Diarrhea and vomiting in humans

Common Questions and Answers about Diarrhea and vomiting in humans

vomiting

In hindsight I would have had the cat checked completely, but given this was not our cat, the cat was suffering terribly, and I did not know the consequences of the gouging we basically dropped the cat off and paid for the euthanization. My son's symptoms are extreme diarrhea and vomiting. Pain everywhere. Headaches, nausea and terrible fatigue. He has had blisters on all his internal organs and the peritoneum surrounding the organs and stomach cavity.
He has been getting us up a couple of times a night to go outside and if we don't respond he is having diarrhea in the house. Sometimes there is some vomiting but mostly diarrhea. Been to the vet several times and they have put him on medicine to calm his stomach and for the nausea. It goes away and then comes back again. I cook him rice with some chicken baby food and a little dog food mixed, but he doesn't eat much but wants his treats and people food which we are not longer giving him.
The problem is that the isolated species really looks like Balatidium, a usual suspect of chronic diarrhea in humans, monkeys, dogs, BUT not cats!! So far he is given Fenbendazole and acivated carbon (1 tabl.) daily and this treatment does work. However, when the carbon is stopped the feces become mushy. Diet-Royal Canin intestinal, Hill's i/d and white cheese, as the latter has a beneficial effect. I am opened to any suggestions and recommendations. Thank you again!
What i call an upset stomach is when he's diarheaing that when i change his food, i find whiskers is too rich for from time to time and i keep him off milk too, he also hasn't got as much teeth as he use to have, but thats age babes, Felix does suffer with Gingervitus but he's really happy, he's alway purring and has mad moments wher he runs about and if he's out side he goes jumping up the trunk of the tree and hangs off it with his claws stuck in the bark.
This is soon followed with stomach nauseousness, then diarrhea and then vomiting. The vomiting is usually of the projectile type - very violent and ending in dry heaves. However, when I'm threw with the purge, I feel 100% better as I'm usually have that awful nauseous feel or that gas and bloated feeling. The diarrhea may continue for a another few hours, but I'm usually over the burping and vomiting during the first 24 hours and the diarrhea within 32 hours.
My Basset Hound ate cat food, and has had some diarrhea. What should I feed her?
Damage to organs from the dehydration caused by constant vomiting is what normally ends up doing them in, so as long as this is controlled and fluids are administered to prevent dehydration, the inflammation usually subsides a couple of days into the treatment and things begin to improve. Did the vet give you any kind of clue as to what type of bacteria is causing the enteritis?
Abdominal Cramping Basically going hand-in-hand with diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, many parasites that affect people can also bring on some amount of cramping within the abdominal region. This is largely due to the body's reaction to the parasites as they breed and multiply. The cramping can run from dull to quite sharp, based on the amount of parasites currently in your system.
tasting burps associated with diarrhea and vomiting could be a symptom of a Giardia Lamblia infection. Giardia Lamblia is a parasite that colonizes and reproduces in the small intestine of humans. Symptoms of infection could also include excessive gas, and bloating. Causes, incidence, and risk factors The parasite lives in soil, food, and water. It may also be found on surfaces that have come into contact with animal or human waste.
He has always had a sensitive stomach. Bouts of diarrhea on and off and trips to the vet with antibiotics and fasting and gastro food. He has diarrhea again I feed him Orijen but was in the process of transitioning him onto Acana grainfree wildprairie. I know the diet change can cause diarrhea but the poor little guy is really suffering and I don't know what to do anymore. Can you please provide any suggestions.
Could this cause diarrhea of this caliber? My husband and I visited a dog breeder last Sunday (the day I ended up getting diarrhea) and I held a puppy. The conditions of the breeder's dog area were filthy...the smell was overwhelming and it was very dirty....there was cat poop all over the floor and the dogs looked unkempt. Any way I could have caught something from the dog (maybe a transfer of feces to my hands?)?? I have a doctor's appt. Monday morning. Thanks if anyone can help!
Went to bathroom at 11 am to have bm - which was normal, then EXPLOSIVE diarrhea, explosive vomiting - grabbed trash can just in time, profuse sweating - even hair (and its kinda long) was dripping. Fell to bathroom floor to get face on cool tiles. Finally crawled to hallway to turn on a/c and crawled back to bathroon and passed out - again Explosive diarrhea all over floor, walls, etc. Massive chest pains & difficulty breathing.
(I started a thread about that, it's on this page) Rawhide's dangers are, choking, possible salmonella infection (which would be likely to cause vomiting and diarrhea, not, I don't think, bladder infection) -and damage to esophagus or gut blockages if large pieces are swallowed.
Parvo is known for strong iron smelling or metallic smelling diarrhea. Vomiting also accompanies the virus, and lack of appetite comes when the virus progresses. If the dog continues to vomit....just get it seen and keep up on puppy shots.
i have been getting RLS symptoms in my legs and a tightness in my lower back. Do you have any ideas on whats going on and what i can do about it?
Vets typically go with reglan for nausea at first because it's cheap and usually well-tolerated. BUT, it's metabolized in the kidneys and as the damage to the kidneys progresses, the reglan can build up to toxic levels in the blood. (Not a pretty sight.) A vet can offer plenty of other (and more expensive) nausea meds to try but I found that the phenergan worked the best. It really was surprising to me that my dog went back to eating normally as long as her nausea meds were on board.
The natural approach would also work on your sleep patterns, diet (eliminating caffeine and other stimulants, for example, and even cutting down on sugar and simple carbs), and then adding in exercise and meditation. It's a complex package. There are books you can probably find, and sometimes a good naturopath can be helpful.
Since last visit to vets approx 11 days ago, we changed diet to pasta and fish and no vomiting until today, and even then not a lot. Have looked up bile salts on i/net but unsure whether it is a LACK of bile salts or EXCESS bile salts causing the vomiting? Not due back at vets for 10 days or so. Dog on Vit E, Milkthistle compound and Biostrath from us and antiobiotics and liver supplment from vets.

