612876 tn?1355514495 s some news from the front lines (the bleeding edge of research, so to speak) on diabetic peripheral neuropathy. This may be relevant to a few of our community members so I thought it would be appropriate to share: http://www.physorg.com/news203337267.html I do not know if there might be any implications from this research on other forms of peripheral neuropathy.

Avatar f tn I need to know if lazer treatments for diabetic retinopathy will cause dimming of the eyes? Everytime I have a treatment my sight get dimmer. I need to know if this is normal.
Avatar f tn I have tried many medications, physio, acupuncture, chiro. I have been told it is not MS or Trigeminal Neuralgia even though a lot of my pain patterns seem to follow branches of the TN nerves or nucleus from brain, into tmj joint, face, teeth and nucleus at cervical spine. I have had three neurologists rule on trigeminal neuralgia. However, couldn't there be nerve impingement somewhere along the trigeminal nerve path?
Avatar m tn I am a diabetic and have peripheral neuropathy in my feet and legs .I was told it also might low testosterone. I am seventy. Do I need a specialist or general doctor to access the problem?
304573 tn?1345577338 This comes from a side effect handbook written by hepatologists. See chapter on Peripheral neuropathies Page 96...... http://www.projectsinknowledge.com/Init/G/1628/1628-Handbook.pdf Re your blood sugar being high..... "no i am not diabetic but they tried to tell me i was on the verge of becoming a type 2 - 2 years ago" You mean they told you you were "borderline diabetic"? There's no such thing as a "borderline diabetic".
Avatar n tn People with diabetes often experience sensory loss in their feet as the initial indication of diabetic peripheral neuropathy but multiple motor and autonomic symptoms are also potential problems (that's the "poly" part). I hope that helps to sum it up a little. Do you have diabetes? Are you afraid you might have MS? If you can to tell us a little more we might be able to help you sort it out a little before you check with your doctor.
757137 tn?1347196453 Which vitamins and supplements are helpful for a type II diabetic with peripheral neuropathy? Many thanks for suggestions.
Avatar f tn I am a 30 y.o. female and have been having some peripheral neuropathy for the last couple months. So far they haven't been able to figure out why and say they are not too worried about it. I had an MRI which was normal. Last week I started having very intense pain in one of my eyes and went to the eye dr. who thinks I have Trigeminal Neuralgia. For the last two days I noticed my eyelid drooping when my eye was hurting really bad.
Avatar f tn ( 22 y/o F About 9 months ago, I started getting headaches — sharp, quick — and was eventually diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia in March. Between those months I had an episode in October of 10% vision loss w/ new onset of floaters - cleared by ophtho and told normal. In February 2018 I started with eyelid twitching for minutes at a time and it has been daily since. A few weeks later, this twitching started in my calves and feet.
Avatar n tn I am in the process of trying to figure out whether or not I have pudendal neuralgia. I have a CT guided injection on the 25th of this month. My main symptoms are unexplainable vaginal pain, pain on the sit-bone area when sitting down, burning/tingling down the back of my legs which sometimes goes into my toes (probably some sciatic problems there), pretty good relief when standing but need to sleep on stomach, occasional loss of bladder control...
Avatar m tn Hello dear and welcome to the medhelp forum. Since you are a known diabetic, these could be signs of peripheral neuropathy or proximal or focal neuropathy. Long standing diabetes with poor blood sugar control could be responsible for neuropathy. Other things, which need to be ruled out, are nerve entrapment, vitamin deficiency and autoimmune diseases.
Avatar n tn Can you support your statement ''It damages nerves''? Tramadol is useful at treating nerve pain such a diabetic neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia etc. Yes it's hard to get off it as it's both a SNRI and a opioid.
1028452 tn?1537448484 I remember you from way back, Rahim! How are you? So, you have peripheral neuropathy? Do you know the origin of it? Diabetes, vitamin deficiencies can be the culprit and a blood test reveals that. Or if it is due to a herniated disk, spin or hip issue, a CT or MRI would help reveal that as the cause. They can also do a nerve function test to see how that is impacting things. Once you know the results of these different tests, it makes a treatment path more clear.
Avatar n tn MS typically presents asymmetrically. Not just diabetic neuropathy, but any form of peripheral neuropathy.
Avatar n tn Other possibilities which can cause such pain are brachial neuralgia,CVA,diabetes, peripheral artery disease, peripheral neuropathy, polymyalgia rheumatica and shoulder bursitis and tendonitis. I sincerely advise you to get evaluated for these possibilities and get investigations like blood sugar levels,ECG,echocardiography, nerve conduction tests ,MRA(magnetic resonance imaging) and MRI shoulder done.In my opinion you need to have a consultation of a neurologist/physician for these possibilities.
