Avatar f tn Chronic anxiety, social phobias, post-traumatic stress syndrome, etc. are normal parts of the day-to-day life, and it is necessary to learn how to get rid of them rather than living with them. It's normal to get anxious before addressing a group of people or stress out before your first meeting with a new client.
Avatar n tn It is impossible to tell based on the information provided if the throat pain is due to heart disease. It certainly sounds like you have a lot of things going that can be causing you suffering (insomnia, stress, etc). I suggest continued close consultation with your primary physician to see if further testing (e.g. exercise stress test) would be warranted.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, you seem to have insomnia but a milder form. In young to middle aged individuals, sleep maintenance problems tend to be associated with stress, anxiety, or circadian rhythm sleep disorders. They may also be associated with sleep disorders (e.g., sleep apnea, periodic limb movements), medical conditions that cause pain, psychiatric diseases (e.g., anxiety, depression), or the use or withdrawal of alcohol, nicotine, or other substances.
603015 tn?1329862973 I am coming off olanzapine and I have stopped sleeping properly, I do not want this to trigger and episode. I seem to be finding it harder and harder to get to sleep and then waking up several times, I think im getting about 3-5 hours sleep, I was sleeping 8-9 hours before. I have only had one reduction of the med so far and am about to have the next reduction. Any advise on how I can overcome this problem as sleep deprevation has always been a big trigger for me.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you for your question. Questions regarding medication are best discussed with your doctor as they prescribe the medication and know your particular situation. What is your specific issue with insomnia? Rozerem seems to be best used for those who don't fall asleep easily. Is that your situation? It works on melatonin and is not supposed to be habit forming which is a great benefit. https://www.medicinenet.com/rozerem/article.

Avatar f tn I have tried many medications for anxiety/depression, over 40, nothing has worked. My psychiatrist and I have decided to only focus on sleep/insomnia. Well, I have tried zopiclone, clonazapam, which make me calm but still wont put me to sleep. The ONLY thing that has helped for the past two years is Amitriptlyne. It has been a life saver to finally be able to get a good night sleep for the first time in 25 years!

Avatar n tn I recently restumbled over a great resource. It is a book by Dale Carnegie called "How to stop worrying and start living". You can find copies of this book at your local Barnes and Noble, Books A Million, etc. Copies are less than $8 for paper back. I highly recommend this book. It has great strategies for dealing with worry, anxiety, rest, insomnia, relaxation, etc.
Avatar n tn I was so good for a while on my lexapro and wellbutrin...happily skipping through life. This past week has been really rough on my boyfriend and me (long story), and I find myself extremely down. I can't stop crying, and I wont' be able to sleep tonight. I even cut myself in the shower before to see if it would make me feel better. well, it was failure because a)I don't feel better and b)I did a really sloppy job cutting lol.
Avatar m tn I was taking 12 to 15 Vicodin every 3 to 4 hours. I was taking 60 to 75 per day and when it ramped up to about 100 per day even my drug addicted mind knew it was time to let go. I did it at home just like most everyone else does. Quitting pain killers was no where near as much fun as getting kicked in the head but very doable. Gpison pretty much sumed it up on what you'll be looking at as far as the withdrawal symptoms. Good luck, you can do it. You'll be glad you did.
Avatar f tn They have proven that certain food dyes do cause ADHD symptoms. However, there are studies that show that diet is not effective in treating autism, and I can personally attest to that. My son is autistic, and there were no changes (aside from normal progression, which is still incredibly rapid) on the GFCF diet. So, no. I buy that a healthy, balanced diet will help you period... regardless of illness.
Avatar m tn Has anyone used melatonin to help them fall asleep to any great effect.
Avatar m tn Once I realized that there was nothing wrong with me except anxiety caused by lack of sleep, I was able to overcome the problem. It is a vicious circle - anxiety leads to lack of sleep which leads to more anxiety. Break the cycle. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Of course everyone is different, but something that helps me sleep better is just a hot cup of cocoa or chocolate about a half an hour before bedtime. I can usually get to sleep, but I am awakened by a lower back pain that develops after I have been in bed from two to seven hours, so the amount of sleep I get varies from night to night. A heating pad and the hot chocolate often help me sleep through more hours than I otherwise would.

Avatar f tn That diet is very similar to the Swank diet from Dr. Swank here is Portland. I was noticing that one diet eliminates gluten and claims to improve MS, while most of the others encourage all whole grains and claim to reverse or improve MS. It would be interesting to dredge up all the big diets and print their recommendations here so we would have it for comparison. They all encourage eating whole foods and eliminating or lowering red meat and dairy.
1348302 tn?1286575703 Should start high and do a gradual fall, to low. I never do the drop to low, thus the insomnia. Tring to overcome adrenal fatigue and thyroid issues now. Not supposed to exercise yet.
Avatar m tn after 7 days the worst should be over however due to the prolonged use your brain has adjusted to working with this medication. you should expect insomnia and muscle aches. i recommend going to an outpatient program or therapy. This will give you the support to stay on the right track and prevent relape. due to the fact that you've been using for 2+ years your brain will continue to tell you to seek the hydro and you will have major cravings. stay strong and stay away from it.
Avatar n tn is there any way of curing insomnia without going to see a doctor or someone like that?
