And indeed, newer agents that treat cancer are targeting the angiogenesis factors so that prevention of new blood vessels supplying the tumor could starve off the cancer cells and eventually kill them. However, additional research or tests may need to be done to understand more about this. Also, many factors may need to b considered such as the medical history and symptoms present. It is best that you talk to your attending physician also for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
no, hbv controls our immune system and is not so stupid or weak to be influenced by a diet, unfortunately nothing can clear hbv infection but sequential treatment by tenofovir for 1-3 years and peginterferon add on after that (4-5 years total) vitamin d can reduce its replication but only by supplements because vit d is lowered by hbv and sun exposure or normal dose supplements cannot incraese it to reduce liver damage you need only raw fresh unprocessed foods with no chemicals whatsoever, low
I followed the protocol in KT's book and began my diet on the third day but Dr. Simmeon's protocol says to gorge for 3 days and then begin the diet. I don't know why there is a day difference in the protocols. Also I noticed that DR. Simmeon says to eat white fish but in KT's book he is specific about the white fish being halibut, Chilean sea bass, flounder or sole. Is anyone following just Dr. Simmeon's protocol and if so are you eating other white fish like orange roughy or tilapia?
this. diet. *****. Period, the end. Nobody understands it at all, which is infuriating ("So, now what all can you eat on the diet?") and I'm just hungry 24/7. Everything you can actually eat is basically digested in 15 minutes, so I'm hungry every 15 minutes and still have the same stupid options I had 15 minutes ago, which is going to make me hungry again in 15 minutes!!! Seriously, I just can't take it and can't believe I still have two more weeks of this!!!
I don't really know what phase 2 and 3 are because I don't know much about the HCG diet. I am trying to get my body in shape to loose weight and I feel after years of constipation, this should be my first step. I have just gotten in the state of mind to really make a change. Thanks for your help.
Another thing is that once your thyroid levels are balanced and at at good level for you, you should be able to lose weight by implementing a healthy diet and moderate exercise program. Yes, I am finally losing some weight -- I've dropped about 4 pounds over the past week and 1/2 - now to keep them off....... BTW -- feel free to come visit us in the Weight Loss and Dieting community as well...
I just wanted to check if anyone knows, does one have to do the low iodine diet leading up to thyroid ablation for cancer, or is it only for the scans? My surgeon says no diet but I thought the low iodine diet applied to all the RAI treatments?
************************************** NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - The amount of calcium and vitamin D in the diet appears to have little or no impact on the risk of prostate cancer, but the consumption of low-fat or nonfat milk may increase the risk of the malignancy, according to the results of two studies published in the American Journal of Epidemiology. Dietary calcium and dairy products have been thought to increase the risk of prostate cancer by affecting vitamin D metabolism.
I originally intended to do this diet for 14+ days, however I was so miserable I didn't last but 7 days even though I was highly motivated. I was having another severe episode from my RA and needed relief. Losing weight was only a secondary reason for the diet. I was hungry all the time and it was extremely difficult to stay on the diet. After work I would go home and crash on the sofa from exhaustion.
When the food supply is cut off, the cancer begins to starve unless it can make the body produce sugar to feed itself. The wasting syndrome, cachexia, is the body producing sugar from proteins (you heard it right, not from carbohydrates or fats, but from proteins) in a process called glycogenesis. This sugar feeds the cancer. The body finally dies of starvation, trying to feed the cancer. Now, knowing that one's cancer needs sugar, does it make sense to feed it sugar?
As I mentioned, the cancer will continue eating anyway even if the patient elects to starve. The simplest advice would be to check his diet if it seems adequate. Other things to consider would be metastasis to the adrenals. If there is reduction in adrenal function – one of the symptoms may indeed be erratic blood sugar. This is a potentially life-threatening condition. A visit to the doctor would be appropriate sooner than later.
Luckily you found this forum because you will find there are a lot of us thyroid cancer patients here to help get you through anything. First of all, what type of cancer and what stage was it? Since you've had 1/2 of your thyroid out you know what the surgery is like. I did it just like you. Half out first where they found cancer. The other half came out a year later after they also found thyroid cancer in 3 out of 4 of my sisters.
Dear Rose2002, Cancer cells like all living things need energy to continue to grow. Our bodies convert food through a complex metabolic process into energy. All carbohydrates in our diet (including sugar) eventually are broken down into simple sugars that are used as energy. We can't "starve" the cancer cells without also "starving" our normal body cells.
SCD was developed for crohns, but since you remove most sugars and starches completely and add fibre instead, bacteri, fungi and parasites have nothing left to eat and starve. You will have a few very horrible days with flu-like symptoms once your start, so start on a weekend. I have parasites, and I was able to control my symptoms with this diet until the diagnosis was made.
