Avatar n tn However, if he is exercising, then he can get away with eating something like a whole fruit right before exercising (depending on his glucose level) beforehand and the cardio exercise will even it out. There is a Diabetic Exchange Diet that is in books where they assign you certain amount of meat, bread amounts that you can have at each meal - or trade off a lean meat for a little more fat, etc. so you don't have to count calories.

Avatar n tn Also diet control and exercise are again vital for adequate diabetic control. I would suggest consulting a qualified nutritionist to chalk out a diet chart that would suit your needs and consider discussing the change in diabetic medications with your doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Avatar f tn If you wish to become a type 2 diabetic, continue to snack on those donuts and twinkies. Otherwise exchange those bad habits with fresh fruits instead.
Avatar f tn I don't have gestational. ..I'm a 20 year diabetic. Have some ice cream :) but go for a walk or exercise after. The main thing is not eat too much. Protein helps alot so you stay fuller longer. And protein doesn't break down into sugars later.
Avatar n tn What should be the diet chart for me?
Avatar m tn Should I be following a diabetic diet which offers a similar type of exchange as I have described above. Relatives who have passed away on my mother's side all have suffered from Type II Diabetes. I just had my sugar tested today in the lab to see where my levels are at. I probably won't get the results until next week. I'm not looking for the grapefruit or cabbage type of diet, but something other then counting points on the W.W. plan.
Avatar n tn Believe me - as a Type 1 I had the same questions about a Diabetic Diet and for the most part - Food Exchanges just confused me because they overly complicated something simple. Type 1 or Type 2 or Type 1.5 - we all have the same meal planning problem. Unfortunately - there is no "list" of safe foods. You have to make your own. BUT - it's not so hard. The trick is to look at Nutritional Labels on food products. 99% of everything has it.
Avatar m tn All nuts are classified as fatty foods, but most have a small amount of carbohydarates and protein in them too. This chart tells you how many grams of carbohydrates and fat are in different types of foods and are grouped by type of food. Go down to the Nuts and Seeds area and you will find the carbohydrates, protein and calorie amounts for the different types of nuts: http://whatscookingamerica.net/NutritionalChart.
Avatar f tn Hello, In march I was pregnant with my first child and I am also diabetic. My blood sugar were also all over the chart hawever my a1c was around 7.9. In april I had a natural miscarriage and ended up in the hospital, critical care, with ketones. However when I was pregnant I would set alarms on my pump every two hours to check my bg which is why I think my a1c became better. So deffinetly set alarms hopefully I helped and didn't scare you any.
Avatar f tn A few days ago I mentioned having almost passed my 1-hour GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) and they wanted me to do 3-hour. Technically my 1-hour one was FINE but whatever. Results from the 3-hour are that I'm in the normal range. Technically my doctor has seen the results yet so he hasn't given the "all clear" but I'm pretty sure all is well. He may ask me to eat a more restricted diet, just to be safe, because PCOS can cause some diabetic issues.
Avatar f tn With my first they thought I had g.d. so they put me on a diabetic diet, turns out I didn't have g.d. anyways, they put me on a carb controlled diet so for example, breakfast I had to have 30grams of carbs, snack was 15g, lunch was 45g, dinner was 30g and another snack at 15g.
5501743 tn?1390296087 I went on the diabetic diet :) or gluten free!!!
Avatar n tn Eliminate sodas and other sweet drinks (including diet drinks) and make water your drink of choice and exchange white bread and regular pasta for the whole grain varieties. Use brown rice instead of white rice. Make sure you get some exercise since exercise builds muscle and muscle burns fat. Any type of exercise will do, as long as it's something you enjoy and will stick with.
1720613 tn?1309432604 Proper nutrition means to accentuate the positive when it comes to food. I dislike the word diet. “Diet” implies a rigorous, self-sacrificial discipline that’s doomed to fail. Instead, focus on achieving food goals of what you should eat each day rather than what you shouldn’t eat.
Avatar n tn Ive read many problems concerning the Diabetic diet posted on the diabetes website that it hurts the diabetics more than helping them. Is this true? What do you think?
Avatar f tn As a diabetic, a healthy diet and balanced diet is a must, otherwise you will have keytones all the time and starving yourself to lose weight is never the answer. #2: Skipping an insulin dosage (even 1!) will only cause your BG to increase. Even of you exercise right after eating. As soon as you put food in your mouth, enzymes and proteins begin the breakdown of food. When digestion begins, a healthy pancreas secretes insulin.
Avatar n tn Will you please suggest a complete effective diet chart and a exercise routine to loose at least 7 kg within a month. He has to work a lot. So only one hour he can spend on his exercise time. So what will be the effective exercises on that one hour. And please again suggest a complete diet chart and routine of the whole day meal.
Avatar m tn Are there doctors that specialize in problem lens exchange patients? I feel my doctor is not putting enough time or effort into this very real problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Avatar m tn With a high uric acid level you should completely avoid beer and meat (produces uric acid) , as well as reduce spinach, chocolate and rhubarb (have oxalates, which can react with high urate to form bad crystals in the blood stream, leading to gout). Try a vegetarian diet for a while, rich in fibre. Good luck!
