Try Stevia instead of sugar.

Avatar n tn You say you're sure your tests (plural) showed a diabetic profile, then you say my test (singular) showed that... And, then you say you're a lifelong hypoglycemic. Tell us what these test(s) are. The word "usually" indicates your home test results are not always in the normal range which makes you a diabetic.
3252948 tn?1359923842 Well my first ever A1c test was 6.9 and I was told that I was a diabetic. The next time it was 7.3 and I did the test at home and it is now 6.4; I have had to change my diet drastically to get my A1c down to 6.4; watch my carbs, no junk foods, no soda and I now rarely eat red meat. Been eating lots of fish, salads and some fruit and nuts, but it has been tough getting used to this new diet plan, and I will have to do this for the rest of my life if I want to stay off of meds.

667829 tn?1297978123 t checked off as diabetic (doc from at clinic nobody thought i was diabetic at that point) and my ob checked off diabetic on part 2 so lab calculated results as non-diabetic which got me a result of 1:220 for downs - normal risk for my age 39 is 1:100, cut-off for amnio and genetics counselling (in bc, canada for 39 year old) is 1:300. When they re-ran my numbers as diabetic it came back as 1:450 so now I don't qualify for the amnio. so that takes some questions out of the equation.

Avatar f tn Peripheral neuropathy is more of a symptom than a diagnosis. I guess Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy (Peripheral Neuropathy with unknown cause) could be a diagnosis. Peripheral neuropathy can be from toxins (including alcohol,) Diabetic Neuropathy, etc. Once all the "symptom related diseases" have been ruled out, and you can't find a cause, then a diagnosis of Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy would seem appropriate.
7628588 tn?1392763151 Help use up those latent carbs out of your system, and become a fat burning engine. Eat eggs, cheese, nuts, and meat. I eat about 30 pounds of shelled nuts annually; peanuts, walnuts, and lots and lots of almonds. Initially, it hurts a little. Your initially stomach aches from carbohydrate hunger. You will urinate copiously as your body wrings out every gram of carbohydrate it can use. But then you'll begin to feel better, more alert, the carbohydrate haze is gone.
Avatar f tn Meats, chicken, pork, fish, tofu. Salads and veggies some fruit. Google diabetic menu and see what pop's up.
Evillady There is no "diabetic diet" its Carbohydrates that cause BG to rise. So reducing the carbs you eat will help in BG control. So I eat salad and steak, veggies, no fruit (fruit has a lot of carbs) eggs, bacon, cheese, chicken, fish, garlic, and lots of herbs and spices and hot spices. There are other diabetic news groups with recipe sections.
Avatar f tn I am not diabetic, but I have taken on some of the habits of diabetic dieting by cutting my amount of sugars and carbs in order to just be generally healthier. I've cut back on fats by a lot and try to eat meat sparingly, because I get my protein from other places. I eat meat, just not a lot of it. I have also cut how much junk food I eat by a lot. Say I go to a party, I might have a piece of cake, but otherwise I don't eat junk.
649848 tn?1534633700 I, recently, had a Glucose Tolerance Test due to fluctuating fasting glucose and weight issues, but the worst symptom is tiredness/afternoon crash. The results of the GTT were as follows: Fasting: 97 1 hr: 165 2 hr: 124 3 hr: 48 L 4 hr: 56 L Over the past 5 years, my fasting glucose levels have ranged from around 97 or 98 all the way up to 125, but never over 125. My A1c has ranged from 5.5 to 5.8 over the same period and my doctor has said I'm pre-diabetic.
Avatar f tn Hi, Optimal HA1C is about 4.8. Diabetic is diagnosed once it gets higher than 6.0. So 5.6 is higher than you'd want and yes, could be prediabetic. Consider this your notice to get serious with healthy lower carb eating (particularly avoiding sweets and eating complex carbs in smaller portions) and exercise. Educate yourself about diabetes and it's prevention.
