There are other NSAIDS other than diclofenac that can be used in the treatment of gout. These include indomethacin and naproxen. Even paracetamol (acetaminophen) can provide pain relief in a gout attack.
If your father has been prescribed a medication called dutasteride for treatment of the BPH, it is possible that the diclofenac was interacting with it and leading to his problems with urination.
Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.

I had my gp check it out, she said probably arthritis and put me on diclofenac. By March the pain turned into horrific pain attacks, lasting a few secs at a time. By the end of march i got sent home from work and was told go to a podiatrist(by my boss). The first one i went to swore i was an alcohol and red meat kind of girl and said it was gout. He sent me home with an anti inflammatory and said keep the joint warm and eat cherries. By May I was getting a 2nd opinion.
Hi, at this age the cause of knee pain are arthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, bursitis etc. As you don't have history of recent trauma, it is unlikely to be ligament or meniscus tear.
Investigations like MRI, blood tests like ESR, RF, ANA etc are done to find out causes related to autoimmune diseases. Try cold compression, crepe bandage and pain killers like diclofenac etc.
ve had a foot problem for past month that podiatrist has been treating as gout but it has not gotten any better. Problem started with a patch of red, painful to the touch, just underneath the two toes after the big toe on left foot. It went from red to black and blue in middle surrounded by red skin. It is painful, stinging pain and bone pain and stiffness in two toes. I've had the foot swell up, twice, which eventually went away upon taking diclofenac and colcrys.
i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Is anyone on Diclofenac? I am on it for an orthopedic condition and have been on it almost 4 weeks. It works, but am unsure how long I will be on it. As short a time as possible, I hope,...but, I was wondering....for those with arthritis (which it usually prescribed for,,).....are you on it daily? As an ongoing medication? I hope to go off it to avoid risks with prolonged usage,but up to now...it has not caused me any problems.
I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.
0 or over for the past two years, causing no problems until now, I am getting gout. I have been on Allopurinol and had two rounds of steroids and within three days of being off the steroids my gout returns. I don't drink, or eat a much meat and have increased my vitamin C to 1500 mg a day, is there anything else I can do?
I having been having problems with pain in my foot, its really bad and when it happens I can't walk. it really seems like gout but I am a vegetarian, I have been avoiding legumes and other foods known to cause gout, I do not drink beer, could there be other causes or could it be a different condition? I have reoccurance of Gout every time I eat liver, liverwurst, cabage or spinach. I personally do not know about other drugs.
Woke up with bad case of gout. I have not been taking my Allopurinol. If I start it back up today do you think it will help with the gout pain and inflammation? I am taking Ibuprophen and soaking in epsom salts/hot water.
I was recently diagnosed with gout and although I do have pain in my big toe (mainly left, but also some in right), I'm having more trouble with my fingers - they are where the pain is worst and where I've got some tophi. How common/uncommon is it to have gout more in the fingers than the toe? I know it can affect other joints other than teh big toe, but just not sure how common it is and if it makes it any more difficutl to treat?
