The reason for such allergy is cross reactivity which is seen in this class of drugs.
However tylenol with codeine (tylenol 3) is as effective as the nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents like ibuprofen and diclofenac. The therapy may have to be personalised also. You could start with ibuprofen, and if not completely effective, you may try tylenol 3.

My 59 year old husband, Hep C+ diagnosed in 2007, F-4 Cirrhosis diagnosed in 2010, compensated liver (last blood work was in July, 2012, and he has never had ascites, varices, or hepatic encephalopathy), and failed three Hep C treatments in past 5 years (last failure was triple tx w/Incivek stopped treatment mid-April, 2012 due to viral breakthrough), not currently on treatment.

I have had mitral valve prolapse w/minor twinges of chest pain for 20 yrs. For 12 years I could not exercise without getting chest pain the next day. Then for the last 10 years I have been able to exercise with no problems. Then I had knee pain & was put on a 14 day dose of Diclofenac Sodium. After 10 days, I got chest pains for 2 days. Is anyone on Diclofenac? I am on it for an orthopedic condition and have been on it almost 4 weeks. It works, but am unsure how long I will be on it. As short a time as possible, I hope,...but, I was wondering....for those with arthritis (which it usually prescribed for,,).....are you on it daily? As an ongoing medication? I hope to go off it to avoid risks with prolonged usage,but up to now...it has not caused me any problems.
i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
t know what my problem is but he prescribed me with diclofenac and prochlorperazine. The doctor also mentioned that my tonsil is swollen, which is weird coz I didn't feel any pain or sorethroat.
Both the medication did not relief my headache/tinnitus and to make it worse, I have been having problem sleeping ever since I'm taking those medication (diclofenac/prochlorperazine). The headache continues, so as the tinnitus and it is wearing me off.
