Common Questions and Answers about Diabetic diet food pyramid

diabetes

5501743 tn?1390296087 Just go by the food pyramid and try to get all the servings of everything you need a day. Definetly drink tons of water. And portion control. And you may need to snack as you get further along or with morning sickness. I was 220 pre pregnancy and I'm 40+3 now and weigh 246. Some women loose wright though with morning sickness or when you start eating better and exercising so either is normal and your doctor can tell you if something is indeed wrong.

Avatar f tn Be patient, weight does not magically disappear focus more on having a balanced diet(remember the food pyramid?) and do exercises a few times a week..
1720613 tn?1309432604 Proper nutrition means to accentuate the positive when it comes to food. I dislike the word diet. “Diet” implies a rigorous, self-sacrificial discipline that’s doomed to fail. Instead, focus on achieving food goals of what you should eat each day rather than what you shouldn’t eat.
1151688 tn?1262021084 This is good to follow and as the doctor stated lowering saturated fats is key. Also look at oldways.org for their pyramid for mediterrean diet plan to follow. They have a nice pyramid you can print out and have it handy in the kitchen. This is mainly a plant, nut, fruit plan with less animal sources of fat and proteins. Good Luck. Joan.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn If you eat healthy, variety, full food pyramid diet & get the nutrition you need honestly there is no reason to take prenatals. It's mostly for woman who eat McDonald's everyday. Think about how many thousands of years women have been having healthy happy babies without prenatals. If you eat healthy & take care of yourself don't let anyone make you feel bad for not taking them.
Avatar f tn There are all kinds of food they say not to eat most of it is a precaution, I personally at everything lol my diet was horrible but I couldn't be satisfied till I ate what I craved ... I had one cup of coffee or a soda every day and my baby is not only healthy he's advanced for his age....
1401296 tn?1280799533 Your body works differently on it and has a hard time switching back and forth. If you like it do it but I would have to say just follow the food pyramid and count your calories. You will lose fast and then slow down. Most of what you lose in the first two weeks is water. After that it's 2-3 pounds per week and as you increase your carbs you will slow down even more. My final verdict is - It's just not worth it!
Avatar m tn No, my doctor has decided not to put me on medication. But they want me to diet and exercise. She seems very optimistic that if I do make lifestyle changes that all will be well. @diabetes86 So, I've tried your Low Carb High Fat diet and... Holy cow!!! I am shedding the weight! My girl is really impressed. Sugar and breads(just about everything in the bottom portion of the food pyramid) are out of my life. And I feel GREAT! Didn't even take much getting use to.
Avatar f tn Hi, thanks for the answer. I already had the thyroid test and I don't have any problem with that, is just the hiperinsulinim and the PCOs, and also I've already been treated with medication but my doctor said that I don't needed anymore.
10947 tn?1281404252 Also if you included suggested amts from the food pyramid to help people know what they should be eating. Let me know when you get it started.
1235957 tn?1270261522 My mother has been diabetic for few years and still not conscious about her diet. She still drinks softdrinks, rice, meat, and cakes. What should be the food she should eat and not eat? What are your diet plans?
370181 tn?1595629445 I read 5 books in a row, taking copious notes and when I got done, I was even more confused than when I began! When did the food pyramid disappear and the dinner plate take its place? I understand I need to learn about carbs, but when I tried to understand the Glycemic Index, I had to go hide in the closet for an hour or two. I also have some heart issues and was told I must eat a heart healthy diet. OK, fine, I understood THAT diet easily enough.

Avatar n tn im needing to find a simple diabetic diet plan. the doctor gave me one but it seems really complicated. does anyone know any good sources for diabetic diet plans?
Avatar n tn Ive read many problems concerning the Diabetic diet posted on the diabetes website that it hurts the diabetics more than helping them. Is this true? What do you think?
4238266 tn?1351628230 Carbohydrates is okay, since this is a good source of energy needed for your daily activities. According to the food pyramid, carbohydrates belongs to the food group which a person should have the most daily intake. However, it is important that you choose the right kinds of carbohydrates. The key here is, no matter what food you choose to eat, always make sure you pick the right kind. And also, make sure everything you put in your body is of a reasonable and recommended amount.
Avatar n tn I'm a type II diabetic diagnosed this year with food allergies: corn, peanuts, soybeans, eggs and lettuce and various things in those families. That puts a great many "health" and low fat foods off my list and diabetic staples like eggs are a fond memory. I can't find any information out there to help me balance these evils (diabetes and allergies) against each other.
