Avatar n tn Hi, I found a link recently which was discussing research on the impact of high protein diets on subjects with and without kidney disease. They concluded that high protein did not cause kidney disease, and neither did it cause most kidney disease to deteriorate.. I will post the link if I can find it again. Controlling BG levels is essential to preventing kidney complications, and has been shown to reverse disease in many cases.
Avatar f tn Eat less carbs and high protein, healthy fat, limit your soda intake and drink plenty of water, green tea is proven to boost your metabolism but does not cause weight loss, drink 2/3 8oz cups a day, do not drink more than 3 cups for daily caffeine intake. Stay away from sugar, if possible use a sugar substitute and eat exact serving sizes, I've been using measureing cups.
Avatar f tn Eat lots of veggies, one portion of fruit only, one handful of raw nuts, low fat dairy, high fat fish, lean meat. The increase in protein will keep you from getting hungry and on the long term completely abolish any cravings. Also, no deep frying, no butter, but olive oil and canola instead. No more rice, pasta, potatoes, flour.... My Dad eats that way for 5 yearsby now, is very healthy and lost 30 kgs during the first year. Good luck!
19087390 tn?1474306677 Try meals high in protein. That'll help curve your appetite and you won't feel hungry. Plus protein for baby is always good.
Avatar n tn The best diet is one that incorporates lots of fresh/frozen veggies, lean protein such as meat, eggs, dairy and legumes, healthy fats such as avocados, olive and coconut oils, nuts and seeds, along with a serving or two of fruit/day. Most vegetables have so few calories that you can eat as much as you want of them, without worrying about eating too much. Keep your meat servings to about the size of a deck of cards. Add olive or coconut oil for seasoning or to cook with.
Avatar f tn Protein is an essential part of your diet and if you are skipping meat then you should try something like tofu or similar non vegetarian protein food to aid in your weight loss. Not only protein can curb your hunger but also can help you build muscles ( if you are working out) to burn more calories.
1277082 tn?1344057820 Bread: whole grain, high fiber. Anything high fiber (yes it is more calories) works to your advantage, because it will make your body feel more full...in theroy to eat less during the day. Pasta: whole grain, or something like Barilla Plus or Ronzoni Smart taste w/ fiber. Stick with your 2 ounces (about a cup cooked) and mix in veggies or lean chicken. Rice: whole grain, stick to serving size and mix in veggies to feel more full. Meat: lean, chicken, beef is OK, turkey, fish.
Avatar f tn Also avoid all food high in calories and include plenty of high fiber diet. Avoid all fried food, fatty red meat, whole milk dairy products and highly processed food. Include plenty of fresh fruits, high fiber vegetables, whole grains, lean meat and low fat dairy products. This could reduce your symptoms of pain and gallstone formation. Regards.
Avatar n tn If you have time to go to the gym to do weights, throw in some cardio -- something you can handle, don't start at too high a level. Paleo is fine for some people, but it isn't really one diet -- there are many forms of the so-called Paleo diet and it isn't really Paleo -- nobody ever ate this way.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of any apps that has a good variety of healthy & nutritious - diet meal ideas/ recipes? Preferably one that gives breakfast, lunch, dinner, & snacks :) thank you!
Avatar f tn My dog was perfectly fine with SLIGHT high BUN (35-38). I put her on the NF diet in an effort to keep the kidney disease at bay, and suddenly her pancreatitis went crazy! She got very ill and didn't want to eat. I tried to put her back on her old food to get her back to normal, but it was too late. She's been hospitalized for four days. Her BUN/Creat "stabilized" at 116/6.7.
1423357 tn?1511085442 ) My daughter also likes the orange puree mixed in her pasta and red sauce. I think she'd love sweet mashed potatoes, but she is stubbornly resisting them, so I don't push it.
467897 tn?1240251837 I am aware of low proteins, but need to know about dairy, pasta, fresh fruits & veggies - I really need some guidelines so I can feed this poor body as good as possible. I do cook for myself, but due to the fatigue meals often come frozen in a box (you know microwavable "healthier eats"). But please, anyone out there that can recommend foods, recipes, basics???? Maybe someone is aware of a site, or maybe an old forum topic, I am willing to listen to good suggestions.
