Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be a blood blister or a diabetic foot ulcer. It is a type of blister that forms when subdermal tissues and blood vessels are damaged without piercing the skin.Elevate the foot, give rest to the part, apply cold compresses, soak the blister in Epsom sale and keep the foot bandaged so as to avoid its rupture. If the blister breaks, quickly rinse the area and apply an antiseptic such as neosporin.
1281603 tn?1283798699 my 80 year old fatherinlaw is a type 2, insulin dependant diabetic. He has neuropathy and no feeling in his feet. This morning I saw a fresh blister on his big toe. There is no sign of infection, but his feet are chronically purple so it's hard to assess. My plan- soak twice a day with epsom salts, dry carefully and wear clean cotton socks after each soak. Anything else I should be doing? Should he be on prophalactic antibiotics?

Avatar n tn he was sent home and got his tetnus shot the docor put him on antibiotics but his foot is really swollen and red on the top of his foot near his toes he is limping but seems to walk okay most of the time, is this a sign of infection?
Avatar m tn Diabetes may be associated with increased susceptibility to infections and reduced healing power and in a few cases may be associated with neuropathy and decreased vascularity that could lead to the formation of a diabetic ulcer. Management of a diabetic ulcer would involve adequate control of blood sugar level, prevention of further trauma/ extension and appropriate antibiotics in the situation of an infection.

Avatar n tn You may indeed have an associted bacteria infection which requires urgent medical attention due to your risk of developing a diabetic foot ulcer. I feel that you may not quite fully understand how diabetes works, I would suggest you visit a diabetes educator to develop your knowledge as this will help you deal with your condition in future years.
Avatar m tn He is on bed because of diabeties and has been undergoing treatment.has been treated for diabetic ulcer of the foot gallbaldder and takes eptoin regularly because of epilepsy caused due to an accident that happened long time back My home is away from his. So need advice urgently.
Avatar n tn If one is diabetic and has an accident causing trauma, like blunt force, to the foot damaging nerves, is this considered diabetic neuropathy, or can it lead to diabetic neuropathy? A comprehensive foot exam to assess the skin, muscles, bones, circulation, and sensation of the feet is in order. People who cannot sense pressure from a pinprick may have lost protective sensation and are at risk for developing foot sores that may not heal properly. There are other tests the doctor can run.
Avatar f tn )I got the first one starting on my foot going all the way up my leg. My whole foot, and ankle is a little swollen but not terrible my husband says. The pain was TERRIBLE! I am doing all the proper cleaning instructions. I got the other one on my chest. That one is okay and it was nothing like the one on my foot and leg. I am a little nervous about my foot and leg though. I made sure my blood sugar was good before going. I kept feeling like I was going to faint with getting the one on my chest.
Avatar f tn It *looks* like a Rodent Ulcer. Google it. I would share the link I was looking at, but I looked at a lot of sites for a photo but I can't find it now! Sorry. Avatar n tn I have been experiencing foot numbness at the soles of both of my feet and toes. It is greater on the left than the right. I tend to experience it more in the morning when after I have gotten out of bed. I am probably just overreacting but I am curious what the cause might be. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Are you diabetic, because if you are, you could have broken it and because of loss of sensitivity to the feet with diabetes, it would go undetected and not hurt. If not diabetic, Is your foot reddened also? Could be a possible infection. Have you checked your pedal pulses, (pulses in your feet) because maybe you are not getting sufficient blood to your foot or have a clot. Either way, I wish you the best and please seek medical attention.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Proper foot care is essential particularly in minimizing formation of diabetic foot ulcers. You could choose from diabetic walking shoes to remain more active to prevent worsening your condition. Use an extra wide diabetic slippers for home use. These precautions are necessary for preventing stubbed toes and minor cuts at home, which can become foot ulcers. These diabetic shoes are different from regular ones and are individually fitted according to personal foot needs and size.
