Avatar f tn I don't have gestational. ..I'm a 20 year diabetic. Have some ice cream :) but go for a walk or exercise after. The main thing is not eat too much. Protein helps alot so you stay fuller longer. And protein doesn't break down into sugars later.
443878 tn?1205103196 I gained 90 pounds when I was pregnant, got gestational diabetes, turned into type II diabetes after I gave birth. I have tried every diet imaginable, and have not been able to lose much weight at all. I lost a few pounds when I started metformin medication, but have now stabilized again.
872485 tn?1240603562 I had an A1C test and it came back at 6.4%. He said he wants me to follow a diabetic diet and exercise and have retest in 6 months. My fasting BS was 88, so that's good. I was told in college (I"m 34) that I had hypoglycemia and both my grandparents (one on each side) has diabetes. Does 6.4 mean I'm prediabetic? diabetic? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Most of the time it can be helped with diet and exercise. She won't know until she works at it. I think with your help and encouragement she is lucky to have you and I hope she does well. Keep us updated. Good luck!
Avatar f tn From here on out you will have to manage with diet and excercise and possibly medication. Stay away from sugars like soda and desserts. Drink lots of water. When you take the classes they will teach you how and what to eat. It is important to walk after meals it helps regulate your sugar. The important thing here is that you do what you can now for your baby. Most women the gd goes away after pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn I have been diabetic for 15 years. I have never been on a diabetic diet. I would like to know what I can eat, like how many carbs, fat, fruit, etc. Please help.
Boy Is steak ok to eat for diabetics?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm new to your Diabetes 2 Community but have been involved some with the MS community. I have Multiple Sclerosis but was diagnosed about 2 years ago with diabetes 2. When I first learned my blood sugar was high at 364, I immediately and without hesitation went on a diet and lost about 45 lbs. I did pretty good for a year and a half, but then I began eating sweets again. Plus, my best friend and Mom were very ill and dying, so I did a lot of stress eating.
579670 tn?1218213544 Hi, i am doing Food technology GCSE and my coursework is to design and make a range of products suitable for a diabetic that could be sold in the healthy eating section of a supermarket. Part of my research is to produce a diabetic questionnaire asking relevant questions which would help me with my coursework. Since i do not know anybody with diabetes it would be very helpful if anyone with diabetes could complete the questionnaire. Many Thanks x 1. What type of dish do you enjoy most?
1655866 tn?1320498966 But, fat deposition on chest and abdominal area is common due to weight gain. Avoid fatty foods, fried foods, desserts, sweets, chocolates, desserts etc and follow a strict diet of protein and whole grain carbohydrates. Start cardio exercises regularly in the form of running, jogging, cycling, swimming etc to tone down and have a proper body weight for your height and to come to a BMI less than 25. Take care!
Avatar f tn Can anyone direct me to a good website that will teach me how and what to eat. I am sure I am going to get a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes this week. My blood glucose this AM when I woke up was 200. It's been running about 125-130 all week. I also get some pretty low numbers during the day and start to feel weak and jittery. I'd just like to see what the diet looks like before I go in to see my doctor. Thanks.
Avatar m tn If people get high blood sugar from eating carbs then they are either diabetic or prediabetic..... a non-diabetic person will not get high blood sugar regardless of what they eat.
Avatar n tn I exercise a lot, jog for 4 kms (non stop almost) 4 times a week, do weights, stretches, cycling etc, Have a well regulated diet. Fasting sugar always is below 110. PP was earlier 130. Have diabetics in hereditary. I am 5.3 in ht and weigh 64 kgs. What could be the reason ?
Avatar f tn t be helped considering I get sick from fat (gallstones). So a lower carb diet or diabetic friendly diet might be good for you, but don't cut it out all together. I've lost 16 kilos by trying to keep a balanced diet. Your body needs variety and cutting out any specific food group won't necessarily help in the long run. A real healthy diet needs to be life changing. I will never ever go back to how I used to eat. And I can tell you my body already thanks me for it.
5501743 tn?1390296087 I went on the diabetic diet :) or gluten free!!!
1360484 tn?1277732214 Does anyone know of any quick low fat low calorie desserts I can make for my family?
1720613 tn?1309432604 Proper nutrition means to accentuate the positive when it comes to food. I dislike the word diet. “Diet” implies a rigorous, self-sacrificial discipline that’s doomed to fail. Instead, focus on achieving food goals of what you should eat each day rather than what you shouldn’t eat.
Avatar n tn Ive read many problems concerning the Diabetic diet posted on the diabetes website that it hurts the diabetics more than helping them. Is this true? What do you think?
Avatar f tn Does anyone else had diabetic in here and how do u maintain it during pregnancy and is my baby girl have Any risk bcuz of diabetics?
Avatar f tn I had this same question in my first pregnancy because I had been on the Atkins Diet and had switched to a lot of drinks with Splenda in it. Even after 'slipping' from the diet, I still drank diet soda and *loved* my Crystal Light. Here's what the American Pregnancy Association says about Splenda: "Sucralose: (Splenda) This is non-caloric sweetener that is made from sugar.
Avatar f tn I am on the Low Iodine diet for the next two weeks, I was wondering what are the Sweets that are allowed to eat, I have a terrible sweet tooth and the cookbook had no sugestions, so looking for what sweets I am allowed to have. Someone said Gummi Bears but not sure if that is true, so any suggestions would be Great.
Avatar n tn That is very strange! Have you ingested any over the counter medicines, products or foods? Nyquil, Listerine, fruit cake? That's the first thing that came to mind...Although, I know Nyquil is a huge no-no for pregnant women because it does contain a small trace of alcohol...and because of the holidays, many foods and desserts are spiked with traces of alcohol...other than that, I'm stumped. When can they tell you what it is from?
