616450 tn?1228433627 Folks, I talked to my endocrinologist about the way certain foods seem to affect my thyroid. She said nothing I eat can help or hurt my thyroid, but I could swear I feel it almost HURT about a half hour after I eat a lot of dairy. Also, if I eat something like Sun Chips--or any thing else with a lot of enriched wheat flour, etc.--I feel it as well along with a "pumped up" feeling. I read some about it online, but the endo claims it doesn't have much to do with my diet.
Avatar f tn m having to go to get my blood drawn twice a week and they put me on a diet where i can barely eat anything. Is there anyone else that is going through this or had it I the past? If so how long did you have to get the twice a week blood draws and did diet alone help or did they give you pills or insulin shots. also does anyone have any good ideas for meals?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately there is no perfect diet and there no perfect diet for diabetes. But avoiding simple carbs is good for everyone. A BG meter is a good tool to use. Check out everything. Even beans. Yes some people have a very large and long lasting spike on beans, even though books suggest it as a good choice. Supplements can help some people. If you want to go in that direction consider things like chromium, they help some people control BG.

Avatar n tn There are diabetic education classes all around and scads of book and just try Googling "diabetes diet" for something sensible like a day or two of meal plans. The big thing is carbohydrate counting so get a carb book. If he takes Humalog insulin, dose would be 1 unit per 10 grams carb. If not, you must watch the simple sugars carefully. Small amounts of fruit are okay and larger amounts can be tolerated after eating protein.
Avatar m tn to stablize the blood sugar, I always try to LOWER my carb intake.Period, the other way around, to me, is dead wrong. The other half of my diabetic journey is that I am using a herb that I have discovered and developed so effective enough for me to steadily lower my blood glucose A1C to 5.6% , taken 12.28.11. So effective enough to eliminate my diabetic nerve complications: Leg pains. My "T cell" is dramatically improved.
Avatar f tn s thyroiditis and was wondering if anyone knows of any good books about the condition. From reading posts it seems like diet and other things can affect thyroid. Still searching for a doctor who will address my symptoms despite my "normal" values. Until then I want/need to do what I can to feel better. Any book recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
