before my Endo gets any ideas of putting me back on the Synthroid (I'm post-thyroiditis), maybe I won't need it? I'm taking kelp supplements and eat seafood regularly...(I'm so lucky I live a short distance from the ocean!)...Any other suggestions? I have a 6 week window to stimulate it naturally...What's worked for you? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I am a recovering bulimic myself (lasted on and off for about 7 years). I had quit several times only to go back to it. I kept quitting for everyone else and not myself. It wasn't until I quit because I wanted to that I finally did for good. I actually ended up with severe thyroid disease and now have heart problems because of the bulimia.
Avatar n tn The cold dampness blocks the clear Yang to rise, and the brain losses cerebral collateral support, so you always want to sleep. With regard to your leg pain, and always be cold, I suggest you make a pair of lower limbs angiography, to exclude the thromboangiitis obliterans. I give the recommendation is to exercise more, eat less greasy high-fat foods, eat more fruits and vegetables. 7-9 hours of sleep is enough, you should not be in bed all day.
Avatar m tn Elevated liver enzymes, elevated triglycerides, low HDL, elevated uric acid, elevated ESR rate, elevated TSH are labs that can show up with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism causes many symptoms but includes high blood pressure. The elevated ESR is an inflammatory marker and may be due Hashimoto's thyroiditis (autoimmune thyroid disease). Recommended to test for thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb).

Avatar f tn I am attempting to add wheatgrass shots to my daily routine for general well being. I am currently dealing with some thyroid issues again, after several years of good health. (waiting for a referral to my wonderful endocrinologist who is in high demand!) I have Graves Disease, but recently gained a lot of weight after a miscarriage, despite normal diet/activity levels. (In the past I struggled to keep my weight up, not down!
Avatar f tn I feel that the best way to support your husband is, go through the necessary life changes with him. Change your diet, watch the carbohydrates, get exercise, test his/your levels often, let him know that you are there every step of the way. to me, there is no better support system than having someone walk in the same shoes at the same time. Spend more times taking walks and being outdoors. Join a gym or do yoga together.
1451395 tn?1290101104 TSH alone is not adequate to diagnose and treat thyroid diseases/disorders. You have to test the actual thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 to know if you need medication. If these were tested, please post the results along with the reference ranges. Your TSH, at 0.334, is at the low end of the reference range (0.3-3.0). This is not usually indicative of hypo. TSH is counterintuitive...the lower it is the closer you are to hypER, the higher it is, the more hypO you are.
Avatar f tn Selenium can help lower thyroid peroxide antibodies (TPOAb) antibodies. I prefer to eat Brazil nuts (two a day) than take selenium tablets. Four minerals that support healthy blood sugar (and are low in diabetics) are chromium, magnesium, zinc, selenium. I have read diabetes also lowers vitamin C.
14025207 tn?1435674557 Finally, two months later, I was able to get into see my new primary. He listened to my list of symptoms, agree my thyroid was enlarged, ordered a US. He only wanted to test TSH, T3,T4. I instructed him to test TPO/ab and TG/ab. If I hadn't, I wouldn't know what I know now. He doesn't know anything about thyroid issues, so referred me to an Endo. I was already working with this fabulous ND, so she is the one who is really getting to the bottom of this.
11587059 tn?1427628263 Yes I have looked into changing my diet. I mainly eat only healthy foods like vegetables and fruits. I get really sick with almost everything I eat. I can't eat anything dairy without throwing it back up. Peanuts, meat, bananas, corn, potatoes, and even plain rice make me throw up. It's very hard to change my diet when I just have run out of things to eat...
616450 tn?1228433627 Hi Ed, Although I can't answer your question about what foods to avoid or add, I find it interesting that you notice your thyroid hurting after eating dairy. Your thyroid is the only gland in the body that absorbs iodine. Before getting the radioactive iodine treatment, patients are supposed to follow a low iodine diet for a week or two beforehand, so the thyroid is starved for iodine. That way, when they ingest the pill, it will travel to any thyroid tissue in the body.
