Common Questions and Answers about Diet energy calories

Avatar n tn t all created equal, and calories are not your best source of tracking weight. Calories are one factor, but how well and how quickly you metabolize your food into sugar for energy is more determinative, as foods that turn quickly into sugar have to be burned off quickly or they store quickly as fat. A piece of white bread will do that very fast, but it won't have as many calories as a piece of salmon but you won't get fat eating salmon.
Female Hi there, The calorie content of energy bars usually range from as few as 95 calories up to nearly 500 calories. Energy bars for weight gain do contain fats and carbohydrates in large amount .These bars can never compete a healthy nutritious diet. Consult a doctor before taking these energy bars. For both weight gain and weight loss diet and exercise play a very important role. Consult a nutrition expert. Do keep us posted. Best of luck and regards!
Avatar f tn No, you should not have to be hungry all the time while dieting. I agree with tamaroo, young teens are still growing and developing and it's necessary to get enough calories and nutrients to develop properly and be healthy. You can't just pick a number of calories to eat every day. Your body has to have so many calories every day, just to stay alive, depending on your current size. You need to figure out how many calories/day you need.
Avatar f tn Look up your height, age and gender calorie requirements. Calories are a unit of energy and you need them to properly function during the day (and live). Shortcuts do not work and can result in gaining more weight after a "diet". 500 calories a day is unrealistic and unhealthy, a large banana has 121 calories and is the type sold in most grocery stores.
Avatar n tn I had good luck with the 17 Day Diet...one downfall...the lack of carbohydrates during the 1st phase really saps your energy.
Avatar n tn to do that, you have to consume your 2800 calories everyday. energy input means any item containing calories which you take in and energy output means your energy consumption. try to search on line for energy consumption of physical activities. remember: excess/ unused calories would mean stored energy which may lead to stored fat and obviously you will gain weight.
976897 tn?1379167602 This is thought to be for making us more intelligent to find more food. So, how does the diet work. I will be trying the 5-2 diet, 5 days normal eating, 2 days diet. This has worked in many trials, lowing cholesterol, blood pressure, growth factors. It puts the cells into high repair mode and makes your body more youthful, not in looks, but in reaction times etc. Your major organs become more healthy. It also causes lots of body fat to be consumed.
Avatar f tn 435 calories a day to me this is impossible how am I mean to function properly with so little calories everyday and work an 11 hours per day were am I meant to get the energy from Plz help :-(
Dog You may be eating too many calories each day, or the wrong types of calories. If you eat a lot of sugary they will tend to break down quickly, and if not used right away will be stored as fat. Or possibly you need to change up your exercise program, increase intensity, etc.
Avatar m tn You need to eat more calories than the amount that you burn. Every calorie that you eat above that what you burn will eventually be converted into fat and stored in your body. (regardless if these calories come from protein, fat, carbohydrates or alcohol) 1 kilogram of fat is about 10.000 kCalories so if you daily eat 500kCals more than you burn you will gain a kilo every 3 weeks. remarks: -you will not gain much energy with a few extra kilo's of fat unless you are currently underweight.
Avatar f tn The last phase consists of intense work-out schedule and hence the calorie requirement rises and needs to be substituted with a high calorie/ carbohydrate intake (athletes diet), to provide the energy. If you are able to keep up with the work out schedule, you may take on the diet as well, since this would be required. However otherwise you may have to limit the carbohydrate intake. Hope this helps. Take care!
219363 tn?1189755821 I have recently started a low carbohydrate diet with calories maybe 1500-1800 daily and 20 carbs maximum. My intake consists of vegetables, lean beef, chicken, pork and fish. I also eat eggs and 4 oz of cheese daily. I am losing weight on this plan. I had a headache at first, but it has gone away. I have more energy and sleep better, and have less aches and pains. I have lost 9 lbs, and want to lose about 30 lbs more. Is this safe and should I worry about any supplements.
Avatar n tn prichard16 - yes, the types of calories makes a difference. While I agree with caregiver222, that 1000 calories is 1000 calories; if you make that 1000 calories a mix of fruits, veggies, dairy, lean meats, nuts, etc --- you will be much healthier and more likely to lose weight than if you get that 1000 calories from 5 candy bars (200 calories/each) throughout the day........... there's a huge difference........
Avatar f tn ” The “calorie is not a calorie” theory has been further substantiated by a recent JAMA study showing that a “low fat” diet resulted in the greatest decrease in energy expenditure, an unhealthy lipid pattern, and increased insulin resistance in comparison with a low carbohydrate and low glycaemic index diet.
Avatar f tn I don't think a diet with less than 1000 calories is healthy. Maybe you should just try eating at least 5 or 6 times a day with small portions and remember to exercise, drink plenty of water and try and lose weight slowly. If you lose it too fast, sometimes you gain it all back and then some. Try eating in moderation; I hate to use the word "diet" cause it makes you feel like you are depriving yourself of something.
Avatar f tn I wanted to be at a comfortable weight and since I study nutrition I decided to create my own diet. I lost a healthy amount of weight and still had a lot of energy to exercise. I suggest sticking to a high protein diet and limiting the amount of carbohydrates you eat. Carbohydrates, fats and proteins are all digested in a particular order and knowing this order is the key to any weight loss.
Avatar f tn I also learned to break a bad habit I had before the diet which was snacking all the time from stress, boredom and trying to get more energy. So tackling the stressors, finding good activities, learning about energy giving snacks at low caloric and small portions has been helpful. Good luck.
644592 tn?1226588817 I have been focusing more on low carbs than calories but my wife things I should be looking at my calories more. What is your opinion and tell me what you have more sucess at.
1179375 tn?1296662480 Hey Nicky, It's definitely challenging to keep up with a specific diet while the rest of the family goes along their merry way, eating whatever they please. But you're right, with a little creativity and portion control, you can modify your meals to suit your needs. Your calorie range is good. So are your diet choices. But you might find yourself more satisfied having adequate protein at every meal, especially breakfast.
Avatar f tn Yes like Skailark said, 572 calories is WAY too low. That's essentially starving yourself so no, you definitely cannot eat that little. I think you should focus more on eating *real* food rather than worrying about how to consume virtually no fat. Certain fats are good for you and necessary for good health.
Avatar m tn Limit fruit to 3 servings/day because it tend to have a lot of sugar and if not used right away, turns to fat. Try to center your meals around vegetables, because they have a lot of nutrients and fiber for very few calories. Also stick to low/no fat dairy, lean meats, good fats (such as avocado, olive oil, etc). Nuts and seeds are a good addition, because of the nutrients, but limit them because of the fat, even though it's "good" fat.
