Common Questions and Answers about Diarrhea and vomiting in humans

vomiting

Did the vet say anything about using one of the human diarrhea over-the-counter medications? Those are even for humans take on the assumption that whatever is the cause will be cured. I am not suggesting using any but it may be a low cost item that is easy to administer, if the vet agrees. Wish you and your dog the best, and maybe someone else will have a more helpful reply.
my chihuahua has been vomiting and having diarrhea for about two days now. i dont know what she ate that is making her sick. I wanted to know if there is any human product like Alka Seltzer or Pepcid AC that i can give my dog to help her upset stomach.
I suffered vile sulphuric belches, vomiting and diarrhea on several occasions. It seemed to get worse each time and take longer to feel "human" after each episode. I couldn't figure out what was causing this, until I noted the only thing I'd eaten that was different from my regular diet was some Oreo cookies. I couldn't be sure that was the cause, until I ate some Oreo cookies covered with chocolate mint frosting at my daughter's home.
In hindsight I would have had the cat checked completely, but given this was not our cat, the cat was suffering terribly, and I did not know the consequences of the gouging we basically dropped the cat off and paid for the euthanization. My son's symptoms are extreme diarrhea and vomiting. Pain everywhere. Headaches, nausea and terrible fatigue. He has had blisters on all his internal organs and the peritoneum surrounding the organs and stomach cavity.
Also , if they r having diarrhea , vomiting , the vet told me to give them boiled chicken ( no seasoning ) , and mix it in w/ white rice - instead of their dog food for a few days . Also , when one of my dogs had to have a few teeth pulled ( he is 10 years old ) I added chicken broth to his regular food to soften it & he loved it ! As soon as I find my list of human foods - it also includes the best doggie foods & treats -I will post it .
A few days after coming to us, he developed diarrhea and then started vomiting occasionally after meals. Our vet assumed it was a bacterial infection and a course of antibiotics fixed him right up. Lord only knows what he was exposed at the shelter or even during the time before he was picked up. Since the diarrhea isn't getting any better, ask your vet if a course of antibiotics would be appropriate.
We left straight after my family exams, from the University. Whole trip was fine. On the last day, I had a severe vomit attack AND diarrhea. It might be pertinent to mention now that every few weeks I get hypermotility diarrhea when im nervous or tense, usually just take a motilium (anti-cholinergic) and Im alright. I never vomit throughout the year (only start if school) and certainly never have both at the same time.
Of course viruses have completely different DNA strands than humans other wise they would be human. The virus provides their own RNA or DNA to replicate and the host cell provides the energy and resources. Giardia lamblia is a protozoan disease not a virus. It is found in water contaminated by animal carriers.
Actually, it would probably be whatever you ate the night before the incident that created diarrhea. If you get feverish or the diarrhea continues more than a week, you can visit the doctor about a tummy flu or bug. I had a relative that had stomach flu and had to get up in the middle of a family dinner and visit the bathroom. We all knew the situation, so it was no big deal. But for you, it probably was just some food that didn't agree with you.
Just as with humans, kitties age differently, manifest illnesses differently... Just as with humans, kitties act differently, enter our hearts differently... From what I read, it seems as if your kitty has entered the "Final" Phase" of his life. Food not kept in long enough (at either end of the alimentary canal) to nourish, is food that does him no good. He is winding down...watch close.
This is soon followed with stomach nauseousness, then diarrhea and then vomiting. The vomiting is usually of the projectile type - very violent and ending in dry heaves. However, when I'm threw with the purge, I feel 100% better as I'm usually have that awful nauseous feel or that gas and bloated feeling. The diarrhea may continue for a another few hours, but I'm usually over the burping and vomiting during the first 24 hours and the diarrhea within 32 hours.
My 7 month old siberian husky have vomiting today since in the morning, she dont have diarrea, only vomiting, her vomiting is white with mocus like flu, she dont want to eat but she drinking water, however, after the drinking water she vomiting again, i am super concern because she is very hyper dog and today she is looking so sad, i took her to the vet but the vet want to do some test on her and that cost a lot of money so i cannot afford.
symptoms may include fever, pharyngitis, lymphadenopathy, headache, muscle and/or joint pain, lethargy/malaise, decrease appetite and weight loss, and nause/vomiting/diarrhea. REMEMBER - just because someone you may have some of the symptoms above it DOSN'T mean you have HIV. To diagnose HIV you need to have a blood test done. These are just general symptoms, which are usually only known to be HIV related in hindsight, since HIV tests are usually performed at least 3-6 months after exposure.
