653169 tn?1303446369 I tried Mobic and Nabumatone and had problems with upset stomach and headache. In addition to Fibromyalgia I also have arthritis in my spine and shoulder, so I take it for that and I can't live without it. Ibuprofen and Naproxen doesn't even touch the inflammation and pain.
Avatar f tn Yes, I do use this medication, however my RA doc has me make it up into a cream and use it topically instead of swallowing them and risking stomach and intestinal damage. Diclofenac is a rather old, but good good antinflamatory NSAID medication that really can ruin your stomach which is why they don't prescribe it much anymore. I know it may sound strange but it works really well.
Avatar f tn Question. I have started taking Diclofenac 75mg x's 2 a day to try and see if a non narcotic medication may give me some relief long term with my rib pain. I have taken it for 2 weeks and at first I didn't think it was helping at all. Now I think 1 of 2 things either A) it's starting to build up in my system and is helping better or B) My ribs just happen to feel a bit better lately.
Avatar n tn i have taken diclofenac for over 20 years with no side effects i have had to come off the tablets 75mg x twice day 4 days ago as I am showing some drying of kidneys from another mediation to ensure it is that one i have come off anything whih might affect me.
Avatar m tn I think I need the strong stuff like diclofenac and B12 and b6. There is a pills called OKA B that I use to take when having muscle pain and it took pains away. But I've heard that diclofenac is not good to take during tx. Has anyone taken diclofenac during tx or is it too bad for the liver.
1204528 tn?1588786333 You are correct. The usual interactions suggest a decrease in levels of the other drugs taken with carbamazepine. Try searching for 'carbamazepine metabolism' and 'diclofenac metabolism'. It shows that both meds are metabolized by CYP3A4. Diclofenac may decrease levels of CYPA4 (search 'diclofenac inactivation CYP3A4); this could potentially lead to increased levels of carbamazepine.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2003. I was prescribed thyroxine, current dose 150mcg. I have gained 9 stone on 8 years. I feel awful, hair falling out, bad skin. My TSH is now 32 my Free T4 is normal at 11. My TSH has always been high. My GP increased thyroxine last year to 175mcg....I ended up in hospital with tachycardia....resting pulse of 150 beats a minute. Doctos lowered thyroxine back to 150mcg daily. Before 2003 I didn't take any medication was fit and healthy....
Avatar n tn The effects of cholestyramine and colestipol on the absorption of diclofenac in man.Colestipol produces a similar but smaller effect. Though some information charts say that it should be used with caution in patients with Diabetes,it refers to underlying conditions as renal failure, hepatic impairment,IBS,stroke, clotting problems, asthma, allergies, CD/colitis,HTN,smoking,High LDL/HDL etc are present in your history. So donot worry about anything.
Avatar f tn s inflamed tendons and prescribed Diclofenac soldium XR, an anti-inflammatory, twice a day. Wondering if this drug is safe for him to take given hepatitis and Cirrhosis. He has a call back into the PCP to double check before taking it, and I have a call in to his hepatologist to double check before taking it. While waiting for calls back from PCP or hepatologist, wondering if anyone on this forum may know the answer?
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted this question in the Cirrhosis forum, but I thought maybe I'd post it here too, since many members of the Hep C forum also have Cirrhosis. I have a question about an anti-inflammatory medication called Diclofenac for a person with Cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn There may be reasons why, for you, she is suspecting the Diclofenac and not the other. Give her a call and ask. Let us know what happens. I'm glad you're feeling better though - it must have all been pretty scary. I have allergies to some meds, but it's all skin reactions, not breathing stuff. I imagine that's terrifying.
Avatar f tn Lancet. 1992 Jul 4;340(8810):9-13. Long-term thyroxine treatment and bone mineral density. Franklyn JA1, Betteridge J, Daykin J, Holder R, Oates GD, Parle JV, Lilley J, Heath DA, Sheppard MC. Abstract Studies of the effect of thyroxine replacement therapy on bone mineral density have given conflicting results; the reductions in bone mass reported by some have prompted recommendations that prescribed doses of thyroxine should be reduced.
