Avatar n tn Have been perscribed Diclofenac (the generic for Voltaren), an anti-inflammatory drug for my back problem. Has anyone any experience with this drug? Or any knowledge whether anti-inflammatory drugs, in general, can cause palpitations or AFIB? Any feedback would be appreciated...thanks!
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar m tn The FDA just announced that dicoflenac gel (brand name Voltaren Gel) often prescribed for arthritis pain is linked to severe liver damage and it can happen within the first month of use According to the FDA, this topical gel has been reported to cause liver necrosis (death of liver cells), jaundice, and liver failure some cases of which have required liver transplant and some that have been fatal! Despite these horrible side effects, dicoflenac gel remains on the market.
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar m tn You can also google 'diclofenac and liver'. I have found an articles saying the following: Data collected by the FDA shows that diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), has caused serious liver toxicity and liver failure in some patients.
975514 tn?1324997938 Has anyone here developed vitreous floaters in their eyes while taking the medication Voltaren (Diclofenac)? I have developed some in my left eye. On the marketing material it states that some people taking the medication have been known to have developed floaters, but it wasn't during the drug trials and it was less than 1% of the people taking it.

880900 tn?1467270141 Hi folks! Have any of you used Diclofenac or Voltarin Gel for relief from general pain on thighs, etc.(and other large areas ... LOL? What was your experience? Did it actually relieve any of your pain? I've used the tablet form, but it made me sick to my stomach. Is this likely to do the same? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn so it supposed to be good for everything from arthritis to Gout. I take it for pain from a permanent rib injury. It looks like we are about the same age do you mind me asking what you are taking it for? And you are right sometimes they are not very good about telling us that we should not expect results right away and it may take a few weeks for certain meds to work well. Let me know how you do. I am doing well so far but like I said it took a couple of weeks.
Avatar f tn My rheumatologist has prescribed Voltaren for my arthritis pain..I have tried many other anti infams and have also had the full series of epidural spinal injections and full series of Suprytz knee injections...I had protein level blood testing to rule out polymyalgia rheumattica ( which it did ) ...I am a 67 year old female and up until one year ago have been vey active and looking forward to do a lot of traveling in the next few years....
Avatar m tn You are already under treatment. I am sure you will be ok as all other tests are negative.Ant inflamatory may do the trick.
Avatar f tn I've had pain in my shoulder as a result of workers comp. My ortho says I need to get my rotator cuff shaved down. I've been given carisoprodol (generic soma) but only 20 of them...I've had the bottle now 5 months, they don't help. I still lie awake in pain...and when I use my Enar device it rarely helps. I've used Biofreeze as well...that usually tells my brain to sleep. I've tried stupid mind games to get me off of thinking of the pain ie: comp games, reading, music...
473384 tn?1210206242 I was on the narcs first (for 6 months), added the diclofenac 6 months later so have been on that for 6 months. this past week showed me that the diclofenac is probably helping more than I thought but if you see my other posts you will see that I am having trouble tapering below 60mgs/day OC total.
1524673 tn?1327841500 Cambia is diclofenac, the same thing as Voltaren (a different brand name), and increases risk of heart or circulatory problems, which includes stroke & heart attack. The longer it is taken, the greater the risk. It's recommended if you take this drug and experience things like chest pain, shortness of breath, slurred speech, weakness, or balance or visual problems that you seek emergency professional care.
230262 tn?1316645934 I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. 363110 tn?1340920419 I fell down the stairs 1 day after my son came home from NICU (i didnt have him in my arms then tho!). I had SEVERE pain afterwards and had xrays that showed weakened bones (from the pregnancy), EXTREMELY weak L5 from the fall, mild arthritis and mild scoliosis. During this last pregnancy I was referred to Pain MGMT (I had been on Norco and Soma prior to my pregnancy and it did help my pain but the Soma made me have bad side effects) .

453731 tn?1225199508 You should not take acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) unless your doctor has told you to. NSAIDs include celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. These medicines may affect blood clotting and could cause serious bleeding in your stomach or intestines. Avoid sudden changes in your diet. Vitamin K decreases the effects of Coumadin.
Avatar f tn NSAIDs presently on the market that have been frequently associated with liver injury are aspirin (ASA), diclofenac (Voltaren), and sulindac (Clinoril). Ibuprofen (Motrin) has been reported to cause severe liver injury in people with hepatitis C. It is recommended that people with liver disease avoid using all NSAIDs.