Last week he was in so much pain with some vomiting and severe diarrhea. I took him to the vet who had given him medication for nausea and also anti-diarrhea meds. He seemed to improve. After that, he was in even more distress over the next weekend and I took him back to the vet and he said that it was his back. He gave him a small dose injection of steroids every day for 4 days (Monday through Thursday).
30 PM on Tuesday. He started with vomiting, diarrhea and shaking about 1AM on Wednesday but the owner didn't call my emergency service until 7AM . I had heard somewhere about raisins AND grapes causing acute Renal failure but hadn't seen any formal paper on the subject. We had her bring the dog in immediately. In the meantime, I called the ER service at MedVet, and the doctor there was like me - had heard something about it, but .
Out of nowhere he started vomiting and when taken to the vet last Tuesday, his levels were fine but his xrays showed air in his stomach and intestines and a swollen liver. They gave me Cerenia and ear medicine for a minor ear infection and told me to monitor him. Then he still seemed really sick all week, lethargic, panting heavily, drooling and would not eat, (even chicken, rice, pizza crust, peanut butter, bread...
* What are the most common side effects of chemo? Gastrointestinal (tummy) upset including nausea, decreased appetite, vomiting or diarrhea may occur in about 15% of dogs and 5% of cats. If this happens, it is typically mild and can be treated by feeding a bland diet or giving oral medications at home. Some pets’ white cell count may become low, and antibiotics or other medications may be recommended if that happens. Side-effects usually resolve within a day or two if they even occur.
The vomiting is so awful to watch in the end as it just goes on and on and on... There are many anti emetic meds to try. Has your vet not prescribed anything? Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end.
Izzy is a 4 yr old Chihuahua mix that came into our emergency clinic last weekend with bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Her owner had put 4 drops of Rescue Remedy, a homeopathic flower extract, into some water and Izzie drank all of it. The next day, she was lethargic, not eating, and started to have severe bloody diarrhea. She was so weak when she got to our clinic she could not stand up. Poor Izzie’s owner was racked with guilt.
I've been taking 500 mg/day of metformin. Just wondering if any of you have taken this, and if so, have you experienced any weight loss?
I have had the same problem for about a month now, when I was younger (about ten or eleven) I had the 'eggy burps' usually after I had been particularly sick with one of the strains of flu (particularly stomach flu) just recently it got worse, it was non-stop hell for a day and a half, and now that I have just recently started eating properly again, I've noticed that there is always one connection to this problem (for me anyway, it could be different for everyone) if I eat any type of cheese, I
it is very hard to stop and live life normal but in time it does and will get better but you have to live life day by day and learn to love yourself again and see the joys out of life that once made you happy before you got addictided, and as withdraws yes you probley can take something to help but as time goes on it will ease up,and i know you are reading this thinking ya right whatever you say,but as time passes all the pooping and everything will get better but wanting doesnt you have to stay
I'm a single mom of two and severly hurt my back 4 years ago. I was prescribed percocet 5/315. My pain went away, I felt happy, I could do anything. I would go a long time without any bit casually mention them to the dr when I did go and have a happy week. Then it got bad, I was going from dr to dr and they were going them to me, still are but now the pharmacies have a flag system and I can't keep going. I really want to quit but I can't take the pain and the anxiety.
