Avatar f tn I am a young female with PCOS. The initial complaint that I brought to my doctor was experiencing hair growth on my face, excess hair growth on my arms/legs/bikini, and hair loss on my head. I've since begun laser hair removal on my face and arms, but I am about 4 treatments in (24 wks) and am not noticing results. It is becoming more and more difficult to hold my head high- many days I don't even want to be seen in public.
Avatar m tn Hi, Hair growth is affected by several factors including genetics, hormones, environment and diet. In your case, as one grows, the hair undergoes several phases of hair growth. Through these phases, several factors lead to changes in the rate of growth and appearance. In your family, is brownish or light colored hair more predominant? Have you been taking any supplement or medications? Diet may play a role in hair growth and development.
Avatar f tn Telogen effluvium during medications are common, but hair growth is replenished in time. The thing to look out is Iron deficiency, and hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn Maybe this will help: conditioner should help thin and smooth down the hair a bit. (Actually, it's common to use hair conditioner on pubes because it makes them thinner and easier to shave).
1208452 tn?1266336929 I also use medical marijuana for anxiety and both of those things have hair growth as a side effect. Do you use either of these things? I am thinking at your age you may very well be on birth control, but I don't know if you are. You might want to just step back and look at the whole picture, what has changed since the hair growth? Usually it is hormone related, so if you aren't taking birth control it may also be genetic. Do the women in your family have a similar problem?
Avatar n tn There are many other reasons that could explain your inability to gain muscle despite exercise and diet; the type of exercise you are doing, the type of diet you eat, and your body may not be responding if you continue the same diet and exercise plan for an extended period. Consult a nutritionist or personal trainer at your gym for specific recommendations on how you could change your routine and see if that may help.
Avatar f tn Hello, Until or unless the hair follicles have been damaged, they will grow back. To promote growth of eyebrows, just eat a healthy protein rich diet and take some multivitamin supplements for some days. The most important nutrients are biotin, silica, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, and vitamin B6. There are many eyebrow growth products in the market, but their efficacy has not been scientifically proven. Finally one can resort of hair transplantation also. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Excessive hair growth may need to be dealt with in consultation with a dermatologist; while for weight loss, it is important to strike the right balance between the diet and the exercise. For best results, along with the medications; it is advised to follow a diet plan and rotate between various physical activities such as running/ jogging, gymming, swimming, yoga, aerobics, pilates etc. Hope this is helpful.

Avatar f tn It's normal for these things to start happening following menopause due to testosterone. You can get help with this, however, by visiting a doctor and being prescribed certain hormones.
Avatar f tn It may even lower your testosterone, which is the hormone responsible for the unwanted hair growth. If hormonal treatment--like birth control--does not seem to work, or only helps get rid of one or two of your symptoms, you may have to do things the old-fashioned way; namely, getting rid of unwanted hair by waxing it and losing weight by getting on a solid exercise schedule.

Avatar f tn Depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy will you notice a difference. The prenatal vitamins they say help with hair growth, however I believe its more hormonal changes within you. When you notice your hair growing you will also notice your nails growing faster than usual. I have been taking prenatal vitamins for only 3-4 wks... I would say its more hormonal changes than the vitamins, for myself atleast.

Avatar f tn If you take prenatal vitamins they are rich in folic acid and B vitamins which are great for your baby and have a side effect of increasing your hair growth rate as well as its thickness. Also they will increase the growth rate of your fingernails and skin cells. Many women who are not pregnant take prenatal vitamins to help with thinning hair, weak fingernails, or skin problems.
7136384 tn?1390142888 s because of your prenatal vitamins. They help hair and nail growth. And the idea about it being a boy because you have a lot of extra hair, could be true. Before I got pregnant I just had peach fuzz on my tummy and now it looks darker and longer, and I'm having a boy. But yet again, I shave my arm pits and legs a lot more than usual. Also your pubic hair will probably begin to grow so much you can't keep up with it.
