Avatar m tn We have been through the education, but I was trying to expand a little and find some interesting meals that would be healthy and delicious for the whole family.
579670 tn?1218213544 Hi, i am doing Food technology GCSE and my coursework is to design and make a range of products suitable for a diabetic that could be sold in the healthy eating section of a supermarket. Part of my research is to produce a diabetic questionnaire asking relevant questions which would help me with my coursework. Since i do not know anybody with diabetes it would be very helpful if anyone with diabetes could complete the questionnaire. Many Thanks x 1. What type of dish do you enjoy most?
Avatar f tn I delivered 4 months ago, and my blood sugar is 250 after meals (2hrs). I am not on any medication after I delivered. I visited the Dr who told me that i can try and excercise and control my diet and i dont need medication. She told me I should visit her in JAN and then she will decide if i need to go on medication. Can u really pull on like this? till Jan?
Avatar f tn What do you think of this situation. I have been a T2 diabetic for 9 years. diagnosed in Colorado. Through diet and exercise I became totally controlled, BG before eating 74 to 90 and after eating , never above 180 My Dr said" If he didn't know I was a diabetic he would swear I wasn't" I moved to a different state, New Dr. He told me ( after Blood work) That I wasn't a diabetic and never had been. I argued with him , told him what my Dr in Co. had said...

Avatar f tn Hi, to be diagnosed with diabetes so early in your pregnancy actually means that the diabetes was prexisting. Maybe it was just managed with diet and exercise before. I was in the same situation with my first pregnancy. Diagnosed pretty much as soon as I know i was pregnant. I managed it with diet and exercise up until about 3 months after which I was on insulin. For this new pregnancy (I am now 2 months), I started on insulin about 2 months before I got pregnant.
Avatar m tn My dog is diabetic and will not eat the prescribed food. How long should I make it available for her to eat. She cannot have a shot unless she eats a full meal.
Avatar n tn Hi, I agree with the other comments on this sight this is definitely something you should bring up to your OB/GYN. I am a diabetic and have been since 14. During my pregnanacy I delivered at 38 weeks based on a test which determined my daughters lung capacity as well as an estimation to her size. I was induced and delivered naturally based on my circumstances. But again every person is different. Honestly I am surprised your doctor has not discussed this with you yet.
Avatar f tn s been stressful planning these meals around the holidays (diabetic-friendly, dairy-free, gluten-free meals are hard to come by). Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn Shoft breath, palpitation, fainting like feelings go away within a minutge or so after sitting/rersting but weakness continues the whole. Weakness is in general but particularly in leges. I am Diabetic and Hypertensive since 15 years but both are almost in coontrol with medicines althoguh Blood Sugar PP goes out of range (beyond 200 to 220 only) sometimes. Recently I have got got my heart tested with 24 hr ECG Study with Holter, Echography, ECG etc. but all o.k.
391686 tn?1225168008 /Taking any medications in the evenings?/What are his evening meals like? I believe he is diabetic. If that is the cause he could have diabetic neuropathy. Secondly, the GP should be referring him to a Neurologist to follow up.
Avatar n tn I doubt it because you can eat healthy meals, do exercise and loose weight. They wouldn't take that as an excuse. But I thought that you could not be in the ARMY if you have diabetes. You could have a lot of low sugars or even pass out while your training.
Avatar n tn This person can come out to your home and set up home visits with nurses and nursing aids to help you thru daily activities that you need help with concerning your wife. They can also help set up very low cost meals to be delivered to your home. We had to have assistance when my grandma was very ill. The social workers have a list of people and services that they trust and work with regularly. It's easier to use their resources then trying to find them on your own.
Avatar f tn I drink tons of water and split up my meals! Are you on insulin? Btw i was a diabetic on insulin before pregnancy. My last a1c was a 5.
Avatar f tn " I have gone from 20 units of novolog before meals to 6 units of novolog before meals in 3 weeks." You failed to tell us your reason/s why you lowered your dose. Is it from your Addison's post "My diabetic dr. told me she wants me to start decreasing my insulin intake." "Still eating same as always." Not changing lifestyle habits - poor nutrition - only compounds matters. Why haven't you made changes?
