I have a 16 week old boxer who has been diagnosed with renal failure (most likely congenital). He is now on the Science Hill R/D diet (1 can wet with a 1/2c dry mixed in, 2x daily), pepcid once a day and a phosphorus blocker. We are doing sub-q fluids at home, 300ml every other day. He is now very active, eating well, peeing & pooping well, just not drinking much. My question is this...

I have Wegener's and need to be on low pot. diet I need to know what I can eat everything I find is what is high in pot. But nothing on what I can eat.

I am on a 2000 mgs sodium diet. I am having a hard time finding low sodium foods like corn muffin mix, taco seasoning etc. I was wondering if anyone had found a place to but such things.

This article has taken a long time to devise, research and prepare ... but it's now available to the Group, I'm pleased to say. There are 10 recipes here, including two treat recipes. One word of caution ... if you have a dog that has pancreatitis, don't use these recipes, as they are high fat/meat content. Always check with your vet beforehand. Does anyone know if there is a vitamin that exists that is low/no sugar added and how to get it? My vet says chicken breast is best, but the info I see on the web for home recipes are calling for dark meat chicken. I am also trying to figure out if rice cakes (unflavored) are good or bad. I also see that white rice is often recommended, but when I read the label I see that it is often enriched with ferros phosphate. I am in a constant state of thinking I'm giving her the wrong things. Metacoplarmine is a medication given to felines in renal failure. Was your cat/s tested and diagnosed for any other illnesses, like FeL, Calcivirus or FIP? I'd keep your cat on a high protein, totally grain free holistic diet. But if you're still using kmr and you're getting hard stools...are you still using KMR? What are you feeding the kitten at the moment?

Make sure that you eat sensibly - a proper nutritional and well balanced diet that consists of fresh fruit and vegetables and lots of water. Getting dehydrated can also cause dizziness. You can still lose weight by eating healthily without calorie counting and by making good choices of food to eat. For example boiled potatoes instead of fries; a piece of fruit instead of a chocolate bar. Also reducing your portion sizes will help too.

It can both be triggered and made significantly worse by high fat content in the diet, which you probably know by now. The best approach is therefore to keep fats to a minimum, at least until the pancreatitis has been resolved, after which time you can re-introduce small amounts of fat - keeping a watch on blood levels to see if it flares up again. i have a weimeraner i have had endless trouble with her diet and finally have found something, i was making fresh chicken for her which proved very time consuming and expensive then i found frozen meats, they come in blocks of 400g chicken, beef, lamb, fish, tripe, they have to be cooked but i jus bang it in the microwave for 6 mins let it cool simple as that. i mix it with a handful of vitalin.

There are many diet plans for diabetics, but the ones that work best are usually custom-made for individuals, tailored to their specific needs by their nutritionist/dietitian. Was the diet plan your doctor gave you created with your input and have you discussed your concerns with him?

we humans weigh a great deal more and can absorb the high mercury content of canned tuna a cat CANNOT....please buy your kitty some canned CAT food. and not human food as this doesn't fulfil their nutritional needs either, your kitty will soon become very ill.