681148 tn?1437661591 but Shanna707 and I were just talking about Diclofenac. I have had trouble too with a lot of NSAIDs and stomach upset and Diclofenac seems to be one I can tolerate and it really helps my shoulder pain. If that isn't an option, you could get a steroid shot? I have a couple of other tips: use a roller ball mouse for your computer so you are not moving your arm. You just move your thumb. It takes about a day or two to get used to, but it helps a lot.
Avatar n tn I have red/brown freckles on my lower legs and ankles. Have been on diclofenac potassium for a year for a torn meniscus. Could that have caused those spots?
Avatar n tn Such medications as carbamazepine and phenytoin have been shown to displace thyroxine from plasma protein-binding sites and potentially increase its clearance. Free thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) will be increased, while serum T4 and T3 levels will be decreased. Authors have speculated, therefore, that thyroid-stimulating hormone should be followed to determine if a patient on anticonvulsants has normal thyroid levels (JAMA. 1996;275:1495-1498).
1327431 tn?1327072104 ) i have been taking 100mcg of thyroxine for 3 weeks now and havent been sleeping that great since and feel my heartrate is faster , I go back for a blood test a month of taking it , just a quick question , is the no sleeping etc part of hypo or iam maybe taking too much thyroxine ??? i feel hyper but iam prob not !!! my last TSH level was 30 , a month before that was 10.6 pretty hypo !!!
Avatar f tn Diclofenac is not an opiate and I have not seen anything indicating that it is addictive. This particular preparation is enteric coated, so it helps against stomach upset. It is part of the NSAID drug class and is an anti inflammatory. It is stronger than Aleive or Advil, so requires a prescription.
Avatar n tn Thought I'd go through and clean up the links for you guys to make it a little easier to connect to the articles.Print them and take them to your Dr. Good luck! Original Study Presentation Is it safe for patients taking thyroxine to have a low but not suppressed serum TSH concentration? http://www.endocrine-abstracts.org/ea/0021/ea0021oc5.6.htm Graham Leese & Robert Flynn University of Dundee, Tayside, UK.
Avatar m tn The FDA just announced that dicoflenac gel (brand name Voltaren Gel) often prescribed for arthritis pain is linked to severe liver damage and it can happen within the first month of use According to the FDA, this topical gel has been reported to cause liver necrosis (death of liver cells), jaundice, and liver failure some cases of which have required liver transplant and some that have been fatal! Despite these horrible side effects, dicoflenac gel remains on the market.
Avatar f tn I have ben taking thyroxine for 9 years and various HRT for 8 on my GP's advice. Hypothyroid symptoms returned noticeably a few weeks ago and I have now had my thyroxine dose increased to 200mcg. I return to the DR on Friday to discuss the results of blood tests taken last week and am concerned that my use of HRT is not going to be taken into account. Is it right that oestrogen affects thyroxin levels and that the HRT is likely to be causing me problems?
Avatar f tn It's not the thyroxine that causes the constipation, it's being hypothyroid. I struggled with constipation of and on for years (I believe I went back and forth between hyper and hypo); and now that I've got my thyroid levels close to where I need them, I find that I no longer have to have the "daily help" using the bathroom. I also take a daily enzyme which helps break down food better. Are you taking vitamin B12 shots for your pernicious anemia?
Avatar n tn What is the difference between medicine-Thyroxine and Tyronorm available in India, and which type of thyroid has to take thyronorm and thyroxine.
Avatar m tn dehlibelly... I'm not terribly familiar with all the other medications, but I'm very familiar with the thyroxine and the lasix, since I take them both, myself... As you know, Levothyroxine is used to treat hypothyroidism, however, starting an elderly person on 100 mcg is almost unheard of; in fact, starting most people on that high a dosage is quite rare. Do you know what his actual thyroid hormone levels were when he was started on the Levothyroxine or what they are now?