Avatar f tn on the weekends maybe only 2 meals a day. I have recently begun drinking protein shakes with a combination of rice/hemp/whey protein. I am lactose-intolerant, so can only drink rice or almond milk, and not a vegetarian. I also work in the herb dept. at an Ayurvedic alternative health clinic. My coworker, who is an herbalist, recommended the protein shakes to me, along with some dietary suggestions. I am trying to eat more pancakes, but I don't always have time to make them.
Avatar n tn It might help you lose weight, depending on how small the portions are, but it's not healthy... You aren't eating anything that has protein, at all and what you're eating has very few vitamins/minerals, like B-12, calcium, etc. You need to add some type of meat, dairy, eggs, beans, legumes or something with protein and since vitamin B-12 only comes from animal products you either need to supplement or add some of those animal products to your diet.
Avatar n tn I hope you mean you are 187 and trying to lose weight instead of 87 lbs? Only a child should weight 87 pounds. Even if you are 4'11-5'0, you should weigh at least 100 pounds. If you are looking to eat healthy: look up recipes for fatty liver disease. It's pretty much a vegan diet plus protein (tofu, turkey, or chicken). No dairy except for non fat plain all natural greek yogurt. Google recipes made with greek yogurt.
Avatar f tn m at a loss on the correct proportions, cooked vs raw, 50/50 ratio protein to veggies etc. I know that it should be a high quality protein, low phosphorus diet, any advise would be greatly appreciated!! Also any input on his numbers would be great, from everything I read I know they are really high, but does that necessarily correlate with a shorter survival period?

1943833 tn?1349276589 a protein restricted diet, received all the necessary nutrition for a healthy life. While your puppy will not have the same muscle mass as other dogs, I am confident the renal disease can be best kept in check through K/D. I am happy to hear that you are so concerned that you would consider taking time out of your schedule to cook for him, but a commercially prepared food is best.
Avatar n tn So? Most humans live mostly on carbs. The healthiest societies eat little meat. Bodybuilders are the unhealthiest eaters around, though they do get big muscles, because they eat too much protein, causing later in life kidney and liver problems. The healthiest foods are carbs, meaning dark green leafy vegetables. There are people who do best on high protein diets, such as plains Indians and Inuits; give them grains and they get what they have now, which are high rates of diabetes.
Avatar n tn Has any one else been placed on a low sodium diet by their baby doctor? I was told I have high blood pressure and just as a caution I should go on a low sodium diet. So I've been Googling recipes and things but I'm not finding to many. Does any one has some advice about the diet or some amazing recipes? That would be amazing!!
Avatar f tn s it and I know that my dog is not getting enough nutrients from this diet. She was diagnosed in May of 2006 at the age of 5. She gets 3 units of HUMULIN N twice a day. Her last Frutosomine test was on the high side, "490" but her vet said that there is no need for concern. Please help me with some diet ideas.
Avatar f tn I typically run high protein and have perfect uneventful pregnancies otherwise. (Just delivered Thurs). There can be many factors, but for me it was just my diet. In general I am a big meat, bean, all around protein eater and my body stores it longer, or digests it slower. So they will just watch and make sure it isnt something else causing it and if it levels out they'll make sure it isnt causing any other issues.
1464587 tn?1307491605 or none if you can, good proteins and high fiber. A couple people refered to it like the atkins diet, since atkins seems to I think concentrate on meats (proteins), low fats, and little to no carbs. And thank you soooo much jackie on that chocolate refernce!! I will so look for it the next time I'm at the store =D And the meat I have is very little, just once a day, and half the portion of my veggies =) and it is very lean.... maybe 2 grams of fat per night. And as far as the egg whites..
377493 tn?1356502149 He finally seems to be over it and my pediatrician has him on a high calorie diet. The list she has given me is not very extensive and I am having trouble finding good meal suggestions on line. Obviously a well balanced and nutritious diet is still very important. Anyone have any good suggestions for meals for me? He likes pretty much everything I give him, but I think he is getting sick of all the stews I am making. And everything I find on line seems to be full of sugar.
