1303999 tn?1279581926 I am a Type II Diabetic. I currently take 1000mg twice daily of Metformin. Worked pretty well for me. Last week started on levothyroxine and now my blood sugar is through the roof. Anyone else have the same problems? It says I might have to alter my diabetes meds. If anyone is out there with the same thing can you recommend a medication that worked for you?
Avatar n tn But maybe some of the snacks and foods that are more diabetic-geared will help us not freak out if we see a higher BG. I have found many different groups/websites where I can buy their products, and is this something we should consider? But any kind of site where we could go and see a list of foods/snacks would certainly give us a better feel for this starting period (as if there really is such a thing for this disease).

That being said, you need an evaluation NOT at a diabetic clinic but at a stroke specialty center. The symptoms you describe are clearly neurological in nature.

7058746 tn?1393435420 I have it too and the diet my nutritionist put me on was 15g of carbs for breakfast. Then lunch and dinner between 50-60g. 2-3 snacks per day. No juices or milk. Lots and lots of water. Proteins are great (I'm vegetarian so this was a little harder to stay full) and no more sugary delicious food haha. Plus 20-30 minutes of exercise per day. Then check ur sugar levels when you wake up, then 1 hr after every meal (not snacks). My glucose levels stay perfect as long as I don't cheat.
Avatar f tn I am 19 week pregnant first pregnancy and I've only gained 15 pounds. I weigh 135 now but weighed 120 for the whole first trimester and 3 1/2 of the second trimester I've also had really bad headaches and feeling very dizzy at times. I'm not a diabetic but live with my dad and step ma. My step ma is a diabetic she told me to test my sugar levels to see if that is the problem. I've always been also 5.6 and that's a normal level for non diabetic people but today it was 4.
Avatar f tn I am a 36 year old female. I have been diagnosed with gastroparesis. I have had this diagnosis for over a year but I have not been able to find a doctor that will help me find the reason I have it. I am not Diabetic. I cannot take Reaglan and my doctor indicates that I don't have any other options. He has talked about putting a tube in my neck and feeding me that way. I don't want that. I have been throwing up and bad (almost daily) diareaha for over 2 years now. I am at my wits end.
579670 tn?1218213544 Hi, i am doing Food technology GCSE and my coursework is to design and make a range of products suitable for a diabetic that could be sold in the healthy eating section of a supermarket. Part of my research is to produce a diabetic questionnaire asking relevant questions which would help me with my coursework. Since i do not know anybody with diabetes it would be very helpful if anyone with diabetes could complete the questionnaire. Many Thanks x 1. What type of dish do you enjoy most?

Avatar n tn It seems as though many of you JDRF volunteers who are also diabetic have had it for a long time without any complications. I was wondering how you managed your diabetes and how strict you are with your diet, like do you only eat set meals throughout the day and stay away from foods with a high glycemic index? If you do eat foods with a high GI, like a banana, do you wait a while after taking your insulin to give it a headstart?

As a diabetic I strongly suggest if you are going to be out for a period of time with no access to healthy snacks, you carry your own. Your health, not your golf game, should be your priority. It will be hard to play golf if you have your legs amputated due to diabetic complications.

1154802 tn?1266485720 If you are the former, then it would be abnormal to rise above 120 for a non-diabetic. Also for a diagnosed diabetic, many doctors still use the ADA figure of 180 but studies have shown that complications begin at sustained numbers above 140 so that might be a safer goal imho.

443878 tn?1205103196 I gained 90 pounds when I was pregnant, got gestational diabetes, turned into type II diabetes after I gave birth. 7450032 tn?1396631975 So I'm 24 weeks today. I went to the dr yesterday and had an ECO done on the baby because I'm diabetic (i was diabetic before i got pregnant) and my dr said when your diabetic your baby is at a higher risk for heart defects.. Well everything came back normal but he's kind of a big baby. He weighs 1pound 8 oz and is in the 66th percentile. So my question is, has anyone had large babies due to diabetes? And did they have any trouble trying to control your babys glucose?