I am very sorry to read abt your kitty and the problems he is having, wow 19yrs old..he's lived a long wonderful and loved life but not without its hardships too, you've done an excellent job caring for your boy...I can understand how hard it is to make that final decision and when is the right time to do so.. I don't really think I can give you any decent answer to your questions...other than to tempt him with anything he may like to eat, have you tried a piece of chicken? some canned tuna?
He stated that the cancer caused blockages in her intestine, that doctors did several surgeries to remove pieces of her intestine, each time they did surgery the blockage moved further up until she was completely unable to hold down any food. He says that the cancer caused her to starve to death, she weight 79 lbs the day she passed away. I contacted the hospital only to find that the records are all destroyed.
I heard of an alkaline diet vs an acidic diet, heard of controlled amino acid therapy and different foods which helps to starve the cancer cells, trying to help him before cancer spreads outside of liver and to different organs. he continues to work, but tires easily, his AFP blood levels recent results currently at 22000. Is it too late to do something, oh! esopgeal varices not bad, please reply, need serious help, he is only 59 y/o and my husband of nine years.
Holy - I am vegan (have been for 3 years) and am now doing to candida diet on top of the vegan diet. I do admit that I started eating fish once or twice a week though for protein. Other than that, the diet is boooring.
I asked three of my favorite medical experts to explain what it means to be fit and forty, and how you can get there. Myth-busting With Dr. Dickerson Dr. Val: I know that many women in their 40’s complain of having gained weight. What causes that weight gain? Is it inevitable? Dr. Dickerson: Many women don’t gain weight in their 40’s so it’s certainly not inevitable. There are a few common misconceptions about weight gain and aging that I’d like to address.
The purpose of the diet is to starve your body of iodine so the RAI treatment is most effective.I was only on my LID diet for about 10 days>They are looking for your tsh level to be above a certain level(usually 35) before you get the treatment.I had a TT for stage 1 follicular cancer on dec 12th and had my RAI tratment on dec 27th and started my synthroid the next day (28th).I had my full body scan yesterday.
I am twenty four, and I am not pregnant, but my appetite is very unhealthy. I don't try to diet or starve myself but it is very common for me to go the whole day without eating, and sometimes when I do finally eat I get so full that I start gagging after I eat and sometimes during. Is it possible that my smoking and bad eating habits are the cause of my gagging or should I consider the fact that I may have throat/stomach cancer? Am I being a hypochondriac?
The reason for this is that the regular body cells are flexible enough to change accordingly in response to this, whereas the cancer is not. Therefore, it will starve to death. Any other treatments would be appreciated more than anything in the world. I'm only 15 and am finally getting my life together, I don't know how me, my sister and my farther would cope. Please. Anything. Thank you. Matt.
Restricted calorie intake has been shown definitively to reduce hypertension (not to mention cancer, diabetes, and will stabilize your blood sugar). You don't have to starve yourself, but start slowly decreasing your calories, maybe by 10-20% of what you normally eat, and see if that makes a difference. If you eat a high-carb diet, it might be a little easier to back off the carbs if you restrict your calories. Protein has a more satiating effect than carbs on appetite.
Also you will find that Infanticide was practised more often than we care to admit and often crazy people were simply shunned or ignored, left to starve to death in many cases. Disability was rarer because in many communities people who could not work were left to die and sick and disabled children were no different.
Its as weak as I can find, where it still gives me the energy and clarity of mind I need to work like I do, without getting me 'high'. I just want to be able to work like I am supposed to without being recreation in my usage. Currently I have a LOT of child support I pay, over 1k every month, so to make ends meet I work a full time job (8am to 5pm M-F) and from 6pm till between 8pm and 12pm every week day. I also work most weekend at least 8 hours a day.
Americans eat far too much dairy anyway but I will tell you the minute I was off the Diet I made a pot of my favorite homemade sauce with probably double the recipe's alotted parmesan cheese and I got loaf of store bought italian bread to dip in it and then waddled away from the stove!!haha If you have to have cancer, this is the one to get because the treatment is brilliant.
No, it is not inevitable that you will gain a lot of weight...but the alternative - cancer - is far worse than gaining a few pounds. I had a lobectomy last april, I did not really gain any weight until my TT in June after they found papillary cancer. After the TT I did gain 20 pounds, not really fun, but I walked every day, even when I felt crappy. After radioactive iodine treatment I finally got my synthroid, then I dropped 10 pounds in about 2 months.
Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites. 11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply. CANCER CELLS FEED ON: a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful.
Hi, I was just diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer after having my thyroid removed. I am not an expert on PET scans, but I have been doing some research iodine radioactive treatment to treat the cancer. I know that I will need to be off thyroid meds for a few weeks and go on a low iodine diet. I need to "starve" myself of anything that aids the thyroid. This allows the radioactive iodine to be absorbed by any remaining thyroid cells in my body.
the cancer cells of protein nutrients. I'm allowing her to do this as long as there are no side effects to these herbal treatment. Is this wise? Any comments and opinions will be much appreciated. God bless!
