Avatar m tn Well, I have recently taken medication for a candida infection of the mouth (an oral-thrush type thing), but the side effects of don't mention constipation on the leaflet. Besides, it started after I stopped taking the medication. I have also noticed undigested food in my stools, could it be a gut thing? The earliest I can make an appointment to see a GP, is Wednesday, so I guess I'll have to go get some form of laxative until then :( . Thanks for the reply.
Avatar m tn I've been quite constipated for about 3 days now. I've been passing small amounts of stool daily but with great effort. At times only a mucus discharge will escape. Today I tried taking a laxative which worked to some degree. There was however blood in the stool and the mucus. Also I'm still constipated afterwards. This isn't at all normal for me so i'm a bit concerned. Any Ideas as to what is going on?
Avatar f tn Hey ladies, I'm having some issues. I've been constipated for about a week. My doctor doesn't really want me to take anything until after she sees me for my 8 week checkup. Do you ladies have any ideas for something I can take thats all natural and won't affect the baby. I'm all ears. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn But then, you could try the intro diet for the special carbohydrate diet for a few days, then go onto the complete diet, and if it works, you might be able to save your colon. And if not...what else do you have to loose? Good luck!
Avatar f tn going on 10 weeks and constipation is kicking my butt anyone experiencing this and what can I do ????
Avatar n tn Since my gyno continues to tell me my gas, bloating, constant BMs and lower left-sided pelvic pain is NOT related to my ovarian cysts, she sent me to a gastroenterologist. I had a CT scan yesterday that only showed my IUD and "bilateral prominent ovaries". I briefly spoke with the GI doctor who said this could be due to my menstrual cycle. Since having the IUD, I have not had a period now in over a year. And he did say "prominent" meant "enlarged". So.....
Avatar m tn I would recommend a sitsmarker test to see how your motility is. I also think that an abdominal CT scan would be a good idea. I personally believe that removing the colon is the last resort for constipation so I'm going to suggest a couple different ideas. First, try a really low fiber diet. Usually people with constipation need a high fiber diet, but occationally this will actually make things worse.
Avatar f tn Can anyone share their thoughts about continued constipation after total colectomy -- removal of the colon with no bag. The surgery went perfectly; the recovery was hospitalization for 17 days with tube down the nose into the stomach to remove bile; and little food and virtually no bowel movements. Since discharge the bowel movements have been rare. Any ideas on how long it will take or types of diet would be helpful. Thank you all.

My son has constipation and he will use a stool softener or laxative like once a week. It really helps him. Probiotics help. Knowing stress triggers and avoiding or at least managing them will help. Let me know how you are doing!
Avatar f tn Hi everyone I'm 9 weeks pregnant and I've been suffering terrible with constipation. Has anyone got any ideas what to do to shift it without laxatives?
Avatar n tn Having never personally given a cat a barium enema, I just don't know about what you do or don't see in it (something I hope to never change!!!) :). As far as diet, is kitty eating lots of dry, and little or no wet? A healthy cat will develop these problems do to insufficient water intake, and cats got almost 90% of their liquid intake from food. So I'd advise pulling kitty off the dry, and trying to stick to wet food. You may have to experiment with brand flavor.
Avatar f tn I'm having a hard time going #2 does anybody have any ideas on sum thing to take or do to help with that?

Avatar f tn Hi I am a Hashimoto's Thyroiditis sufferer and I am on a course of levothyroxine. My diet has improved a lot and I've been drinking more water, however my constipation has become worse. I've been advised to see my doctor if the constipation has gotten worse despite me eating better, drinking more water and taking my medication as instructed but this is all happening when I'm out of the city. I'm currently on holiday.
Avatar m tn t see that you had posted twice so I answered your other post too. For the constipation you could try a diet to help it (high in fiber, lots of fruits and vegetables, and lots of water).
Avatar f tn I have had two miscarriages over this time. After the first one, I gained about 15 pounds (unable to lose with diet and exercise), have had increased bloating, constipation, headaches, stomache pain, pms, fatigue, dry, itchy skin, and irritability. I have been to several medical doctors and naturopaths, and been tested for hypothyroid, food allergies, celiac disease, and polycystic ovarian disease.

Avatar f tn I would try switching your prenatals in addition to adding more dones in your diet. Once I switched prenatal brands, my constipation got a lot better. I use rainbow light brand now.
Avatar f tn I've always been someone who leaned more towards constipation. When I was younger I remember not going for 3-6 days and then when I did go it was generally because I ate too much unhealthy food and it was accompanied by awful stomach cramps. I am unable to go on my own at all anymore and I'm only 18. I hope there is someone who can help to clarify things for me and give me some hope that I can make things better.
Avatar f tn hello. m facing constipation from last 3 4 yrs.have done many efforts like yoga exercise, mornbothrry ing walk ,fiber intake, drink lots of water...etc.but now m very bothered.just want to know it might be any poolroblem in my instestine.i got one time stool pass once in a week.pl give me a hope.
Avatar m tn were you taking the probiotics while you were taking the antibiotics? Or did you start probiotics afterwards? i doubt the probiotics are causing constipation. My guess would be that the real problem is the antibiotics and the diarrhea they caused. You could also have a yeast overgrowth causing the constipation as well. Antibiotics kill off the good bacteria (as well as the bad) which protect the body against things like yeast becoming overgrown in our gut.
Avatar m tn m a 17 year old male and about 5 weeks ago I posted on this site talking about some bowel problems I was having. Conclusion was that I probably had constipation and that I needed to drink more water. Since then I have been drinking more water and the constipation stopped almost immediately, however I still have a bloated feeling in my lower abdomen, about an inch below my navel.
Avatar n tn Have you tried a very high fibre diet as a way of conquering your constipation naturally? For example, several times per day drink pulverised raw fruit and at other times, pulverised raw vegetables to which organic bran has been added. Also as a breakfast cereal make home-made muesli (organic oats + bran soaked in milk, add grated apple/fruit/nuts and lemon juice so that the whole mixture looks like wet cement). Avoid all processed foods - eat organic wholemeal bread etc.