Avatar f tn There is some stores near me that you can order online and have delivered to home for a fee such as price chopper and Shoprite. Maybe u could ask them to come put away or prepare a few meals.
Avatar f tn with my son my levels were so under control they wondered if I really was diabetic. I fail the curves very well. they should get you hooked up with a monitor to test your self at home. each Dr is different. I was told to test my fasting over night bg, before meals and two hours post meal. so its kind of like running a mini curve every day for me. this being the second time around with gd my levels are harder to control which can be normal.
Avatar n tn t think that it makes any difference whether your child eats regular meals or variable meals with snacks as long as you know how to count the carbohydrates and adjust insulin accordingly. Obviously, those who eat according to a set meal plan have their lives simplified by not having to do the math for every single meal, but some folks prefer to have the flexibility of being able to eat what they want to and adjust the insulin.
Avatar f tn Since I've became pregnant, I have turned into a huge cook!!! lol I stay googling all kinds of recipes and stuff. From Chinese foods, to soups, to Mexican foods, salads, Italian foods, quick meals, ALL sorts of things. lol Mainly because I crave so many different foods. Nowadays I'm always cooking. I used to NEVER cook. lol Am I the only one?
Avatar n tn To do so yourself you have to eat consistent meals, of approximately the same number of calories. If you eat in a senior center the number of calories are about the same every day. Then you have to start a period of intense testing with blood sticks. That means when you get up. Before a meal, and two hours after a meal. A lot depends on the diabetic medications you are on. There are different kinds of insulin and each requires a slightly different procedure.
Avatar m tn Help, 59 year old male, t2 diabetic since 1996, lantus 75 units at bed time, novalog as needed @ 1:4 ratio...This is not working I have spiked at over 500 and the control is gone I take my shots and have been told to take them about 1 hour before meals? EG; BG before lunch 174 two hours after is now 265 with my shots.
Avatar f tn t believe I have it, with my bs readings they seem within the norm non diabetic range... My lowest first thing in morning is 4.9 before breakfast.. Going upto 7.3 2hrs after eating breakfast... Confused!
Avatar f tn t seem to be having immediate negative reactions, if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic going for long periods of time without eating is making your body work way too hard.
Avatar n tn My 16 year old daugher has been diabetic for 4 years now. She used to be on Lantus but it caused a lot of lows and weight gain. We always thought that she needed to take the long acting insulin 2 times a day rather than 1 and when we saw her endocrinologist about a year ago, they changed her to Levimere insulin. You take this insulin morning and night. It has been a life saver for her in that she feels her lows quicker and her reactions aren't as pronounced.
Avatar n tn I have been recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I am convinced that I am either not diabetic or not managing my injections properly. I was admitted into hospital with 4+ketones on October 28th 2005 where I stayed on an insulin feed for 4 days, now on 4 injections a day but sufferring at least one hypo a day.
336365 tn?1213319598 I am a pre-diabetic,I was diagnosed in 11/07 and I am controlling my levels with diet and exercise. My normal levels in the morning are between 79-83 and two hours after meals my normal readings are 89-95 Two weeks ago I had oral surgery and had four wisdom teeth taken out. The surgery went well, and my dentist says that I am healing very nicely and everything looks really good. Since the surgery my sugar levels have been elevated.
573569 tn?1278629655 im now experiencing some strange palpitations after meals, im just wondering if this is normal, and if anyone can explain.
Avatar f tn But the tricky thing about blood sugar is the symptoms are pretty much the same if your sugar is to high, as they are when its to low. Are you a diabetic? Does this run in your family? You should eat regular meals. My dietian says it is healthier to eat 6-7 small meals a day than 3 large ones. You are not as hungry between meals and do not tend to over eat. But not eating can cause your sugar to drop and can be just as dangerous as it being to high.
