Common Questions and Answers about Diabetic diet book pdf

diabetes

Avatar n tn There are diabetic education classes all around and scads of book and just try Googling "diabetes diet" for something sensible like a day or two of meal plans. The big thing is carbohydrate counting so get a carb book. If he takes Humalog insulin, dose would be 1 unit per 10 grams carb. If not, you must watch the simple sugars carefully. Small amounts of fruit are okay and larger amounts can be tolerated after eating protein.

Avatar m tn I read the Atkins - New Diet Revolution book. I read reviews on Yelp about it and people have had different experiences (Good and bad) with it. What do you experts out here say and ppl who have been on it please do post your experiences. I am pre-diabetic and normal BMI what phase should I get on if I wanted to do it, I would mainly do it to bring down my sugars. Thanks much.
Avatar f tn t speak for everyone as all have different symtoms but for me those symtoms are what led me to the doctor in the first place. I am not diabetic, but was diagnosed hcv positive in may, genotype 1a.
Avatar n tn After reading through this diet book, the only conclusion I can draw is that Dr. Fuhrman is yet another stealth vegetarian who is attempting to spread his anti-meat agenda to the whole world by disguising it as a healthy “nutrient-dense” way of eating. Don’t you just wish people would be honest about what they are doing instead of resorting to such pretenses?" I know of no diabetic that can use his diet for one simple reason... carbohydrates raise Blood Sugar (BG).
Avatar n tn I would like to know if MCT OIL ( from coconut) any good for losing fat and for a diabetic diet? Avatar m tn Your original post asked about prevention and was answered. "To rid of diabetes" depends on a person's lifestyle; body weight, what he/she is doing to control and manage their diabetes, how often they test, what their daily results are, results of an A1c test, and whether they are following lifestyle guidelines mentioned in the earlier post.
Avatar f tn I have been diabetic for 15 years. I have never been on a diabetic diet. I would like to know what I can eat, like how many carbs, fat, fruit, etc. Please help.
Boy Is steak ok to eat for diabetics?
Avatar m tn I went to a diabetes class a couple of year ago you really need to exercise, change your diet (get a good book on diabetes food), watch your blood sugar number (test with your machine 2 time or so a day), and manage your lab tests (like AH1C) once in a while. Your life do not have a limit!
Avatar n tn What diabetes86 said is spot on. That's precisely how it is, and it takes only 15 minutes to find out for oneself what produces blood glucose. On the other hand, I've quickly checked the last link vedadhar posted, and it's stunning how diconnected from reality it is. The Australian PDF recommends that carbohydrates make up cca 90% of one's diet... despite the proven fact that that's exactly what raises BG.
Avatar m tn My father is also type 2 diabetic..Is it sure that my children will be diabetic or its just probability?..

370181 tn?1595629445 These are the good guys. The simple ones found in table sugar and processed foods are the bad guys. For a diabetic diet, complex carbohydrates from vegetables and whole grains are best, as they take more time to break down and contain fiber, which is extremely important for preventing heart disease, promoting weight loss and helps prevent the progression of diabetes type 2.
Avatar n tn Yes, it can be hard when you can't eat and drink the same as everyone around you. But it sounds like you feel good about how you are eating and that's what counts. After awhile it will feel normal and you will even be a good role model for others by eating the way everyone should! Just don't get too arrogant around people who still eat junk because it doesn't win you any friends! I don't agree with your doctor about not testing your blood sugar.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I'd like to suggest you to read this book:"Diabetes Solutions" by Dr. Richard Beirnstein which is arguably the most important book for any Diabetic 2. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Discuss the high protein diet with your physician given that your BUN levels are elevated. The diet may need to be modified.A baseline glomerular filtration rate may be readily computed given your laboratory values. Ask your physician about this . I also suggest that your fasting blood sugar be taken just to rule out an underlying diabetic state. Your ESR is elevated. This may signal an underlying inflammatory process.
5501743 tn?1390296087 I went on the diabetic diet :) or gluten free!!!
Avatar f tn Am a diet controlled diabetic. Blood sugar is over 200 each morning. Should I be back on meds?
Avatar f tn This cleanse is meant to be used as a juice fast and laxative-based colon detox. You want to use it differently. I have no idea if this works if you do it the way they suggest, though I can almost guarantee the cleanse has nothing to do with weight loss -- if you stop eating of course you'll lose weight. When you start eating again, unless you change your diet, you'll gain the weight back. Using laxatives can be helpful in a short-term fast, but they can also be tricky.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I just wanted to share this book I have been reading. It is a story of a woman who is going to college to be a psychologist and finds out she is bipolar. The book is called "An Unquiet Mind" (A Memoir of Moods and Madness) By Kay Redfield Jamison. I am throughly enjoying the book and thought I would share.
Avatar m tn My mother has had diabetes for 11 years. She was always able to keep her levels down with a good diet. But it seems like in the past two years it has slowly started going up. When she takes her blood sugar every morning it is around 190. Throughout the day it goes from 165 to 180. I am worried about her. She is feeling extremely fatigued. If she does certain things it makes her feel bad and really tired. Is it her blood sugar being so high that could cause this?
