The idea behind using comfortable/ diabetic shoes is to provide adequate padding to the feet and prevent injury/ trauma. Also the shoes should not be tight to cause pressure at any point or lead to compromise in blood supply. The shoes should fit as comfortably into the normal arch of the foot and heels other than platforms are best avoided. Relative loose/ non-elastic cotton socks would best be suitable.

Avatar f tn My mother-in-law is a Type 2 Diabetic, and has Glaucoma. She has been monitored for years, but recently a lot of problems have arised. The pressure in her eye is through the roof, and her vision was beginning to suffer. She was also told that there is a great possibility that she would lose her sight entirely. Her eye Dr. prescribed her drops (still waiting on list from her), which she was using as directed.

Avatar m tn You might need to buy some orthopedic shoes. Some pharmacies sell shoes for Diabetics with a bigger or wider toe box. They don't cost too much more than regular shoes and they could end the problem. I have this pain at the top of my arch - only when I wear certain shoes. i think they just don't fit right.
Avatar n tn I have had diabetes for 7 years and recently worked with the diabetes educator at one of my local hospitals as a high school intern. We did a lot of teaching about diabetic socks. Diabetic socks are not a scam. People with diabetes are supposed to wear cotton socks so that the socks breathe. Also diabetic socks are supposed to help with keeping good circulation to the feet. Since people with diabetes need to take extra care of their feet.
Avatar n tn Dear Paralegal, i am not aware of any insurance systems that one can change to that will cover diabetic supplies unless you become diabetic while on the insurance as after that most insurance plans i'm aware of will not treat a pre-existing condition. The only area i'm aware of that may have the information you desire is the American Diabetes Association.

906656 tn?1242437396 You have diabetic neuropathy. It tends to be worse while sleeping or upon waking. Get diabetic shoes. They help a lot during the day. My doctor put me on LYRICA but there are other drugs too. What ***** is it will never reverse. It gets worse if you don't keep your sugar under control. The LYRICA helps me a lot BUT there are side effects.

Avatar f tn Wait until you are absolutely positive that you're having a body if you want to buy gender-specific shoes. I'd wait a couple ultrasounds just to be absolutely positive. Once you really know, buy crib shoes, toddler shoes, man shoes, whatever!

4983320 tn?1378402268 Any recommendations on some comfy tennis shoes for a pregnant lady on her feet all day? My feet have been killing me all week! I know it's a part of pregnancy, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try some better shoes or maybe those insert thingys?
3205586 tn?1362842985 LOL the desire to be taller started when i was in primary school, I was always the smallest kid at school, lol i celebrated reaching 5ft. You know if your a shortie, everything you buy is always too long, so heels of every colour, hight and style are a staple for your wardrobe lol though i'm pretty sure that even with out the mobility issues, i wouldn't wear the sky scraper heels DD and her friends wear, ugg they are deadly.
Avatar f tn Okay so Payless has a sale on the shoes I like! My feet only barely fit one pair of flip flops because they are so so swollen that my ankles are the same thickness as my calves! (Ew cankles!) I was a size 6 before pregnancy. I have 24 days left until my due date, how do I go about buying a size? Should I buy what size I would for before? Or a little bigger because maybe my size won't return completely to normal? Thanks!
