Avatar f tn I have been a diabetic now for 6 months, after going into a Diabetic Coma and DKA (my sugar was over 700 and I quit breathing) on July 31, 2015. Sugar was 70 in Dec 2014 and elevated in March. My question is this: I live alone, have no children by choice, family is out of state, and I am at a loss for what I can eat. I just figured out that my body likes weenies and beans. But I need some more help as to what to cook.
1666434 tn?1325262350 I thought it might be helpful if we made a thread that shared some of your favorite diabetic safe recipes. This can just be something you make yourself all the time or a recipe you converted to be safe.
Avatar n tn I have had success limiting carbs to 60 per meal. This not only keeps the readings in non-diabetic territory but leads to significant weight loss; 60 lbs in my case over 12 months.
Avatar n tn My Type 1 daughter, who is nearly 5, has had diabetes for almost a year. Over our winter (southern hemisphere June-August) she has had several bouts of vomiting, only once with diaohrrea. She goes low quickly and develops high ketones over a period of hours, which always ends up with us being admitted to the local children's hospital for her to go on a glucose drip to get her BGLs high enough to administer insulin to then bring the ketones down.
Avatar n tn Hi Terry! You pose a great question. Unfortunately, only a physician can give you an accurate diagnosis of being pre-diabetic or diabetic, and since I am not one, I cannot answer that question for you. What I can do is give you my opinion on what you have told me and share what I do know with you. First of all, I would make an appointment for a complete physical with my physician and explain these symptoms.
1461073 tn?1308677548 So it looks like my New Years Resolution yet again this coming year will be to LOSE WEIGHT)-more about that in year 2011. I thought YUMMY, although I am NOT willing to share the 2 pieces I'm eating right at this moment, I will however share my recipe. Anyone who has ever eaten at a Golden Corral Restaurant on Sunday night knows how good their Chocolate Chess Pie is, and I promise you their pie CAN NOT hold a candle to this one.
Avatar m tn One of the most frustrating is memory loss. Memory loss can occur in most people as they age. But sometimes, memory loss can be due to circulatory problems and hormonal changes in the body. To prevent memory loss when a person has diabetes, one should change their diet to include foods with fiber, protein, and calcium that will stimulate blood flow and also help replace some of the nutrients lost. Exercise will also promote blood flow.

Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm new to your Diabetes 2 Community but have been involved some with the MS community. I have Multiple Sclerosis but was diagnosed about 2 years ago with diabetes 2. When I first learned my blood sugar was high at 364, I immediately and without hesitation went on a diet and lost about 45 lbs. I did pretty good for a year and a half, but then I began eating sweets again. Plus, my best friend and Mom were very ill and dying, so I did a lot of stress eating.