Hi! I have an adult cat with acute diarrhea for 4 months now. It turned out that he has some internal parasites and he was given Profender for this reason. Blood, microbiological and biochemistry tests showed nothing. Last week he was on Norodine and Gentamicine, but the diarrhea has not stopped. Despite being on a Hill’s diet, the cat is losing weight and the diarrhea is still not gone. Now we are waiting for the tests to be repeated.
The eating of grass may be an instinctive attempt to clear the stomach. I now it can cause vomiting. Clear vomiting says to me the puppy isn't eating at all.. but it seems to be drinking water, that is important, but the water has to held down and ingested. Talk with your mom, she must know what is best, and please let us know how it goes, we do worry along with you.
The most serious adverse effect with magnesium is diarrhea. If you get diarrhea or loose stools with magnesium, just lower the dose. How much magnesium do you need? It varies but generally 100 to 400 mg/day is adequate for most asthmatic patients. Magnesium is a very calming and is best taken around bedtime. Researchers have reported that sun exposure during pregnancy reduces the risk of developing asthma in kids.
I stopped drinking cold turkey a little over a week ago, but now I have massive diarrhea, like 20 plus times a day. Its a bright yellow "bubbly" diarrhea, kinda like when you drink a ton of beer and go to restroom the next day. So I was just wondering if this is a normal reaction to alcohol withdraw or if it is some more serious.
Has the vet checked her vomiting yet? And I am not talking about the latest thing. I am talking about her vomiting every 2-3 weeks. It may not be serious, but just the word 'vomiting' calls for some special attention. As Mr_Savas said, she may get dehydrated and such condition can be extremely dangerous. Hope she gets better. Be aware that issues with the small intestine causes vomiting. Good Luck.
However, there are some commonalities in the symptoms of human parasites that can indicate that you've contracted one of these infections. Diarrhea One of the most common symptoms among almost all of the human parasites will involve bouts of diarrhea or loose stool.
She's been eating normally, eager for treats, and full of energy. On Thursday, she was perfectly fine. Then on Friday, she was a bit weak, and had diarrhea; loose stool, ending with clear mucus. She had no appetite for the dry dog food, and even though she would eat the baby food, she rejected more than usual. This continued on Saturday. She still had loose stool (no more clear mucus) and no appetite, and wasn't excited about going outside like she usually is.
He acts just fine, growing like crazy, no vomiting, weighs 11 pounds.. The strange thing is when the diarrhea starts up he drives me crazy day and night wanting me to take him outside, which makes no sense because he doesn't want to go outside to graze on grass or defecate but only to sit out there and observe the birds in the daytime and at night just sit on the front porch with me.. I have a harness for him and a leash so he never goes out unattended.....
I HAVE BEEN HAVING DIARRHEA AND VOMITING FOR A MONTH NOW. I CAN'T KEEP ANY FOOD DOWN. I HAVE TRIED NAUSEA, ANTIBOTIC AND PRILOSEC MEDICATIONS. WHAT CAN I HAVE?
It's okay to give your dog an Imodium also, but only give half a pill and only one or 2 doses (not good for long-term use, as it is with humans). Poor Basset. Diarrhea is no fun.
Thankfully, most “statin” ingestions only cause mild vomiting or diarrhea. Serious side effects from these drugs come with long-term use, not one-time ingestions. 11) Always keep medications safely out of reach and never administer a medication to a pet without first consulting your veterinarian. 12) Never leave loose pills in a plastic Ziploc® bag – the bags are too easy to chew into. Make sure visiting house guests do the same, keeping their medications high up or out of reach.
I have had severl episodes where I have severe stomach cramping, chronic diarrhea (brown water), vomiting and this past time almost passing out. I'm concerned this may be more than just IBS. The triggers: lettuce and tomatos. Any ideas or suggestion because this last episode scared me and my family. Blood pressure went very low as well.
What is confusing me is that he has diarrhea but almost no gut motility. During diarrhea, the intestines are in hyperdrive, pushing things through at many times the normal speed, yet his intestines are barely moving. It makes me wonder if his vagus nerve is somehow involved. Have you had him tested for diabetes? Diabetic neuropathy CAN be responsible for this type of thing, and even though he is young, he can still be diabetic. It might be worth mentioning it to his vet.

i can say that when my pup started vomiting and diarrhea over a two days period, when i took her to the vet she was treated for mild gastroenteritis and this scared the hell out of me so i advice you to call the vet and get the pup check up again. oh! one of thing he gave me besides the tablets was ' Genhydate oral rehydration salts' it worked like a charm on lady; it clear her bowels and rejuvenate her in less than a week but have him/her see the vet!
