Avatar m tn The body doesn't make the difference when talking about sugars because even if it is fructose, lactose or sucrose or glucose and even if it's from a candy or a vegetable, in the end they will all end up being glucose in your body. What does make a point tho is that complex carbohydrates take longer time to break down in your body to that means the blood glucose remains more stable. Complex carbohydrates are startchy food like patatoes, rice and pastas.
647391 tn?1275016633 Provided that your doctor gives you the O.K. I would suggest moderate exercise and cutting back on excess refined carbs. There is no reason why "a pre-diabetic" should have to become diabetic. Watch your weight, eat healthy and get regular medical checkups.
Avatar m tn i was diagnosed Diabetes type 2 in december 2010..I want to know that if someone is diabetic, how much he will live ???
Avatar n tn Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.
443878 tn?1205103196 I gained 90 pounds when I was pregnant, got gestational diabetes, turned into type II diabetes after I gave birth. I have tried every diet imaginable, and have not been able to lose much weight at all. I lost a few pounds when I started metformin medication, but have now stabilized again.

Avatar n tn Hello, Mister Magic! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Humalog and Novolog are different types of fast acting insulin, meaning that they are quickly absorbed into your system to immediately drop your blood sugar. Some people find that one works more effectively than the other, so which is used is really up to the patient. Humulin, more commonly called Humulin NPH, and even more commonly called just NPH, is a long acting insulin.
Avatar n tn Hi! How long have you been diagnosed? Did you start a new diet and medicine? It sounds like you must have and it is working. The thing is, now you are kind of in a position to keep working on it. Usually you will have to continue medication to achieve the decrease in numbers you are seeing. What medicine do you take?

Avatar m tn Hi, I am a type 2 diabetic as well. When I do have soda it is always diet. I never noticed any increased levels in my blood glucose levels tho. Try one for a day or two, monitor your levels and see if they affect anything. Something that I do is look at the lables when I am not sure if something is ok for me. When you do this compare the lables from a diet soda to a regular soda and see what they look like, this will pretty much give you a answer as well.

Avatar f tn Hi. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is different from type 1 diabetes, which isn't reversible. Type 2 can generally be reversed by changing your diet and getting plenty of exercise. The reason is that type 2 is caused by the body not being able to absorb or use the insulin it creates.
Avatar n tn At this point, the adjustment to insulin doses is generally done EACH day, according to when the peak action of whatever type of insulin the diabetic person is taking. So if your glucose levels have not improved after several days on insulin with glucose readings still running between 400-600, I would certainly call my physician and tell him or her that this is not acceptable diabetes management in your opinion and ask him or her what changes to make.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm new to your Diabetes 2 Community but have been involved some with the MS community. I have Multiple Sclerosis but was diagnosed about 2 years ago with diabetes 2. When I first learned my blood sugar was high at 364, I immediately and without hesitation went on a diet and lost about 45 lbs. I did pretty good for a year and a half, but then I began eating sweets again. Plus, my best friend and Mom were very ill and dying, so I did a lot of stress eating.
535822 tn?1443976780 If you have pre diabetic readings 112 what would a days meals be, could you tell me what you would eat for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and best times to eat, what time is the last meal .I have got a book about this also and am reading but wanted your input.
Avatar m tn ths usual times to check blood sugar are fasting. Optimal level is in the 80s, but ‹95 is truely ok. >125 is diabetic. Other time is 2 hours after starting to eat. Optimal in this case is also <95, but 180 2 hrs after rating is considered diabetic. If you suspect you are at risk, for health, cut added sugars from your diet and reduce intake of processed foods. If you are diabetic, then low carb diet and meds, if necessary, is typically effective approach.
8369322 tn?1397826669 I've been a type 2 diabetic for over 3 years. It crept up slowly on me, but when my A1C broke through 7.0, I was given 90 days to see a significant drift downward, or begin a drug therapy. I immediately began a paleo style diet. I refused to eat anything containing "white"; bread, sugar, rice, potatoes, pasta...PASTA!!. I also shunned grains of any kind like rolled oats, wheat. Also out were honey, most fruits, lots of types of beans, peas, and corn.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but a mom of a type one and the daughter of a type 2. In a type one diabetic commonly called Juvenile diabetes( because it usually is diagnoses in children , but I know people that were in they 30's and 40's and were diagnosed) is when the body stop s producing insulin. Type 2 diabetics your body still produces insulin, but cannot use it properly use the insulin without help of medication.
