1287446 tn?1313947638 Most state soda simply can’t cause what I’m dealing with, and I know it doesn’t seem highly likely, but I have always been a soda drinker. I drink only diet soda, so I don’t get the sugar but I get the artificial sweeteners. I know in a perfect world, no one would drink soda, but if it’s not hurting my kidney function, I wouldn’t like to give it up. I’ve been addicted to various kinds of diet soda in the past, and have recently made even more cut-backs in my consumption.
Avatar f tn Well I have completely took soda pop, coffee, and other high caffinated beverages out of my diet. I haven't had a single soda or coffee drink in about a month. I have been drinking a lot of juice and tons of water. Here lately I have been waking up with my right kidney pain again, and its only painful in the mornings. It feels fine if I lay on the side that the pain in son, but if I roll over to my left side it hurts so bad to even breathe.
Avatar n tn About 8 months ago I had a kidney stone. Since it didn't pass on its own, surgery was required. Upon further review, I was told I had another stone in my right kidney. Well, since the surgery I've had dull aching pain that was originally only in my right kidney, but now I quite frequently have the pain in both the right and left, but not at the same time. I first thought it was because I drank a can of soda once in a while, because I noticed right after I drank it there was always pain.
Avatar f tn Diet and decaf are the worse no matter if you're pregnant or not. I like fizzy drinks so it doesn't have to be soda. Maybe find a different alternative?
Avatar f tn Thanks. I just wanted one diet root beer because I am dying for root beer lol.
Avatar f tn Ok, so I cut regular soda out of my diet. I normally drink water, diet can iced tea (or fresh) and seltzer. Now my question is.... is diet soda OK in moderation? Like when me and my bf go to a mall, water gets so boring and the fast food places generally never have seltzer water. So therefore I'm forced with diet soda (YUCK). Is it ok just on the weekends? I mean I guess I'm doing something right, I've lost 30.5bs since 9/14 (not even 3 months yet) and still have another 12.
1536593 tn?1292557199 I get severe head aches when I drink Diet Soda, off brand or not, could it be an intolerance to the artificial sweetener or an allergy?
Avatar f tn What is everyone's thoughts on drinking diet soda? I know they say to stay away from artificial sugars, but I've been drinking diet soda forever & I'm having a hard time giving it up. Is one a day bad?
Avatar f tn Glomerulonephritis, inherited kidney diseases, congenital conditions and infection may also be responsible. A lot of studies have linked soda to diabetes. Though drinking soda will not directly cause diabetes, it adds extra calories to the diet that may cause weight gain, increasing the risk for developing diabetes. Lifestyle modification and healthy diet can significantly lower the risk of diabetes and other chronic conditions including CKD. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn so I just had my first kidney stone a couple months ago at the age of 20. One main reason this happened was due to the amounts of soda I drank at the time(3 times a day). Obviously I've changed this and haven't had much at all since, and I've increased water consumption dramatically. My question is whether I should drink any soda at all? Would it be acceptable to have some every once and a while? Am I overthinking this?
Avatar f tn I wouldn't drink any. Soda and diet soda is bad for you whether you are pregnant or not.

Avatar f tn POP is HORRIBLE for dieting. Reqular pop has over 20 grams of sugar in 1 can and just as many grams of carbohydrates! In order to loose weight you have to cut back sugar and carbs. Diet soda doesn't have sugar or carbs but it has something in it that makes your appetite increase! Just say NO to pop! You will be glad you did!
1816818 tn?1316931690 the doctor said that there is high risk for kidney disease. pls can you say how can we reduce the serum urea level through diet or anyother way? is there any chance to reduce serum urea?
Avatar f tn If it is not diet soda, that is one heck of a sugar load. I think it is the equivalent to 12 teaspoons of sugar in a 12-ounce can. And unfortunately, if it is diet soda, it is loaded with chemicals. Hate to say it because the sugar gives you a higher diabetes risk and a higher risk that your child will later on develop diabetes, and the chemicals are just nasty for you. Can you taper off by cutting the soda in half with sparkling water?
Avatar m tn my husband was told he has type 2 diabetes and his kidneys are only functioning at 50%. He was told to stop drinking soda and diet soda and drink a lot of water. What can be causing this? He is 63 yrs old and has been taking blood pressure. coloeteral medication along with a diuretic. Should he have ultra sound done to see if there is another problem creating this problem?
Avatar m tn kidneys work hard to balance ph if you do this by baking soda they have much less work to do.
Avatar f tn No its definitly the asparteme that is bad, but thats the reason you should never drink diet soda. Asparteme is pure poison. Just do your research on it. Also watch out for pedialite for babies they started putting that crap in there too. Your much better off with a sugary soda then that stuff. You want to take it easy on the caffeine too, but I would definitly worry more about the asparteme then anything.
5898681 tn?1392221010 Diet soda is a no no during pregnancy. It has aspartame in it. My dr said no artificial sweeteners!
528943 tn?1212971700 April 18, 2008, I visited a nephrologist who indicated that I have a chronic kidney illness that will need to be monitored. I completed some lab work recently and will be at the doctor's office in mid-July. I asked the doctor that if I drank a soda, then would coke or mountain dew be better. He said that coke is NOT good for the kidneys. I seem to be drinking a large amount of sun tea--or iced tea. Should I choose a healthier beverage when I am thirsty?
