diabetes

1720613 tn?1309432604 It's in your best interest when you follow your doctors instructions. Proper nutrition means to accentuate the positive when it comes to food. I dislike the word diet. “Diet” implies a rigorous, self-sacrificial discipline that’s doomed to fail. Instead, focus on achieving food goals of what you should eat each day rather than what you shouldn’t eat.

Avatar n tn If possible, meet with a diabetic educator who can help you establish a quality meal plan. Eating just tuna will not drop your blood sugar levels. You need to eat a well balanced diet. YOu can also go on the American Diabetes Association website for some nutritional guidelines. However, you need to speak with someone ASAP so that you can start to get your sugars under control and regular. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Did you have any signs of it before..
Avatar n tn Type two can usually be controlled very well with diet and excersize sometimes if enough weight is loss a good diet is followed and an exercise plan, the need for medication can be eliminated. I would check with your doctor as to which type you might be and the best course of action to help you maintain healthy lifestyle. Please feel free to come back and visit.

Avatar m tn If your postprandial elevates as high as posted it is quite obvious your food plan/diet/nutrition is in need of adjustments. Use Google to search for diabetic foods to avoid. Your moniker assumes Asian Indian ancestry. If so, search for diabetic Indian foods and diabetic foods in India. Both return lots of hits.
Avatar m tn The dietitians recommendation, based on a study published in the Journal of American Nutrition and Diet, recommends a high calcium and oxalate diet on the theory that such a diet will have the calcium and oxalate combine in the digestive track before they get to the kidney. An additional concern is that the urologist recommended diet cuts out many food groups that I have come to believe are good for you: whole wheat bread and pasta, beans, leafy green vegetables, nuts, green tea, chocolate.
Avatar f tn Needless to say, I began (in an attempt to go back in the right direction before i have serious issues) a new plan. My homeopathic/accupuncturist suggested I start on a powder nutritional drink in the A.M along with small more frequent meals and to stay within the very stringent guidelines of the LOW glycemic list.
Avatar m tn Your original post asked about prevention and was answered. "To rid of diabetes" depends on a person's lifestyle; body weight, what he/she is doing to control and manage their diabetes, how often they test, what their daily results are, results of an A1c test, and whether they are following lifestyle guidelines mentioned in the earlier post.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.

738822 tn?1264908407 It's not the end of the line. You can live a relatively normal life if you take regular glucose readings, follow dietary recomendations, excercise moderately, and follow your physician's guidelines. The best thing is to find a local diabetic facility that will provide you with training, feedback, and weekly monitoring until things get settled down.
733939 tn?1231773355 The doctor started you off with oral metformin and a diet plan for a good reason; to see if you listen to instructions. Failure to do so leads to insulin as the last resort. It's not hard to manage your diabetes but it does requires a lifestyle change. You have to rid yourself of all those old bad habits if you wish to be well. Good luck.
