Diet soda versus regular soda

Common Questions and Answers about Diet soda versus regular soda

diet

Avatar f tn I would avoid diet. I would drink a regular soda the sweeteners in the diet are bad for you and I could not imagine what it might do to a unborn baby. I think I would just go with regular sugared drinks sugar is more fattening but safer health wise. Other wise there is nothing wrong with giving in to a craving. You sound under control of the craving.
Avatar f tn If the craving for root beer in particular continues over more than just the next few days, go get some Hansen's or other natural version of root beer that does not use either the chemicals in diet soda or the high-fructose corn syrup in regular commercial root beer. Hansen's has sugar in it but at least it's just sugar, not the other stuff that are each bad for you in their own way.
Avatar f tn Ok, so I cut regular soda out of my diet. I normally drink water, diet can iced tea (or fresh) and seltzer. Now my question is.... is diet soda OK in moderation? Like when me and my bf go to a mall, water gets so boring and the fast food places generally never have seltzer water. So therefore I'm forced with diet soda (YUCK). Is it ok just on the weekends? I mean I guess I'm doing something right, I've lost 30.5bs since 9/14 (not even 3 months yet) and still have another 12.
1891853 tn?1344648442 If you really want soda, the best would be something like ginger ale, or caffeine free versions of regular sodas...but if you want regular soda, you can have up to 250mg of caffeine a day, and the sort of soda you drink doesn't matter so much as how much caffeine each serving has...for instance, a 16-oz coca cola has 45mg of caffeine in it (just checked the bottle I was drinking ;-) ) so you could have quite a few without risking drinking "too much caffeine".
Avatar f tn Diet or regular soda Is not good for anyone! Either plain water or club soda or seltzer.
Avatar f tn There is research that suggests a high-sugar diet during pregnancy can make the baby more likely to get diabetes. If you are drinking sugared drinks (high fructose corn syrup) please limit yourself to one can a day, even that amount has the equivalent of 12 teaspoons of sugar in it. If you are drinking diet soda, big problems -- the chemicals they use in them are (by some accounts) even worse for you than sugar.
Avatar f tn If it is not diet soda, that is one heck of a sugar load. I think it is the equivalent to 12 teaspoons of sugar in a 12-ounce can. And unfortunately, if it is diet soda, it is loaded with chemicals. Hate to say it because the sugar gives you a higher diabetes risk and a higher risk that your child will later on develop diabetes, and the chemicals are just nasty for you. Can you taper off by cutting the soda in half with sparkling water?
Avatar f tn Im not suppose to have it at all but I have a diet soda once in a great while with lots of ice just for the cravings
Avatar f tn I was told to stay away from diet soda and then when i was at the doc for a nst they gave me diet coke to get her to move more so its really hard to figure out what your actually supposed to do.

1536593 tn?1292557199 I get severe head aches when I drink Diet Soda, off brand or not, could it be an intolerance to the artificial sweetener or an allergy?
Avatar f tn A person wanting to lose weight should do so in a scientific way for long term benefits. A healthy diet and regular exercise or incorporating yoga into your daily regime can help to lose weight. I suggest you to eat frequent small meals and eat more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and protein and less of fats, butter and potato etc. Drink lots of water and consume fruits rich in vitamin C as it is a fat burner. All these will definitely help you. Do keep me posted.
5913031 tn?1382391190 Diet soda... Not sure about. Any diet soda is bad for you period whether pregnant or not. Research shows it can cause cancer. Also contains aspartame which is a form of rat poison, anyway. Soda is alright during pregnancy here and there... As long as you don't consume for then 200mg.
Avatar f tn I LOVE high fructose corn syrup!!
7366593 tn?1400009626 Oh and im 33 weeks with a healthy baby girl. And ive drank it the whole time..
72351 tn?1281992542 Those are great times to indulge yourself with some of that regular soda, if you have a craving for it. And for those other times, there are some great diet sodas out there. Good luck. It sounds like you are doing a great job!
Avatar f tn I gave up all pop once I realized how much sugar is in a glass of pop. Diet soda is even worse. Most diet soda has an ingredient in it called Aspartame. Did you know that one of the ingredients of aspartame is wood alchohol. No joke. I researched aspartame and discovered this. Wood alcohol is actually a poison. Also the more diet soda you drink, the greater your craving for sugar is. Soda is also very bad for your intestines.
Avatar f tn You're better off drinking a regular soda than diet because of the aspartame. Aspartame isn't good for you at all!
8722107 tn?1399602652 This is my fifth pregnacy and all I drink is soda not diet regular pepsi..soda and water..and ive never had any issues at all...
Avatar f tn Diet sodas are not any better for you than regular sodas. Regular soda is full of sugar, which is bad for you. Diet sodas have artificial sweeteners which can make you crave sugar, even more. I can't say you'll gain weight just from drinking the diet soda, but if makes you crave sweet or fatty foods, you might likely gain.
Avatar m tn Something that I do is look at the lables when I am not sure if something is ok for me. When you do this compare the lables from a diet soda to a regular soda and see what they look like, this will pretty much give you a answer as well.
5002615 tn?1366014009 Have you hae much water today? You could be dehydrated.
Avatar f tn I wouldn't drink any. Soda and diet soda is bad for you whether you are pregnant or not.
Avatar f tn I believe Pepsi light is a form of diet soda which is worse that regular soda. The substitute sugar in it is bad for you & baby. It would be safer for you to drink a regular Pepsi than the light. Google diet soda for a little more insight. I crave soda too. I try to stick with sprite since its caffeine free.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to drink diet soda while pregnant? I usually drink one 12 oz can of regular soda but my husband bought me diet is that okay for baby?
