You probably know that losing weight quickly usually means you gain it back later because it means you have to do something fairly extreme rather than make lasting changes to your diet and how much you exercise. Slow weight loss stays off, quick usually doesn't.

Exercise is a way of life that brings your body to good health while losing weight or mantaining weight. 1-2 lbs is a reasonable weight loss goal per week not much more. Remember 1 lbs of fat is 3500 calories so you will have to burn that much calories in order to lose just 1 lb of fat. Be patient is it happens slowly.

Avatar n tn Diet pills, injections, "quick fixes"...none of these really work, and some are downright dangerous. You have to really, really work at weight loss. It takes dedication, education about proper nutrition, support, exercise, and a plan that you can live with for life. Or, just take some pills that may work for a few weeks or months, and then regain it all plus some. You choose.

Avatar n tn Hi, I just wanted to also add this-- from my experience. If any weight loss regime you take on is not something you can sustain for the long term day to day, it's not worth it. You will just gain the weight back. You have to look at long term things you can do and live with. Examples, I cut back on sugar and added in much healthier choices that I like. I have one cheat day a week where I can have my sugary snacks if I want them. This works for me and has for a very long time.

I'm not real familiar with this disease, but I know with medication and a good diet they can still have some good years. there was an excellent site that I always refer everyone too....but for some reason I now see its down. This of course also has its negative sides, many of my friends, being on the same diet as me, got quite a lot of health problems, mainly with the kidneys.
