Avatar n tn s pretty much a vegan diet plus protein (tofu, turkey, or chicken). No dairy except for non fat plain all natural greek yogurt. Google recipes made with greek yogurt. You can substitute mayo, sour cream, cream pasta sauces, and more with greek yogurt. Hummus can also be used instead of mayo or sour cream. Make sure to eat enough whole wheat carbs, especially if you are exercising regularly.

Avatar f tn Anyone know of any good websites with diabetic friendly recipes? My mom has diabetes and I'm trying to help her out with a few meals.
Avatar n tn Hi Newtoit, I'm a volunteer here and I've had Type 1 diabetes for over 11 years. It must be a difficult and a bit confusing time for your family right now, dealing with your newly diagnosed diabetic child, but it's wonderful that in such a short time you have managed to gather a lot of vital information. Having diabetes or caring for someone who has it is an ongoing learning process. Just keep that in mind whenever you feel frustrated, because we all go through it.
Avatar f tn Some women take foods, such as Activia brand yogurt, that have been supplemented with special bacteria known as probiotics. These bacteria can promote the health of your digestive tract and also can protect against conditions such as bacterial vaginosis. Activia is safe to eat during pregnancy, but you should always talk to your doctor before taking probiotic supplements.

Avatar f tn You can also just add a packet of whatever sugar/fat free jello that you like. I do like to use Greek yogurt, with the milk, because it gives the smoothies a thicker smoother texture... makes me feel like I'm eating something really decadent. You can also use flavored Greek yogurts, but watch the calorie count as some have a lot more sugar than the plain yogurt, and by the time you add milk and the protein powder you might have more calories than you bargained for.
Avatar f tn I eat whatever I want really. I had g.diabetes with my first and im now a regular type two diabetic. You don't have to eat vegetables if you don't want to. Be careful with potatoes corn and peas very starchy. Fruits aren't too bad either just eat them in moderation. I eat poptart and candy for most of my snack during the day and im healthy and my baby girl is too!
Avatar n tn //tinyurl.com/atkins-recipes . Replace sugar with artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or Stevia. Also, avoid starchy foods like potatoes, rice, and any foods made with white flour - white bread, crackers, pasta/noodles - as these turn quickly into sugar after eating. Post back if you have further questions.
Avatar f tn 5-10 minutes after eating whole-milk (regular) yogurt [I eat yogurt, I read nutritional lables, if it had 17 grams of sugar, and IF you had what the nutritional label stated as ONE SERVING which on a yogurt label is usually 4 ounces, then it was 'regular' plain yogurt] you STILL can't tell anything about your actual diabetes status. My best guess... no, you're not 'diabetic'.
Avatar n tn I'm a type II diabetic diagnosed this year with food allergies: corn, peanuts, soybeans, eggs and lettuce and various things in those families. That puts a great many "health" and low fat foods off my list and diabetic staples like eggs are a fond memory. I can't find any information out there to help me balance these evils (diabetes and allergies) against each other.
506791 tn?1439842983 Fry the slices in a bit of olive oil until tender. In the mean time take yogurt cheese (made by taking plain cultured yogurt and letting it drain through cheese cloth or a coffee filter over night) and mix with a couple of minced garlic cloves. Put a dollop on top of each slice of eggplant. Top with toasted pine nuts. I never liked eggplant until I made this. Also, I posted a great recipe for Ratatouille on the Healthy Cooking Forum http://www.medhelp.
20602810 tn?1501685257 I'm Diabetic and need a low oxalate diet and I'm so confused with all the different lists online.  My doctor advised taking extra cinnamon in my diet but when I just had surgery on a 6mm stone in my urethra, my diet needs to be changed because cinnamon has high oxalate....but some lists online say it's low oxalate.  Please help me, if you can, in a website that has an accurate low oxalate list of foods and recipes that I can eat being Diabetic AND low oxalate.
Avatar n tn It is not hard to cook proper foods instead of relying on man-made junk foods. There are thousands of recipes on the iNet which one can follow. If weight conscious and diabetic start by lowering your carbohydrate intake. Eat organic whole grains, vegetables, fish and poultry, and fruits, and lean beef and pork. Avoid foods made with white flour; breads, crackers, pasta and white foods like rice and potatoes as these quickly turn into sugar after eating.
